最初のアダムによってみな死ぬように、
わたしにおいてみな生きる。
わたしは死を呑みこんで勝利する。
そして永遠の生を与える。

土よ、傲慢なわたしたち人間もいずれおまえのようになるだろう。
死の攻撃に耐えられる者はいない。
塵は塵に帰る。おまえからつくられたわたしたちも塵に帰る。
この世の栄華はみなむなしく、いずれ無に消える。
砂に撒かれた水のように、人も消えていく。
一瞬の稲妻のように人は生き、そしていなくなる。

死は予想外のときに訪れる。そして誰をも逃さない。
生とは、いわば死からの借金。みな返さなくてはならない。
