35年前僕は本州最北の故郷下北で「漁業はホタテ養殖、農業は酪農」を提唱してモデル事業を展開。ホタテ漁師はいまだ健在ですが、酪農家は農政に振り回され今は他の事業に転換してブラックベリー農家も。子供の頃木イチゴをよく食べました。ケアンズでも今の時期が旬。一方同名の携帯はキーボードがあり、電話とインターネット閲覧と電子メール機能の簡単操作。日本の褌（がらぱごす）携帯は世界に通用しない。

35 years ago I developed several model projects in my hometown, Shimokita, northernmost district of Honshu, proposing “scallop farming for fishery and dairy farming for agriculture”. The scallop farming is still running, but the dairy farming has been at the mercy of agricultural policy and some farmers are surviving as blackberry farmers. I used to eat blackberries when I was a child. It’s the season in Cairns now. Blackberry cell phone is easy to use having the keyboard and the function to access to internet and e-mail. Japanese ones, so-called Galapagos phone is not accepted in overseas.

Don’t Japanese have inferiority complex in themselves and jealousy in others? They talk about living timidly trying to gage someone’s feeling, considering others’ feelings or reading situations. 週末や祝日にはビーチでBBQがOZの定番。ほとんどのビーチは飲酒、喫煙は禁止。タバコのフィルターはウミガメや魚を殺します。3連休だったのでここトリニティー・ビーチでも警察が飲酒チェック。豪州の交通事故や暴力事件の多くはアルコールがらみ。祝日の交通違反は反則点が2倍の罪。オーストラリア・デーと中国正月が重なったためかアジア人が多数摘発されたようです。日中韓蒙を始めアジア人は品格に欠けるのか？

The police are cracking down drunk-drivers as well on Trinity Beach because it’s a 3-day holiday. Most traffic accidents and violence are related to alcohol. The penalty is double demerit on national holidays. As Australia Day and Chinese New Year’s Day have overlapped this year, many Asian people were detected. Asian people: Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, and Mongolians are defected dignity, aren't they?

You can see five fish and the flag with 6-star (southern cross). Today is a national holiday, Australia Day. It was 29 April in 1770 when Captain Cook first landed Australia. It was 26 January in 1788 when the first immigrants landed, and they became independent on 1 January 1901. University staff and students are demanding to change the National Holiday to 29 April. Making the consideration to aboriginal people is the official reason, but they want it because a day-off during the summer vacation is useless. There are some funny state individual holidays such as Regatta Race Day, Horse Race Day, Picnic Day, and others. I suggest to abolish Coming Age Day in Japan. Or will you miss it?

オバマ効果も空しく株価は低迷。景気は人気のバロメーター、金の切れ目が縁の切れ目。蜜月は長くは続きません。9年前に米国西海岸を旅行中、蜘蛛の巣にかったハチドリを目撃。最小のハチドリは全長2.5cmでカマキリにも食べられるらしい。南北アメリカに生息。豪州にハチドリはいませんが、蜜を主食とする太陽鳥がやはり蜘蛛の巣にかかります。蝙蝠やヘビを食べる蜘蛛もいます。ミツスイという甘い汁を吸う中型の鳥は網にはかかりません。

“Obama Impact” seems to be in vain and share prices have depressed. Economy is the barometer of popularity, or love lasts as long as money endures. Honey moon never lasts so long. I saw a humming bird that was caught by the spider net when I traveled on west coast of US 9 years ago. The smallest humming birds are 2.5cm long and they can be caught and eaten by mantises. They live in both north and south of America. They don’t live in Australia but sun birds that mainly eat honey are also caught by the spider net. There are spiders that eat bats or snakes. Honey-eaters, middle size birds that drink sweet juice never be caught by the spider net.

一昨日の停電の原因は鳥の巣らしい。停電で困るのは病院、警察、テレビ局、映画館。年末に映画「フロストVSニクソン」を見ました。責任をウヤムヤに退陣したニクソンを3年後TVインタビュアーのフロストが追及し謝罪を引き出した実話。俳優陣も好演。この映画大いに見る価値ありです。少し古い映画ですが「スパイダーマンⅡ」、「バットマン・ダークナイト」も秀作。しかしスパイダーマンⅢは難題山積。

The cause of the blackout the day before yesterday can be bird nesting. The institutes that are annoyed by blackout are the hospitals, the police stations, the TV stations, and the cinemas. We saw “Frost & Nixon” at the end of last year. It was based on the true story that Frost, a TV interviewer pursued Mr. Nixon who had resigned leaving his responsibility vague and succeed in oblige him to apologize 3years after. The actors performed quite well. This film is fairly worth to see. “Spider man 2” and “Bat man; dark night”, a little bit old films are good , too. But “spider man 3” seems to contains so many difficulties.

昨日夕食の準備中に突然の停電。キッチンの電気コンロが使えないのはテラスのBBQコンロで代用できますが、電子レンジが使用できないのは不便。パソコンが使えないのはもっと不便。非常階段で1階と5階の昇降もかなり大変。VUEに引っ越して以来5ヶ月間に3度の停電。前2回は30分で復旧したけど昨日は2時間。北部QLD全域で原因不明。それでもOZはキャンドルが大好きなので大騒ぎはしないようです。

There was a sudden blackout while I was cooking dinner last night. If I cannot use the electric stove, I can substitute the BBQ stove on terrace for. But it is so inconvenient not to be able to use the microwave. It’s even more inconvenient not be able to use the computer. Going up and down on foot from the basement to the forth floor taking the emergency stair case was quite a hard work. There were 3 blackouts in the last 5 months after moving to VUE. It took 30 minutes to recover the last 2 times but it took 2 hours yesterday. It happened in the whole district of north QLD and the cause is not unclear. Even so, OZs don’t go on a panic because they love the candle lights.

40年前に僕等は市井(しせい)の行動者として演説したけど、演説上手と言われる小浜氏は為政者。耳障りはいいが無内容な就任演説。「政府の期待する国民の誠実さと変わらぬ価値観は①勤勉、②正直さ、③勇気、④フェアプレイ、⑤忍耐、⑥好奇心、⑦忠誠と愛国心」とか。②－⑤はOZも了解可能。⑥好奇心は英国式教育では「他人のことは気にするな」。①と⑦は企業のため？国のため？それでも小浜氏には期待します。

We made speeches as the activists of citizen 40 years ago, and Mr. Obama who is famous for being a good speaker is a policy-maker. His inauguration speech sounds comfortable but it was unexpectedly lack of substance. He stated “The integrity of citizen and invariable value are ①diligence ②honesty ③courage ④fair play ⑤patience ⑥curiosity ⑦loyalty and patriotism” OZs can understand ②－⑤. English education will clear away ⑥curiosity saying “Never care about other people” Are ① and ⑦ for the enterprises or the nation? Nevertheless, I still have some expectation in Mr. Obama.

豪州では店の客に酒を提供する人は酒類取扱者（RSA）免許、コーヒーを提供する人はコーヒー取扱者（バリスター）免許が必要。ユミは5年前にバリスターの資格を取得。先週「良い体重計」を買ったついでにエスプレッソ・マシンも。僕はカプチーノを心待ちにしているのに作ってくれないのは「悪いエスプレッソ・マシン」だったからかな？仕方なくスーパーでチューブ入りコーヒーを買って来ました。

According to Australian law those who serve alcohol in public need RSA license and those who serve coffee need the barista license. Yumi got the barista license 5 years ago. She bought an espresso machine as well when she got the good scale last week. Although I’m looking forward to having a cup of cappuccino she never does. I wonder if that is because it is an evil espresso machine. I had no choice but bought some coffee in tube from the supermarket.

ブッシュ流の独断によれば鏡には「良い鏡」と「悪い鏡」の2種類。良い鏡はやせて見えるし、悪い鏡は太って見える。同様に体重計も2種類。しかし鏡は形態を表示しますが、体重計は数量を表示するのが悩ましい。体重や体脂肪率を少なく表示するだけなら単に精度に欠けているだけかも。先週ユミが見つけて購入した豪州製体重計は「健康年齢」を表示するのが味噌。ユミの健康年齢は22歳？確かに「良い体重計」らしいけど僕が38歳とはね。

According to Mr. Bush’s dogma there are 2 kinds of mirrors, good one and evil one. You look slimmer in the good one and fatter in the evil one. There are 2 kinds of scales as well. The mirror indicates your shape. On the other hand, the scale indicates your figure and that is the problem. If the scale displays less weight or body fat rate than the reality, it could be only inaccurate. Our new scale made in Australia that Yumi found last week has an important point and it shows “health age”. Is Yumi’s health age 28? Exactly it seems to be a good scale, but it displays the age 38 as my health age.

ネペンティス・ラジャ（大ウツボカズラ）は世界最大の食虫植物。インドネシアやオーストラリアやニューカレドニアに自生。ケアンズ周辺にも。大きいものはカエルやネズミも簡単に平らげてしまう大食漢。巨体だから大食なのか、大食だから巨体なのか。僕は30年間ハングリー・スポーツのボクシングをやりました。計量に合格しないと試合は負け。運動で体重は減りません。ダイエットの王道は断食です。

Grand nepenthes is the biggest carnivorous plant in the world. It grows wild in Indonesia, Australia, New Caledonia, and also around Cairns. The bigger ones can easily eat frogs or mouths. The question is; does it eat a lot as it is big or is it big as it eats a lot? I had boxed for 30 years. Boxing is hungry sport. If you cannot pass the weighting, you will fail before fighting. You cannot reduce your weight by exercising. Fast is the royal road.

嵐の3日間僕は家に閉じこもっていましたが、普段見かけない動物が沢山訪ねてきました。グンカンドリ（軍艦鳥）の群れが上空を舞い、全長2cm足らずのハッチョウトンボとカマキリダマシ（カマキリモドキ）が多数花壇に緊急避難。いずれもレッドブックに収載の絶滅危惧種。消費者騙し、国産まがい、和牛もどきが日本のブラックリストに。麻生さん、1寸気合を入れて。

I was staying home for those 3 days during the storm and several rare animals visited my apartment. A flock of frigate birds flew above the sky and a numerous pygmy dragonflies that have their bodies of 2cm and mantispidaes evacuated to our garden. Both of them are endangered species listed on the red book. Consumer wheedle, imitated domestic products, sham Japanese cattle are listed on the black list. Hang in there, Mr. Aso!
