Hi there!
How are you doing today?
Today, I want to share another maternity dairy here which is about a check-up at 19weeks.
On the day, besides a usual check-up with our nurse, we also had an appointment for ultrasound which was supposed to be done between week18 and 20.
We had to make the ultrasound appointment separately, but luckily, they had an available time on the same day as the check-up. So, we did the ultrasound first in the early morning and then saw our nurse after that.
To prepare for the ultrasound, they said that you needed to drink about 16oz water about 45 mins before the appointment time. I think they need your bladder full.
The ultrasound is done by a specialist and it took about one hour. I had a female engineer for my procedure.
Andy came along with me and watched all the images with me in the room.
We just double-checked about some basic information with the engineer lady, but a big question came up then.
That's my due date.
When we found out that I was pregnant at the clinic in Japan after the first IVF, they said "The due is Nov. 30th." then.
So, we told them, "It's Nov. 30th." on the first appointment with our clinic here.
She looked through my information on the computer and found out that there were 2 different due dates on the system.
The first one was Nov.30th and the second one was Dec.5th.
The engineer lady said that it'd be probably one from us and the other one from the first day of my last period or something.
"I think you guys did IVF, so it should be accurate..."
she said, but she couldn't make any decision and told us to double check about it with our doctor later.
So, we hadn't seen our baby for a month or so and the first thing that I thought when I looked at the screen was "Oh, so big!!"
I think it depends on the zoom ratio of the ultrasound, but I was very surprised that our baby became the certain shape of a baby!
Our baby
The spine looking fine made me relieved too.
The engineer lady looked through our baby so carefully.
The parts which she took time the most to check were the heart, head, spine and kidneys.
Here in the US, an ultrasound engineer takes all the images and passes them over to a specialized doctor. And the doctor reviews all the images and make decisions if things are okay or not.
So, at our ultrasound, we didn't hear specific diagnosis from the engineer lady, but we could kind of assume that things were fine about our baby anyways.
Our baby was very active in my belly that day again like her head was on this side 5mins ago and now on the other side.
In the middle of the procedure, I was told to use the bathroom to empty my bladder. Plus that, to change my baby's position, I did some exercise, bend forward, touch my toe with my fingers and stand up straight again like 20 times.
We could see the cute feet too!
And there was something both Andy and I were very looked forward to on this ultrasound.
I think it's going to be long to talk about it, so I want to write about it on the next article.
So, by for now today. Thanks for reading!!!!
