人間はそれぞれ好みがありますから他人の評価ほど当てにならないものはありません。引退した僕に利害の絡んだえこひいきや虚栄心はありません。僕はシドニーは世界一、そして函館は日本一美しい街だと考えています。ユミも大体同じ考えのようです。青森から函館へは青函フェリーで4時間。フェリーの乗客は定員の20％。函館も青森も衰退の運命なのでしょうか？

Each person has one’s own sense of value. As I have already retired, I have no partiality or vanity. I believe that Sydney is the most beautiful city in the world, and Hakodate is that in Japan. Yumi seems to have the same opinion as me. From Aomori to Hakodate by ferryboat it takes 4 hours. The percentage of its passengers is 20% of its capacity. Does it probably mean that Hakodate and Aomori have been declining?
