Kyoshin - Priest Living in Play the Buddha
This is Kofuku-ji temple in Nara and this temple was for the Fujiwara family. This temple was the most influential in the Heian and Nara periods.
The priests of Kofuku-ji temple came to think that they were superior to others.
Kyoshin was among those priests. Somehow, he retainded unresolved troubles in his hereat.
Kyoshin noticed that Buddha taught us to be content living among poor persons.
When Kyoshin considered such things, he did not hesitate to leave Kofuku-ji temple.
After he left Kofuku-ji temple, he learned of the stern realities of life. Farmers were troubled by much land tax and worked under sever conditions.
(直訳) 教信 祈りに生きた僧
ここは奈良の興福寺です。そしてこの寺は、藤原氏の氏寺でした。
この寺は、平安・奈良時代、大きな影響力を持つ寺でした。興福寺の僧たちは他の者(僧)よりも優れていると考えるようになった。
教信もそれらの僧の中にいた。教信は、「仏さまは、貧しい人々の中で生活して満足をすることを教えている」とさとった。
教信は、そのように考えると、興福寺を離れることに躊躇(ちゅうちょ)しなかった。
興福寺を離れた後、彼は生活の厳しい厳実を知った。農民たちは高い年貢に苦しみ、厳しい生活をしていた。
