悪いことのほうについて行ってしまう

心が広くて優しいのに
欲望の奴隷、荒れ狂う風のよう
頭は裁判官、何が正しいか知っている
でも体は犯罪者、追放の刑
とても優しく緩く、簡単に魂を売る
頭はいいのに、いつも言いなり
馬鹿な女に誘われたら
性格のよさの使いかたが間違っていて
結局欲望の波が理性を押し流す

まじめでかわいい女の子を誘って棄てる
若い子の罠、その親の敵
悪いお手本
若くて馬鹿で軽い男たちの

でも、ひとりになって落ちついた時に
知る、理解する、感じる、自分の悪さを
知る、感じる、ふり返る、自分の悪さを
いちばん欲しいものが憎くなる
自分に言い聞かせる、その場だけの
快楽を求めて手に入るのは永遠に続く苦しみ、と
理性は性欲と戦う
いつも後悔するのに、なぜいつも悪いことを？

自然の恵みの使いかたを間違えて
惨めになる、自分で自分を呪う
人生の舞台を台無しにして
死ぬ、若いのに年をとったみたいに
それで賢い人は彼を嘲り、哀れみ、
愛し、嘆き、見下す

His judgment tells him, all his gains
For fleeting joys, are lasting pains:
Reason with appetite contending,
Repenting still, and still offending:
Abuser of the gifts of nature,
A wretched, self-condemning creature,
He passes o'er life's ill-trod stage;
And dies, in youth, the prey of age!
The scorn, the pity of the wise,
