「神の似姿」 （『無垢』 の歌）
やさしさ、あわれみ、安らぎ、愛に、
つらいときにはみんな祈る。
そして、そんな美しい心によろこび、
感謝の気持ちを返す。
だって、やさしさ、あわれみ、安らぎ、愛とは、
親愛なる、父なる神そのものだから。
やさしさ、あわれみ、安らぎ、愛とは、
神の大事なこどもである人間そのものだから。
〈やさしさ〉は人の心をしていて、
〈あわれみ〉は人の顔をしている。
〈愛〉は神々しい人のすがたをしていて、
〈安らぎ〉は人をつつんで装う。
だから、どこでも、誰でも、
つらいときにはみんな祈る、
神々しい人のすがたをした
〈やさしさ〉、〈あわれみ〉、〈安らぎ〉、〈愛〉に。
だから、みんな、人を愛さなくては。
たとえ異教徒、トルコ人、ユダヤ人でも。
〈やさしさ〉、〈愛〉、〈あわれみ〉があるところには、
どこでも神がいるのだから。

For Mercy has a human heart;
Pity, a human face;
And Love, the human form divine:
And Peace, the human dress.
Then every man, of every clime,
That prays in his distress,
Prays to the human form divine:
Love, Mercy, Pity, Peace.
And all must love the human form,
In heathen, Turk, or Jew.
Where Mercy, Love, and Pity dwell,
There God is dwelling too.

〈ねたみ〉は人の顔をしている。
〈おそれ〉は神々しい人のすがたをしていて、
〈隠蔽〉は人をつつんで装う。
人の装いとは、焼いて打ってつくられる鉄、
人の姿は炎のかまど、
人間の顔は開かずの鍛冶場、
人の心は、何でものみこむその鍛冶場の胃袋。
