初日本旅行 １３ (The First Japan Trip 13)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?




さて、旅行日記第13弾です。
Okay, this is about the day 12 of the Japan trip.




この日は京都を発つ前の日でした。
This is the day before we leave Kyoto for Tokyo.




東京から京都へ移動する時に学んだので、大きなスーツケース二つはアパートから直接成田空港に送る事にしました。
We learned that it's super tiring to carry 2 big suitcases by Shinkansen was when we transferred from Tokyo to Kyoto, so we decided to ship our suitcases directly to Narita airport.




で、この日は親友あきさんの家にお邪魔する予定だったんですが、宅配のお兄さんがスーツケースを取りに来てくれるのを待っていないといけなかったので、予定よりも随分遅くなってしまいました。
On that day, we were going to visit my best friend, Aki's house, but we needed to wait for the delivery man to pick up our suitcases, so we left the apartment way later than we expected.




とはいえ、午後2時くらいにあきさんの家の最寄り駅に着くことができ、Hit-chanは2年ぶり、Andyっちは結婚式から5年ぶりの再会になりました。
We got to the closest station from Aki's house around 2 pm and Aki's there to pick us up. It's been 2 years for me and 5 years for Andy to see Aki since we saw her the last time.




で、今回、昨年生まれたあきさんの娘ちゃん、コロンちゃんにも会うことができました。
We could meet Aki's baby who's born in the last year too.





ママの顔が見えないと不安になったみたいですが、それでもHit-chanの腕の中で大人しくしていてくれました。
She was a little bit uncomfortable when she couldn't see her mom's face, but she's mostly calm and quiet in my arms.





最初の予定ではお昼近くにお邪魔できるかもという事だったので、あきさん、お昼ご飯を作っていてくれたんですが、予定よりかなり遅くなったので、ケーキを買ってお茶をする事にしました。
Aki was actually preparing lunch for us, but we decided to just have a tea and cake instead since we're late.

So delicious.




不覚にも、この時あきさんと一緒に写真を撮るのを忘れまして、記念写真は一枚もないのです。
We actually forgot to take any picture of us together.





Hit-chanもAndyっちも旅行後半のこの時にはかなり疲れ切っていて、あまりたくさんの事をする気力も体力も無くなっていたのです。（汗）
To be honest, this trip had been super hectic and that killed our energy and motivation to do things in the last.




とはいえ、弾丸でしたが、無事あきさんとコロンちゃんに会うことができて良かったです。
Still, we're glad to have some time to see Aki and her baby this time.




で、この日は日本でゆっくり食事できる最後のチャンスだという事で、Andyっちが食べたかったものを食べる為にレストランを予約しました。
And it was the last chance for us to have a special dinner in Japan and I booked a special restaurant so that Andy could try what he'd wanted to so long.

いやぁ、このディナー、本当に、本当に、美味しくかったです。
Oh my, this dinner was super super delicious!




Andyっちは念願の神戸牛の美味しさに感動してましたし、その他のお料理全てが美味しくて二人とも大満足でした。
Andy was amazed by the Kobe beef steak and we both really loved literally all the dishes.



Andyっちは、
Andy said



「このディナーは、今まで生きてきて食べたディナーの中で一番美味しかった。今までは、パリで食べたステーキが一番やったけど、それを越えたね。」
"I can say this is the best dinner that I've had in my life. Until now, the steak that I had in Paris was the best, but I would say this is better than that."




と、絶賛でした。





本当に日本でのスペシャルディナーを最高のものにしていただいたので、帰る時にウェイターさんに、
They made our special dinner more than the best, so I said to the server man




「夫が今までで一番のディナーだったと言うくらい、本当にどれも美味しかったです。是非シェフにお伝えください。」
"My husband says this is the best dinner ever in his life. All the dishes were just wonderful. Please tell the chef that we had a wonderful dinner tonight."




感動を伝えてしまいました。





ちなみに、このレストランに行く途中に酒屋さんを見つけ、Andyっち、帰りに日本産ウィスキーを2本買いました。
By the way, we found a liquor store on the way to this restaurant and stopped there and Andy bought 2 more bottle of Japanese whiskey on the way back to the apartment.











Andyっちは今回の日本旅行で、計5本のウィスキーを購入し、お陰で、Hit-chanは全然日本食品を持って帰れませんでした。（涙）
（今回はAndyっちの初日本旅行だったので、Hit-chanはかなり譲歩しましたよ。笑)
Andy actually purchased 5 bottles of whiskey on this trip and that's why I couldn't bring so much of Japanese food for myself.
(Yeah, this is his first visit, so I tried to let him do whatever he wanted to do as much as possible.)





そんな訳で、感動のディナーで大満足の夜でした。
Anyways, we had a special night thanks to the amazing dinner.

初日本旅行 １２ (The First Japan Trip 12)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




さて、日本旅行日記も後半に入りました。あと少しなので、もう少しだけお付き合いください。
Okay, my Japan trip diaries were more than halfway done and there's only a couple of days left. I hope you'll enjoy the rest too.




日本滞在最後の週の月曜日、京都駅前でレンタカーを借りました。
On the Monday of the last week in Japan, we rented a car right by Kyoto station again.




東京の恐怖のドライブとは違い、今回は快晴で良く周りが見えるのと、高速で簡単なルートだったので、とっても気持ちの良いドライブでした。
I had a scary night drive in Tokyo, but this time was way more comfortable thanks to the beautiful weather and the easy high way route.




右ハンドルなんで、いつもと反対側からAndyっちを撮影。（レンタカーも希望で慣れているマツダを選びました。笑)
Yeah, the driver's seat on the right side, so I took this pic from the opposite side. I requested a Mazda that Andy's used to driving.




で、着きました、鈴鹿サーキット。
Here's the destination, Suzuka circuit!




ここは、Andyっちの希望リストのトップに入っていた場所で、Hit-chanも色々下調べして予定を立てました。
This is literally on top of Andy's wish list, so I researched some beforehand.




開園10分前くらいに無事に着きまして、チケット購入後にしばらくゲートの前で待ちました。
We got there about 10 minutes before the open time and waited a little bit in front of the gate.





要所、要所は、やっぱりベイビーちゃん達も一緒です。
Of course, at famous tourist spots, we bring our babies with us.




鈴鹿サーキットはF1のレースが行われるサーキットに遊園地が併設されていまして、この日も遠足の小学生の団体や子供連れの家族が遊園地を楽しみに来ていました。
They have an amusement park next to the Formula one course, so there were some groups of an elementary school field trip and family playing in the park that day too.




とは言え、Andyっちの目的はサーキットを見る事なので、遊園地の乗り物乗り放題のチケットは買わず、とりあえず入園のみのチケットを買いました。
Though, the main and only purpose that we went there was seeing the circuit in person, so we just bought the admission tickets, not the free-ride ones.





遊園地側から歩道橋を渡り、サーキットに向かいます。
We entered from the park gate and walked toward the circuit through the bridge.










Andyっち、嬉しくて自然に笑顔が出てきます。
Andy was so excited and couldn't stop smiling.




ベイビーちゃんも、この日コースを走っていたバイクを鑑賞。
Our babies enjoyed watching running motorcycles on the course.




コースの下の地下道を通って、反対側の観客席にも行けました。
We walked through a underground path underneath the course and got to the other side.




ご覧の通り、コースを見て楽しんでるのはHit-chanとAndyっちだけで、貸し切り状態でした。(笑)
As you would know from the pictures, there's nobody else around, so all the views were just for us.




また、地下道を通って、スタートラインのある側へ行きました。
We went back to the side we're coming from through the underground path again and went to the side where you can see the starting line on the course.




この後、お目当ての物の時間までしばらくあったので、観覧車に乗ってみることにしました。
We wanted to do something special after that, but we still had some time to kill, so we decided to ride on the Ferris wheel.




このHit-chanの後ろに写ってる観覧車ね。
Yeah, the one behind me in this picture.





右下にチラッと写ってる芝生も、コースの形に芝が刈られています。
From the wheel, you can see the lawn which they cut it the circuit shaped at the bottom right.




走っているバイクも見えます。
You can see the motorcycles too.





ワクワクいっぱいです。(笑)
He's so thrilled!



観覧車を満喫した後は、Hit-chanお腹が空いていたので、フードコートに。。。
After we enjoyed the great view from the wheel, we headed to the food court since I was starving.

Doria Plate. (Doria is a Japanese dish which is some cheese and bechamel or tomato sauce on rice and baked.)




このフードコートに行ったのも11時過ぎくらいだったので、Hit-chanはこの日一番のお客さんでした。
We entered this food court around 11am and I was the first customer of the day. haha.




やっぱり、こうやって食べるご飯も日本人のHit-chanの胃に優しくて、美味しくいただきました。
Oh well, it's just a kind of food you can get anywhere in Japan, but it fits my stomach so well and easily made me very pleased.




で、お目当ての物の時間になったので、再びサーキットの方へ。。。
Okay now, we headed back to the circuit to do what Andy really wanted to try here.




これがAndyっちがやりたかったお目当てのものです。
This is what Andy wanted.



実はアトラクションの一つに、小さなカートに乗って、鈴鹿サーキットのコースの一部を走れるという物があるのです。
That's actually small carts and they let you to drive in on a part of the real course.




やはりこのアトラクションは特別なようで、アトラクション自体も時間限定で、チケットも乗り放題パスとは別に購入しないといけないのです。
This attraction is special and the time they sell the tickets and open the attraction is only about 1 hour. Also, the free-ride pass doesn't cover it and you need to separately buy the tickets.




でね、念願の鈴鹿を走れるという事で、1回では満足できないだろうと思い、チケットは2枚購入。
Of course, I assumed that Andy wouldn't get satisfied just by one ride, so we got 2 tickets.




もちろん、2回ともAndyっちが運転するので、Hit-chanは1回目はカメラマンに徹して、周りの景色を楽しむのは置いといて、頑張って思い出動画を撮りました。
Needless to day, Andy sat on the driving seat on both times, so I focused on recording a movie for his precious memory and kept watching my camera on the first time.

これが、カメラマンに徹したHit-chanが撮った動画です。興味のない人は全く面白くないと思うのでスルーを。
This is the movie that I recorded. I guess if you're not interested in car race, you can skip it because it'd be so boring.



レースゲームで何度も鈴鹿で運転してきたAndyっち。やっぱりゲームで走るのと、実際に走るのは違うらしく、ゲームでは分からないコースの高低差を肌で感じる事ができて感動していました。
Andy's driven on Suzuka circuit on a video game, but the reality is different from the game. He said it's so amazing and impressive for him to be able to see the vertical slope which he couldn't see on the video game at all.




1度目の走行ではカメラマンに徹していたHit-chanも、2度目の走行では素晴らしいお天気の下でコースを堪能できました。
On the first ride, I could enjoy the beautiful scenery too.





Andyっち、本当に喜んでくれまして、Hit-chanも大満足でした。
Andy really loved it and that made me so happy too.




やっぱり、この日も疲れが残っていまして、この鈴鹿での最大の目的を達した後は、色々とお土産を買って京都に戻りました。
Even though, I was still tried from the busy schedule on this day, so we headed back to Kyoto after we completed the main purpose and shopped some souvenirs.




最後に、Hit-chanがすごく感動したのはですねぇ、鈴鹿のスタッフの皆さんがどなたも本当に親切だった事です。
At last, what I was most impressed about Suzuka was the people working there.




駐車場の案内係の方から、チケットの窓口の方、フードコートの方、カートの先導の方、そしてお土産店の方。
The staff at the parking lot, the ticket booth, the food court, the cart attraction and the souvenir shop, everybody was so nice and kind.




やはり、世界規模のイベント、F１のレースを創り上げるには、こうやってスタッフの方、一人一人のプロ意識の高さがあっての事なんだなぁと納得＆感動したのです。
I assume that every single staff needs to have such professional passion and pride in their jobs so that they can manage and create the world scale and big race event.



素晴らしいお天気と素晴らしいスタッフの方々のお陰で、本当に素敵な思い出ができました。
Thanks to the beautiful weather and the great staff, we could make another wonderful memory in Japan.

初日本旅行 １１ (The First Japan Trip 11)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




さて、今日は旅行日記第11弾です。
Okay, today is about the day 10 of the Japan trip.




この旅行日記でも何度も口にしているのですが、基本、この旅行では常にAndyっちもHit-chanもお疲れ気味でございます。
I guess I mentioned this several times here, but Andy and I were both so tired most of the time because of the busy schedule during the trip.




で、この日も予定は昼以降にしてもらって朝は休んでいたんですが、Andyっちの体調がイマイチ。
On this day, we're tired again and being lazy in the morning. Andy wasn't feeling good either.




この日は妹ツインズ、スイッチ＆スカッチとスカッチの彼氏さんと一緒に遊びに行く予定で、午後2時くらいに待ち合わせをしていたんですが、Andyっちの体調の様子をみて、もう少し休ませてもらう事に。。。
We're supposed to hang out with my little twin sisters, Swich&Skatch and Skatch's boyfriend and meet up them around 2pm, but like I said, Andy was not feeling well, so we asked them to give us more time to see how he'll feel after a while.




その後、あまり待たせてしまうのも申し訳ないので、Hit-chanだけ先に合流させてもらう事にしました。
After a while, I was feeling so bad for them to wait for us that long, so I decided to join them first.




この日、優しいスカッチの彼氏さんが車を出してくれ、Hit-chanが買いに行きたかったジーンズのお店に連れていってくれました。
So, Skatch's sweet boyfriend gave me a ride and took me to a jean's shop because I wanted to go.




ミネソタでももちろんジーンズは売ってるんですが、こっちのお店は日本のように「無料でお裾直し、30分ほどでできます！」という、めちゃくちゃ便利なサービスはないのです。
Of course, we can buy jeans here in MN, but they don't do "We'll cut the hems for free in 30mins!" like most of the shops in Japan.




友人のキャットはウエストさえ合えば裾を切る必要はないと言いますが、151㎝しかないHit-chanに合うジーンズを見つけるのはほぼ不可能です。
My friend, Kat, was saying that she didn't need to cut the hems of jeans at a shop at all, but it's almost impossible for me to find a perfect size jeans here since I'm only 5 feet tall.




以前、あらゆるお店を回って最終的に見つけたのはギャップキッズのジーンズ。（爆）
I actually looked around some different shops to find me a pair of perfect size jeans before, but the only ones that I could find were Gap kids ones. lol




しばらく、そのギャップキッズのジーンズで済ませていたんですが、やっぱりスタイルがどうしてもキッズ。
And I was wearing those Gap kids ones for a while, but the style was kiddy.




なので、今回の帰国の際は、前回同様、ジーンズを買って帰ろうと思っていたのです。
That's why I really want to get some pairs of jeans on this trip.




で、この連れて行ってもらったジーンズ専門店で自分の体にピッタリ合うジーンズを4本購入し、無事ピッタリ裾直しをしてもらいました。
I looked at so many jeans and tried them on one after one and found 4 pairs after all. Of course, they cut the hems perfectly to my length!




ここで申し訳なかったのが、一緒について来てくれていた妹ツインズやスカッチの彼氏さんを待たせてしまった事。
Still, what I was feeling so bad about was that i had to make my twins and Skatch's boyfriend for a long time just for me.




せっかく集まったから、もっと皆で楽しめるような事をできれば良かったなぁと反省。次の帰国の際は、もっともっと皆で一緒に楽しめる事をしたいです。
It was a very rare time that we could be together, so I'd rather do something that everyone could have fun with. I do want to have more time to hang out with them next time.



で、無事にジーンズ4本買った後、体調の戻ったAndyっちと合流して。。。
After I got 4 pairs of jeans, Andy got better and joined us and we headed to...





焼肉！牛角ね。
Korean BBQ restaurant!




これはAndyっちはもちろん、Hit-chanの強い希望でした。
This is what Andy wanted to do for sure, but that's one of the top things on my list too.

























これは、スカッチと彼氏さんがめっちゃ食べてたネギご飯やったかな？





Hit-chanはもちろん、白ごはん大を片手に、肉とキムチで腹いっぱい食べました。(笑)
I got a big bowl of white rice on my left hand and had lots of meat and kimchi with my right hand.




本当、スカッチの彼氏さんのお陰で、念願だったジーンズが4本買えたんですが、さっきも言ったように、皆で楽しい事があまりできなかったのが本当に残念でした。
Like I said, I was really happy that I could get me jeans, but I was so sad that I couldn't have more fun time with them.



まだまだ日本帰国初心者なので、帰国を重ねるうちにもっと時間を有効的に使えるようになるのかな。
We're still beginners to take a homecoming trip, so I hope that the more trips we take, the better we can arrange things and time.

初日本旅行 １０ (The First Japan Trip 10)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?



こちらミネソタは、比較的暖かい日が続いておりまして、寒がりHit-chanはあわよくば、このまま暖冬でお願いしますと祈っております。
Here in MN, it's been relatively calm and warm and me who doesn't like cold weather is strongly hoping that this winter won't go so harsh.



で、つい先日、Andyっちは出張中で、家で一人寂しく過ごしていたんですが、あまりに外の天気が良いので、一人庭に出てストレッチしました。(笑)
And the other day, I was staying home alone since Andy;s out of town for work. I usually stay indoor all day long, but it was so nice out and made me feel to go out in the back yard to do some stretch exercise.




紅葉も見頃になってきています。
The leaves are in the best season too.




さて、今日は日本旅行記第10弾です。
Okay, I want to write about the day 9 of the Japan trip.




今回は主に食べ物です。
Yeah, it's mostly about food today.




この旅行、初日本になるAndyっちの為に、主にAndyっちの行きたい場所、食べたい物を中心に計画したんですが、この日は妹スカッチと彼氏さん、母と一緒にAndyっちの食べたい物を梯子する事にしました。というのも、二人だけでは食べられる量も決まっていますしねぇ。
I actually planned this trip based on where Andy wanted to go and what Andy wanted to eat, so we asked one of my sister, Skatch, her boyfriend and my mom to go to 2 different restaurants together because only 2 of us wouldn't be able to eat that much food.





まずは北京ダック。

目の前で切ってもらい。。。
He cut the skin off right in front of our table.









Andyっちにとっては初、Hit-chanは二回目だったんですが、初めて食べた北京ダックは結構高級なレストラン、今回はかなりお安いレストランだった為、最初に食べた時のような感動はありませんでした。
（やっぱり、ケチるとダメですなぁ。）
This is Andy's first time and my second time to eat Peking duck, but I had the first time at the more decent restaurant and this time at this casual restaurant, so I have to admit that the first time one was way better than this one, to be honest. (Yeah, you should pay more to get a better thing in general.)



とはいえ、初挑戦のAndyっちは結構気に入ってくれたようでした。
Still, Andy liked this one too.





お肉でピーマンと炒め物。これはかなり美味しかったです。
Stir fried duck and green peppers. Everyone loved this most!





スープはまぁまぁ。
The soup was okay.




で、この後、二つ目のレストランまでの間に、これもAndyっちのしたかったパチンコをしに行きました。
Before we headed to the second restaurant, we stopped at a place Andy wanted to go which is Pachinko.




Hit-chan、日本にいた頃もほとんどパチンコはやらなかったので、妹スカッチの彼氏さんに手ほどきを受けて、千円ずつだけ遊びました。
I haven't played Pachinko so much even when I was living in Japan, so we asked Skatch's boyfriend to teach us how to play it. We decided to play it just with 1000 yen (about $10).




AndyっちもHit-chanもすぐに負けてしまいましたが、一緒にやった母が当たったので、Andyっちに当たっている様子を見せる事ができました。
We lost the 1000 yen so quick, but we could see how my mom won about 5000 yen.





それにしてもうちの母、こういうのに結構強いんですよ。前にラスベガスのスロットで＄800当てた事もあるしね。(笑)
Actually, my mom is so lucky about these stuff and she has won $800 in Las Vegas before! Haha.




兎にも角にも、Andyっちは初パチンコを楽しんだんですが、事前に「パチンコってめっちゃうるさいよ。」と教えてあげていたのに、実際のお店の中のあまりに音にかなりビックリしていましたよ。
Anyways, Andy had much fun with the first Pachinko, but he was so overwhelmed by the very big noise inside the Pachinko place even though we warned him about it beforehand.




で、その後皆で二つ目のレストランへ。
After the little fun gambling, we went to the second restaurant of the night.





ひれ酒～。
Sake with dried Fugu (Puffer fish) fin.




そう、ふぐ屋さんです！これもAndyっちの希望。
Yes, it's a Fugu restaurant which is also one of the places Andy wanted to go.

あ、あと、白子も食べたんですが、写真が悪すぎて写真はなしです。
We also had Fugu milt, yeah milt, and I couldn't take the pic well, but it's tasty.





この三人のお蔭で、Andyっちの食べたかったもの、二つも一日で制覇できました～。
Thanks to these 3, we could cross 2 foods on our list just on one day!

という訳で、旅行9日目でした！

初日本旅行 ９ (The First Japan Trip 9)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going today?




さて、日本旅行8日目の後半です。
This is about the rest of the day 8.




マツダ本社の見学を終えた後、広島に行くならぜひ行きたいと思っていた場所に行きました。
After the tour at Mazda, we headed to the place where we wanted to go for sure.










はい、広島ドームです。
Yes, Atomic bomb dome.




歴史に興味のあるAndyっちはもちろんの事、Hit-chanも小学生の頃から興味があってずっと行きたかったのです。
Andy's generally interested in history and I've also wanted to come here since I was in elementary school.





悲しい歴史があるのに、青空に映えて美しかったです。
This is an icon of tragic history, but it was so beautiful under the clear blue sky.











ベイビーちゃんも記念に。

平和公園を通って。。。
We walked through the peace park to...





資料館へ
the peace museum.




展示品のほとんどは教科書やインターネットで見たことのある物でしたが、やはり説明文に故人のお名前やその時の状況、遺品を寄付された家族の方のお名前があると、一気に物語が身近に感じられました。
Most of the things at the museum were what I'd already seen in a history textbook or on internet, but every single item with the real personal names of the victims and the families made me feel the story very closer than before.




Andyっちも貴重な資料をたくさん見る事ができ、とても満足そうでした。
Andy was also glad that he could see those important historic things.




本当はこの後、体力に余裕があれば宮島まで足を運ぼうと思っていたのですが、連日のハードなスケジュールで疲れていたHit-chanはギブアップしました。
After this, we're supposed to go to Miyajima if we had enough energy, but I was too tired to make it happen because of the busy trip schedule.




そのまま京都に帰るのも勿体ないので、広島駅にて。。。
Though, I didn't want to go back to Kyoto straight, so we stopped at this restaurant in Hiroshima station.





広島焼き。
Hiroshima-yaki!





広島なので、牡蠣をトッピングしたものを。
Hiroshima is famous for the delicious oysters, so we ordered one with oysters.





旨かった～。
So good!



Andyっち、Hit-chanの作った大阪スタイルのお好み焼きは食べた事があったのですが、広島焼きは初挑戦で、結果広島焼きの方が好きだそうです。
（素人のお好み焼きVSプロの広島焼き、そりゃあ、プロが勝つでしょう。次は絶対プロのお好み焼きも食べさせてあげたいです。）
There are actually 2 different styles of Okonomi-yaki, Osaka and Hiroshima style and Andy's liked my homemade Osaka style before, but he'd never tried Hiroshima style. And he tried Hiroshima style this time and liked it better than my homemade Osaka style.
(Amateur Osaka style VS Professional Hiroshima style, yeah, I can't beat a pro. So, I want to take him to an Osaka style restaurant next.)





で、京都に戻り。。。
And we're back to Kyoto.




やはり、この日は疲れていたので、泊まっているアパートのすぐ側にあるホテルのレストランにて夕食。
We're so tired that night, so we just picked up a restaurant right by our apartment for the dinner.















Andyっちのお気に入りになった、豚の角煮。
He really loved this pork belly.









Hit-chanはお茶漬け。
Rice bowl with hot tea.




海苔茶漬け。同じ値段で鮭があったから、そっちの方が良かったかも。(笑)
It was with seaweed, but they had one with salmon for the same price and I felt that I should've had the salmon one instead. haha)




Andyっち、「こうやって、適当にお店に入っても、ちゃんとしたレベルの食事ができるのは、日本の良いところだよねぇ。」と満足のご飯でした。
Like Andy said "What's so nice about Japan is that we can have decent foods even if we randomly pick up a restaurant." we had a nice dinner again.




という事で、日本旅行8日目、広島旅行後半でした。
