時々、バカバカしいとは思いつつ、
野心に駆られ、高い地位に憧れ、
君主、偉い王さまになれたら、と思う。
それが実現したら、もっと高い地位を望むに違いない。
でも、杉に吹きつけられる風や
名誉を望む人に襲いかかる嵐を思うと、
自滅を望むのは愚か、と反省。
王国なんていらない、冠がもらえても。
ああ、リーシア、君は奇跡のような人、
君がいればぼくは満足、ぼくは幸せ。
君に比べれば、王冠なんてただの屑。
アジアの宝石なんかでは君のキスひとつ買えない。
だからぼくにキスして、お願い。
そうしたら冠も王国もどうでもよくなるから。

不幸の星がこんなに苦しめるから、
人生の春にぼくは涙を流す。
運はいつも悪くなっていくのみで、
新しい悩みが今の苦しみを攻めたてる。
あの人は悪くない、ぼくの気持ちに応えてくれないけど。
むしろぼくの欲望の翼が舞いあがりすぎているだけ。
太陽のようなあの人の熱にとらえられて羽が溶け、
欲望の頂点から落ちているだけ。
落ちながらぼくは叫ぶ、助けを求めて。
でも、あの人はぼくを哀れんでくれない、泣いているのに。
何より優しさがほしいのに、まったく助けてくれない。
だから、ぼくは自分の涙の海に溺れるしかない、燃えながら。
死んだぼくの涙であの人が洗礼されるといい。そして
新しい名で呼ばれるといい、美しい殺し屋、と。

Yet her I blame not, though she might haue blest mee,
But my desires wings so high aspiring:
Now melted with the sunne that hath possest mee,
Downe doe I fall from off my high desiring;
And in my fall doe cry for mercy speedy,
No pittying eye lookes backe vppon my mourning:
No helpe I finde when now most fauour neede I,
Th'Ocean of my teares must drowne me burning,
And this my death shall christen her anew,
And giue the cruell Faire her tytle dew.

いつか、高く立派な塔も倒れる。
いつか、薔薇も銀の百合も死ぬ。
いつか、王も囚人も奴隷となる。
いつか、海も川も涸れる。
硬い石でも、いつか溶けて砕ける。
長く伝わる名声も、いつか薄れて消える。
見下ろす山も、いつか下から見上げる。
変わらないように見える大地も、いつか滅ぶ。
太陽もいつか昇るのを忘れ、
東に居座るようになる。
下劣な人もいつか気高い思いを抱き、
強欲な人もいつか富を嘲る。
このようにすべてはいつか変わる。終わる。
違うのは、君の姿と心の美しさとぼくの気持ちだけ。

In time the sea and rivers are made dry.
The hardest flint in time doth melt asunder.
Still living fame, in time doth fade away.
The mountains proud, we see in time come under:
And earth for age, we see in time decay.
The sun in time forgets for to retire
From out the East, where he was wont to rise.
The basest thoughts, we see in time aspire.
And greedy minds, in time do wealth despise.
Thus all, sweet Fair, in time must have an end:
Except thy beauty, virtues, and thy friend.

ウェヌスがくれた君の美しさをみんな返そう。
きれいな声も天球たちに返してあげよう。
ついでに君の冷酷な心も返そう、
ペルシャ虎と残虐な熊に。
かたい心は大理石に譲って返そう。
そうすれば、ぼくは君の拷問の痛みから解放される。

愛しい人が泳いだ水晶の川。
泣き崩れて涙になる、ぼくと同じ悲しみで。
川の水よりあの人は明るく光る。
まるで真珠の水、雪より白い。
熱で蒸発した香水のように、
川は熱い蒸気になって燃えあがりそう。
不思議、あんなに冷たい人が
川を蒸発させるとは。
なぜ？ たぶん、こういうこと－－
あの人にふれた水があの人に恋して燃えた。
あの人にふれて川は幸せ、
涙の川ではなくなった。
川にこんな幸せをあげるくらいなら、
ね、ぼくも愛して。同じことをして。

The pearl-like fountain, whiter than the snow.
Then, like perfume resolvèd with a heat,
The fountain smoked, as if it thought to burn.
A wonder strange to see the cold so great,
And yet the fountain into smoke to turn.
I searched the cause, and found it to be this:
She touched the water, and it burnt with love.
Now, by her means, it purchased hath that bliss
Which all diseases quickly can remove.
Then if, by you, these streams thus blessèd be:
Sweet, grant me love; and be not worse to me!
