さまざまにアンテナを張ったり、そうして集めた曲を取捨選択して、毎週のチャートを続けていくことは、けっこう時間を要するので、自宅でできる仕事の今ならともかく、よくまあ会社に勤めてからも8年余り続けられたものだなと。
誰にも見せない。会社に友だちがまったくゼロというわけでもないが、音楽の話題を共有できる人など皆無。孤独、自分だけの時間があることは、案外大切。
そうした私にも、いよいよ毎週チャートをやめなければならない日が訪れた。
1992年、27歳になった私はちょうど親と折り合いが悪くなっていたこともあり、実家を出る潮時だろうと。7月に大田区北千束のアパートへ入居することになるが、前段として家事を自分でやるとか、出費を切り詰めて引っ越しの準備だとかで、音楽に振り向けるお金も時間もなくなってしまい、年初にチャート断念。↑は自活のため買った家具や家電品の中で最長不倒、20年を超えて使うことになった日立の電子レンジの取説。
