さよなら、サンセッツ (Goodbye, Sunsets)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?





Hit-chanは先週はちょっと慌ただしく過ごしておりましたが、今日になってようやく落ち着いてブログを書く気になりました。
I had hectic days last week, but gradually settle down enough to feel like updating my blog today.






さて先日、今年に入って一番くらいのビックリニュースがありました。
So the other day, I had the biggest news this year.





そのビックリニュースというのが、Hit-chanが働いているカリブーの近くにあるレストランが２５年の歴史に幕を閉じるというのです。
The news is that "Sunsets" which is the restaurant near my Caribou would end the history of 25years.





今までに、家族や友達と何度も利用させてもらっていて、お気に入りのレストランだったので本当に残念です。
I'm so sad to hear the news because it's one of my favorite restaurants and I've been there with my friends or family a lot.





最後のお別れと感謝の気持ちを伝えるべく、Andyっち、ブラッド君と一緒に、最終日になる日に食事へ行きました。
So, on the very last day of Sunsets, Andy, Brad and I had a "thank you and goodbye" dinner together.






この、大きな時計のある外観が好きだったんですよねぇ。
I really liked the big clock.





何年か後に懐かしめるように、メニューも写真に撮っておきました。
I took a picture of the menu so that I can look back this nice restaurant some years later.





この日のメニューには、お店からの最後のメッセージも載っていました。
A thank you message from the staff was on the menu.

















サンセットでの最後の食事、いつもの好きなものを食べるか、今まで食べた事のなかったものを食べるのか悩みましたが、Andyっちに「いつもの好きなのにした方が良いんじゃない？」と言われ、お気に入りのメニューを頼むことに。
I was really wondering if I should eat my favorite or something new, but Andy pushed my back by saying "You should eat something you like." so I ordered my usual dish.





この日は、材料が無くなりしだい売り切れとの事でしたが、幸いにもHit-chanが頼んだものはまだありました。
They were rinnung out of some items, but luckily, they still had everything for my order.





で、頼んだのが。。。
What I ordered is...






Andyっちとシェアしてフレンチオニオンスープ
French onion soup. I shared it with Andy.





お気に入りのシェリーズサラダ。（ココナッツをつけて揚げたチキンのサラダ）
My favorite salad, Sheri's salad. (Green salad with pan-fried chicken with coconut)






Andyっちは悩んでいたもう一つのメニューが売り切れだったので、ハンバーガー
Andy was deciding between 2 dishes, but he ordered hamburger since the other one was sold out.






ブラッド君は、頼んだものがことごとく売り切れだったので、ポテトサラダだけ
Everything Brad ordered was sold out, so he just got potato salad.






最後に三人で来られたのは良かったです。
I'm so happy that 3 of us could go there together on the last day.





食事が終わる頃にはお店の名前にふさわしく、綺麗な夕日が見られました。
When we're finishing our meal, we could see the beautiful sunset perfectly matching the restaurant name.












お店は新しいオーナーに買い取られ、今後はもっと高級志向のレストランになるそうです。
I heard that the restaurant was sold to new owners and will be remodeled to a fancy restaurant.




料理や雰囲気が良く、値段もそんなに高くなかったサンセッツだったので、本当たくさん利用させてもらいました。
Sunsets was offering the beautiful view, nice foods and comfortable atmosphere for reasonable price, so I've used this place quite often.





うちの母がこっちに来てくれる時はぜひ案内したいレストランだったのに、それが叶う前に無くなってしまって残念です。
I was thiking to take my mom here when she visits us someday, so it's too bad that I can't make it happen anymore.





２５年間、本当にお疲れ様。そして、ありがとう。
Anyways, thank you so much for the 25years of your wonderful service.

がまくんとかえるくん (Frog and Toad)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




こちらミネソタ、寒いか暖かいかと聞かれれば、まだまだ寒いのですが、今日はカリブーのお客さんからも「春の気配がするね～。」という言葉が出てくるくらい、お日様の存在を今までよりも近くに感じる事ができるようになってきました。
Here in MN, it's still cold if you ask me whether it's cold or warm, but we can start feeling the sun closer as one of my Caribou regulars said "The spring is in the air!" today.




さて、先日の日曜日ですが、Hit-chanの友達、スカーレットのグランパ＆グランマ（フッパ＆フッマ）が出ているお芝居を見に行きました。
The last Sunday, Andy and I went to see a musical that Scarlet's grandparents (Huppa&Humma) played on.





前に一度見に行った事がありとっても楽しかったので、今回も喜んでAndyっちと二人で行きました。
We have seen their musical once before and loved it so much, so we were so excited to see it again.





今回も前回とは違う高校ですが、近くの高校の劇場での上演でした。
They had the play at a nearby high school auditorium.






こちらの高校は本当に立派な劇場を持ってますねぇ。
High schools in MN have a really nice theater.






アマチュアの劇団ですが、セットも凝っていて素敵でした。
They are an amateur group, but the set was very neat.




今回の演目は、アーノルド・ローベル原作のがまくんとかえるくんシリーズの「ふたりはともだち」をアレンジしたミュージカルでした。
This time, they played "A Year With Frog And Toad" which was based on a children's book named "Frog and Toad Are Friends" by Arnold Lobel.

前回観た「ミュージックマン」は、セリフについていくのが難しかったのですが、今回は子供向けという事はもちろん、Hit-chanが小さい頃好きだったお話だったという事もあって、セリフが聞きやすくとっても楽しめました。
Compared to "The Music Man" we saw the last time, since not only "Frog and Toad" was easy enough for kids but also I used to love the book when I was little, I could enjoy it much more.




今回も前回同様、アマチュアにも関わらず、演者さんを始め、照明、演出、振り付け、衣装、セット、生バンドと全てにおいて本当に素晴らしくとても感動させてもらいました。
Even though they're amateurs, besides the amazing actors and actresses, the lighting, production, costume, choreography and live band were all amazing and wonderful.





お芝居が終わった後は、フッパ＆フッマにご挨拶しに行きました。
After the play, we greeted Huppa&Humma.






二人は睡蓮の葉っぱ役だったんですが、めちゃくちゃ可愛かったです。
They played as lilly pad and they're so pretty.





で、フッマがわざわざ声をかけてくれたお陰で、主役の一人、がまくん役の方と写真を一緒に撮らせてもらえました。
Humma kindly asked the man who played as the toad to take a picture with me.






本当に素敵な声で、優しくて可愛らしいがまくんでした。
He played the sweet and cute toad with such a nice voice.





アマチュア劇団なのでチケットはそんなに高くないのですが、お芝居自体は本当に素晴らしくて、子供が生まれたらぜひぜひ一緒に観にきたいなぁと思いました。
The play quality was high, but the ticket price was not, so I definitely want to let my kids see this nice theater play someday too.
