1958（昭和33）年の台風22号は9月26日夜半、伊豆半島をかすめ、神奈川県の江の島付近に上陸、勢力を弱めながら東京から筑波山を通り抜け北海道方面へ消え去った。大雨による洪水・浸水の被害が大きく、伊豆半島の狩野川上流の山間部では鉄砲水や土石流が多発、1951年の統計開始以降で死者・行方不明者が3番目（1269名）、浸水被害が1番目（521715戸）の多さを記録。気象庁は11月に「狩野川台風」と命名、さかのぼって命名された洞爺丸台風（54年）と共に初めて公式名称が与えられた台風となる（ヘッダー画像左・韮山村南条地区では約300メートルにわたって堤防が決壊。濁流に直撃され100戸が流された。中・米軍の偵察機から撮影された狩野川台風の目。24日には877ミリバールという低気圧の世界記録（当時）に達する。右・各所で破提・氾濫した狩野川。 南条の破提ヵ所より下流方向を望む）。
函南村仁田では壊れた家屋の木材が上流から流れてきて固まりに。腰まで泥水に浸かり遺体の収容に当る陸上自衛隊。
大仁小学校講堂には付近で発見された遺体26体が安置されており、家族を求めて来る人の波が絶えない。
10月3日、大仁町三福地区の捜索隊は河原の泥の割れ目からわずかに出た指を発見、1メートルの深さの泥中から18歳くらいの男性の遺体を引き上げた。この時点でも行方不明者は500名ほどにのぼる。
伊東の温泉旅館はちょうど浴衣から丹前へ衣替えの時期で、倉庫から出す直前の丹前をやられた旅館が多く、野天風呂で泥を洗い落とそうと。狩野川は支流や曲折が多く、傾斜も急で、天城山系に降った大雨が一挙に集まって洪水を起こしやすい地形の川であった（記述と画像：アサヒグラフ・ウィキペディア）。

1980年夏季オリンピック大会は7月19日から8月3日までの16日間ソビエト連邦の首都モスクワで行われた。 （ヘッダー画像右上から時計回りで①体操女子の平均台と床運動で優勝したルーマニアのナディア・コマネチ②ソ連による前年からのアフガニスタン侵攻を問題視し米国・西ドイツ・日本など66の国と地域が不参加③JOCが不参加を決め涙するレスリング代表の高田裕司④閉会式のマスゲーム、名残を惜しんで涙する大会マスコットのミーシャ）
18歳になったコマネチ。ホームタウン・ディシジョンがはたらき個人総合はソ連のダビドワに譲ったが種目別で意地。漫才ブームのピークは1980年でありビートたけしのコマネチ！はより大人の体形になったという含みがある。
アンドリアノフ！ ディチャーチン！
サッカーはボイコットのため16ヵ国中7ヵ国が代理参加。チェコスロバキア金・東ドイツ銀・ソ連銅と東側諸国の独擅場。
陸上男子1500ｍを制した英国のセバスチャン・コー。保守党議員⇒爵位⇒ロンドン五輪組織委会長⇒世界陸連会長という陽キャのエリート。
西ドイツのディスコグループ、ジンギスカンが前年にヒットさせた「めざせモスクワ」シングル盤。より大ヒットした「ジンギスカン」が体操会場で流れていたと記憶する。この大会のテレビ中継は「中産階級ハーレム⑯プロレス」でも取り上げた三浦甲子二がソビエト共産党の意を受けて自民党の重鎮にはたらきかける工作員ということで慣例を破りテレビ朝日が独占契約。そしてボイコット。幻の代表となった柔道の山下、マラソンの瀬古、レスリングの高田、みな近年は顰蹙を買う存在になっていて奇妙なめぐり合わせ。
この次の1984年ロサンジェルス大会ではソ連・東ドイツ・キューバなどがボイコット。派手な演出に走って商業的には成功したとされるが肥大化の出発点であり、テレビで見ていてアメリカの自国中心に辟易させられたものであった。一方ソ連のアフガンとの戦争は泥沼化、ソ連圏崩壊の遠因に。与えて盗る・見せびらかして盗る。発想さえ持てないのだろう、陽キャのみなさん、自分たちが社会のお荷物でしかない卑屈な立場に追いやられることが。中止にせよ強行開催にせよ3度目の東京オリンピック招致は史上稀な速さで衰退する極東の島国を象徴することになりそう。
日本のプロレスの父祖・力道山。日本統治時代の朝鮮半島（現在は北朝鮮になっている地域）に生まれ、15歳で大相撲二所ノ関部屋に入門し戦後に関脇まで昇進するが廃業。1952年にプロレス修行のため渡米し、サーキット中にアメリカ人レスラーを招聘できるプロモーター・ライセンスを取得、帰国後は興行団体の設立や始まったばかりのテレビ放映枠獲得に奔走、自らがエースとなる舞台を整える。日本人はまだ敗戦のショックから立ち直っておらず、力道山が空手チョップで巨漢外人レスラーをなぎ倒す雄姿に熱狂し、街頭テレビは黒山の人だかりとなった。63年に暴力団員の男ともめ事になって腹部を刺され、予後が悪く死去。
プロレスの人気は力道山の死後一時低迷したが、後継者と目されるジャイアント馬場と新団体の引き抜きから復帰したアントニオ猪木の「BI砲」がスター性を発揮し、テレビ中継も日テレに加えNET（現テレビ朝日）が参入し華やかな時代を迎える。共に力道山の弟子であった馬場と猪木はライバル心が強く、テレビ放映契約のゴタゴタや団体幹部の汚職などで2人とも新団体を旗揚げ、馬場の全日本と猪木の新日本による対立・抗争の時代が幕開け。
1960～80年代にブラウン管を彩った外国人レスラーたち。右上から時計回りでフレッド・ブラッシー、ボボ・ブラジル、フリッツ・フォン・エリック、テリー・ファンク、タイガー・ジェット・シン、スタン・ハンセン、ハルク・ホーガンのおもちゃ、ミル・マスカラス、アンドレ・ザ・ジャイアント、アブドーラ・ザ・ブッチャー。俺子どものころからプロレス嫌いだけど名前だけでなく芸風もいがらしみきおさんの漫画やコサキンの投稿とかで何となく知ってるわ。
73年、東京オリンピックで日本柔道の前に立ちはだかったアントン・ヘーシンクが全日本プロレス入り。レスラーとしては大成しなかった。

前田日明のキックを顔面に受けた長州力は右前頭底骨骨折。翌88年に新日本を解雇された前田はUWF（第2次）旗揚げ。
90年代後半から00年代にかけPRIDEやK-1といった総合格闘技の興行がブームとなり、この2003年K-1のボブ・サップ×曙など大晦日のテレビの呼び物に。

熊田の弁護士オレ「謝る必要ないです。むかし狂言の和泉元彌がハッスルのメインイベントで米国でも活躍した鈴木健想を相手にデビュー戦勝利、くりぃむ有田さんはその場にいて感動して大泣きしたそうですが、前後を抜きにしてこの試合だけをテレビで見せられたら誰もだまされないです。おおまかな筋書きがあり、スポーツ競技ではない演劇や芸能のジャンルに過ぎません」
