ボーナスに乾杯 (Toast for Bonus)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's evething going in your life?



お陰様で、Hit-chanは今日も元気です。
My life has been just perfect as always



さて、毎年２月が近づくと我が家の大黒柱、Andyっちがソワソワし始めます。
When it gets closer to February every year, the main provider of my family, Andy starts getting excited.



というのは、２月はボーナス月だからです！（拍手）
It's because he gets bonus in February! (Yay!)




さて、今年もAndyっちが頑張って働いてくれたお陰で無事ボーナスが支払われたので、久しぶりに2人で豪華ディナーを食べに行く事にしました。
So, thanks to his hardwork in the last year, he finely got a bonus and we decided to toast for it at some fancy restaurant.



行ったのは前の職場のすぐ近くにあるステーキレストランだったんですが、ここに選んだのは、もちろんAndyっちがステーキ好きであるのと、クリスマスに義兄家族からギフトカードをいただいていたからなのです。（もちろん、後の理由がメインですが。）
The restaurant we piciked up was a fancy steak house near my old Caribou. We chose the place because Andy loves steak and also we had a gift card. (The main reason was the second one, no doubt. Haha)









スターターはそれぞれフレンチオニオンスープと。。。
As a appetizer, I ordered the French Onion Soup and



ロブスタービスクを頼んで、途中で交換しました。
Andy ordered the Lobster Bisque. Of course, we exchanged them after.



Hit-chan、フレンチオニオンスープが好きで、今まで色んなレストランでいただいてきて、このレストランでも以前頼んだことがあったのですが、この日のこのスープは甘めで好みの味でした。Andyっちにとっては少し甘みが強すぎたみたいでしたが。。。
French onion soup is actually one of my favorites and I've tried it at many different restaurants before, but their soup of the day was kind of sweeter than other restaurants which I prefer. Though, it was a little too sweet for Andy.




ステーキレストランなので、メインはもちろんステーキ。Hit-chanはフィレにマッシュルームとオニオンのソテーを添えたもの。
It's a steak house, so I ordered steak! It's a fillet with sauteed mushrooms and onion.




AndyっちはNYストリップになんとフォアグラを添えて。う～ん、ゴージャス！
I think Andy ordered the NY strip with Foie Gras! Aww, how gorgeous!




サイドでスーパー巨大なハッシュブラウン。中にチーズとかサワークリームが挟まっているバージョンを。
As a side, we ordered this stuffed hash brown. There's cheese and sour cream inside.


Hit-chan、普段滅多にレストランでステーキを頼んだりしないのですが、やはり高級ステーキレストランだけあって本当に美味しかったです。
I usually don't have steak at a restaurant, but I really enjoyed their sophisticated and deliciou steak.



もちろん量が多くて残ったものは持ち帰ったのですが、翌日温めなおしていただきました。
We couldn't finish all the dishes and took the leftover back home that night and I enjoyed the rest of my steak in the next day!









いつも一生懸命働いてくれてありがとうね。
Thanks for your hardwork as always!



という事で、美味しくて贅沢な（お高い、笑）ディナーでした！
It was super delicious and gorgeous (and expensive, haha)!

我が家のバレンタイン2017 (Valentine's Day '17)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you today?



Hit-chanは元気です！
I'm super well!



周りはここ最近結構風邪をひいたりしている人が多かったんですが、Hit-chanは至ってピンピンしております。
A lot of people around me got sick lately, but thankfully I've been doing great.



さて、もう1か月ほど前になりますが、我が家のバレンタインの様子を書いていきたいと思います。
Okay, it's already about 1 month ago, but I want to write about our Valentine's day.



その日のディナーは特に何もなかったように思いますが、一応プレゼント交換はしました。
I don't think that we had a special dinner or something this year, but we still exchanged presents.




まず、AndyっちからHit-chanへ。カードから。我が家の散らかった部屋はスルーしてくださいね。(笑)
From Andy to me, starting from the card. Please don't care about our messy room. Haha




そしてプレゼント。
And then the present.




中身は、いつものアジアンスーパーのギフトカードに、かっぱえびせん等々。
Inside the box, there are a gift card of United Noodles, Japanese snacks...




ゴルフの時に被れるキャップや、Andyっちの好きなアメフトチームのTシャツや色んな種類の服でした。
The blue cap for when I play golf, the Green Bay T-shirt and other nice clothes.




Hit-chanからAndyっちへもまずはカード。
From me to Andy. He also started from the card.




いつも泊まるホテルのギフトカード。
The first gift is a gift card of White Fish Lodge where we usually stay up north.




次にちょっとした面白ろ封筒を用意してまして。。。
The next one is also an envelop and




簡単な宝探しゲーム。
there was a list of keys to find the tresure.




無事、宝の在りかを探し当てまして、中から出てきたのは。。。
He finely found the treasure and what's inside the box was




日本から取り寄せた備長炭です！
Bin-Cho-Tan which is Japanese genuine charcoal!!



こっちのテレビで日本の焼き鳥屋さんが備長炭で焼いているのを見て以来、我が家のグリルマンはいつかどこかで備長炭でBBQをしたいと願っていたのです。
Since Andy, my grill man, saw a Japanese Yakitori place using the charcoal on Food Network, he googled about it and has wanted to grill with it someday.



実は、この備長炭を日本の楽天で注文したのが11月の始め。。。
Actually, I ordered this online in the beginning of November.



最初はクリスマスプレゼントのメインとして購入したのですが、備長炭は空輸ではなく船便でしか送れないとの事で、届いたのが1月を過ぎたあたりだったんです。
I was supposed to make it a Christmas present, but the shop said they only can ship it, not by air plane, and it's going to take about 2 months. So, it was in January that I finally recieved the package.




とはいえ、それだったらちょうどバレンタインプレゼントで良くない？と思いまして、この日に贈る事にした訳です。
Though, I thought "Isn't it good for Valentine's day?" and gave it to Andy that day.




いやぁ、我が家のグリルマン、本当に心から喜んでくれまして、わざわざ日本から高いお金と長い時間をかけて取り寄せた甲斐がありました。
Oh my, my grill man was super excited for the gift, so I'm very glad that a lot of money and time just for this were totally rewarded.




という訳で、我が家のバレンタイン、今年も楽しくお祝いできました！
Okay, this is all about our Valentine's day this year. I'm glad we could celebrate it together!

サプライズ送別会 (Surprise Farewell Party)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?



新しいお店での仕事にも慣れてきまして、休日に余力が出てきましたので、今までに溜まっていたネタを一気に書いていきたいと思います。
I'm getting used to my new Caribou store and got some energy left on my off days, so I want to finish writing about some events I haven't updated here yet.



まず始めに、先日前に勤めていたカリブーのお店での最後の日を書いたんですが、その仕事終わりの様子をちょっと。。。
First off, I want to talk about the rest of my last day at the old Caribou store though I already wrote some about the day here.



まず、最後の日の朝に店長から。。。
On my last shift with the manager that morning,




「今日で最後やから。。。」と手渡されたカード。
he gave me this thank you card.




中には、アイルランドの詩をグーグル翻訳で訳した日本語が。
Inside, he nicely wrote down an Irish poet google translated to Japanese.



日本語は少しおかしな部分はあったのですが、日本人の私の為にわざわざ訳して、頑張ってカードに慣れない文字を書き写してくれたんだなぁと嬉しかったです。
The translated Japanese was little weird, but I really appreciate him for trying so hard to write it for me.



また、Hit-chanが働き始めた時からずっと一緒のシェリルも、最後だという事でこんなプレゼントをくれました。
Also, one of my ex co-workers, Cheryl who'd worked with me since I started working at the store gave me this gift.

アメリカでの初めての仕事という事で、緊張でガチガチだったHit-chanに優しく声をかけてくれたのもシェリルでした。
Since the job is my very first one in the US and I was so nervous when I started working, but Cheryl nicely and friendly talked to me and made me feel comfortable.




本当、改めてたくさんの人のお陰で同じ店で長く働く事ができ、異国の地での成長させてもらったと思います。
Again, I feel that so many people have supported me to work at the same place over 5 years and grow up in a foreign country.



そして、最後のシフトが終わった後、Andyっちから
Some days before my last day at the old Caribou, Andy said




「せっかくだから、今までの頑張りを祝って一緒にご飯を食べよう！」
"Why don't we have a dinner together after your last shift?"




と約束をしていたので、仕事終わりにそのまま近くのレストランに行きました。
so, we went to a restaurant directly from the Caribou after work.




そしたら、あらビックリ、最後に一緒に働いていたスタインも、最後の日に店に立ち寄ってくれたグラハムも、そのレストランにいたのです。
When we walked in the restaurant, it was a surprise! Stein and Graham were also there!










しかもしかも、Hit-chanが本当にお世話になっている、常連さんのバーンもわざわざ顔を出しに来てくれたのです！！
What's more is one of my favorite Caribou regulars and someone who has helped me in many ways, Verne, kindly appeared there for me too!!




実は、このバーンとの大切なエピソードもあるのですが、それはまたの機会に書きたいと思います。
I actually have a very memorable episode with Verne, but I want to write about it sometime later.




このパーティーの幹事、スタインはなんとケーキまで用意してくれてたんです！
The planner of this little party, Stein got me this cake too!!



そういえば、この数日前に一緒に働いている時に
Speaking of cake, when I saw that cake, I remembered about the day that we worked together some days before and he asked me



「Hitomi、ケーキの中で好きな種類何？？」

"Hitomi, what is your favorite cake?"





と聞かれたので、いつもどおりの会話だと思って、
So, I thought it was just another typical conversation with him and I didn't wonder at all.



「う～ん、アメリカのケーキはどれも私には甘すぎるけど、強いて言えば普通のバニラケーキかなぁ。」
"Mmm, American cakes are too sweet to me in general, but if I choose one, I like simple vanilla cake."




と答えていたんです。
I answered like that.




このケーキが出てきた時に「あっ！！！！」とスタインが私の為に色々考えてくれていたんだと本当に感動しました。
So, when Stein put this cake out, I was very surprised and the little pieces of my memory got together in my head. I was very amazed by his kindness.




ケーキのお金はヴァーンが出してくれたそうです。
Verne also funded Stein for the cake too.




本当にささやかなパーティーでしたが、Hit-chanの為だけに計画してくれたスタイン、足を運んでくれたグラハム、ヴァーンには本当に感謝しています。
It was a very small but meant big to me. I really appreciate Stein for planning everything for me, Verne and Graham for coming there just for me.




ミネソタに来て７年ですが、 こうやって節目に周りの人の愛を感じて、「あ～、こっちでの人生も順調に根付いてきてるんだなぁ。」と感慨深いものがあります。
It's almost 7 years since I moved to MN and like at this turning point, I can feel being loved by many people and see that my life has been rooted deeper in this country.




そんな訳で、Hit-chanの送別会の様子でした。

姪っ子ちゃん！(Our Lovely Niece!)

Hello!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going today?



久しぶりにブログを更新する気力ができました。(笑)
Oh yeah, long time no update!



2月の始めに6年近く勤めたお店から新しいお店に異動したのですが、やはり新しい環境に慣れるのには気力と体力が要りました。
I transfered to a new Caribou store in the begining of February and it took some time, energy and hussle to get myself ajdusted to the new enviroment.



最初の1週間は仕事を覚えるのにも一生懸命でしたが、新しい人間関係に入っていくのにも気を使いますよねぇ。
In the first week, I put lots of energy into not only learning new tasks but also being careful of knowing new people at work.



仕事のある日は仕事にエネルギーを注いで、家に帰るとできるだけボケ～っとしてまして、仕事の無い日は溜まった洗濯物とお掃除にエネルギーを注いでブログを書く気力が残っておりませんでした。
On my work days, I used up all my energy into the job and stayed lazy at home. Even on my off days, I spent too much time catching up with piled up laundry to write anything on my blog.



とはいえ、仕事の内容もドライブスルーの部分以外は前のお店と一緒だったのと、新しい同僚も皆良い人ばかりだったので、ようやく新生活のリズムが掴めてきて、こうしてブログを書く時間ができました。
Though, the drive-through part is the only difference from the old store and my new co-workers are so nice too, so I could get settled down to my new life style and finally got some time to reach my blog.



と、実はここまでは先週のお休みの日で書いていたのですが、結局のところ、やっぱり大量の洗濯物を片づけた所でガス欠になりました。（がーん！）
Oh well, I was actually writing till this part last weekend, but I ended up using my energy after I took care of lots of laundry. (Oh no!)



で、やっと今日、こうやってブログを書くことができております。
Anyways, I'm writing this today, March 10th.



今日はですねぇ、ここ最近で、いや、ここ何年かで一番嬉しかったニュースを皆様と共有したいと思います。
Today, I'd like to share this happy news which gave me the biggest smile in the last months, maybe, even in the last some years!



実は2月19日に、Hit-chanの兄夫婦に第一子が生まれました！（拍手）
The happy news is that my big brother and his wife in Japan just welcomed their first child on February 19th!!!



義姉は高齢出産に該当していたので、日本の母を通じて母子ともに健康だと連絡を受けた時は本当に嬉しかったです。
My sister in law was applied for pregnancy over 35, so I was very happy to haer that both she and her baby were healthy from my mother in Japan.



兄から赤ちゃんの写真を載せても良いと許可をもらったので。。。
I got a permit from my broter for his baby's pics, so here they are.




名前はふうちゃんになりました。
It's a girl!!! Her name is Fu(Hoo).







母も嬉しそう！！！羨ましい～！！
My mom visited them and she looks super happy! I envy her so much!



最近の写真。義姉の手かな？既に遊ばれてる感が。(笑) 可愛いなぁ。
This is a recent one. Is it my sister's hand? Fu-chan's already being teased.



Hit-chanの弟には子供が2人いるのですが、男の子。Andyっちのお兄さん夫婦にも3人子供がいるのですが、全員男の子。
My younger brother in Japan have 2 kids and both are boys. Andy's big brother have 3 kids and all of them are boys as well.



なので、ふうちゃんはAndyっちとHit-chanにとって初の姪っ子ちゃんです。
So, Fu-chan is the first niece to both Andy and Hit-chan.



こうやって離れて住んでいるので、すぐに飛んで会いには行けないのですが、次に日本に帰った時には絶対に会いに行って抱っこさせてもらいたいと思ってます。
I'm living far from my family in Japan and that can't let me fly to see them soon, but I definitely want to visit my brother and sister and hold my first niece!



兄夫婦は2人ともアースティックなので、この先どうやってふうちゃんを育てていくのか楽しみです。
Both of my big brother and his wife are very artistic, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they raise Fu-chan.



という訳で、我が家族に天使が舞い降りたお話でした！
