どもども。






皆さん、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？






今日はとっても良いお天気で、半袖でも外を歩けますよ。






さて、今日はなるほど英語。






今回は簡単に。






英語の女性の名前Karenさんってありますよね。






あのカーペンターズのボーカルもKarenさんですよね。






でね、日本語ではこの名前、カレンさんって言いますよねぇ。






でもね、英語で実際に聞いてみると違うんです。







で、どう聞こえるかって言うと。。。





キャレン！！
（Hit-chanの耳で聞くとね。）





綴りのKarenと発音のキャレンが初めて繋がった時、「え～、カレンさんじゃないの！！？？」ってビックリしましたよ。






いやぁ、やっぱり、アメリカで生活する事で知る事は未だにいっぱいありますよ。





という訳で、今日はこの辺で～！！！

プチバケーション3日目 (The 3rd Day Of The Vacation)

どもども。
Hi!






皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?





Hit-chan、気づいたんですが、働いている方が元気な気がします。
Me? I kind of noticed that I'm healthier when I work.





というのも、元々出不精な性格なので、お休みの日と言えば一日中パソコンで動画を観ながらお菓子を食べたりしてしまうんですよねぇ。
I basically like staying indoor, so I usually spend all day to watch You Tube or something as munching snack on my off day.





動かな過ぎて逆に疲れるという悪循環。(笑)
So, I get so tired in the end of the day since I stay still on a chair too long.





さて、今日は、プチバケーションの最終日の様子です。
Anyways, I want to write about the last day of the vacation today.






この日のお天気は気持ちの良い快晴。
This day was so sunny and refreshing.





まずはここへ。。。
We headed here first.













そう、ミニゴルフ。これなら、ぎっくり腰をやったAndyっちもできるしね。
Yeah, mini golf because it's not that hard for Andy who hurt his back the day before.






で、実は、Hit-chan、生まれて2回目、Andyっちに勝ったんですよ！！イェイ！！
Actually, I beat Andy!!! That was the second time!!! Yay!!






ミニゴルフの後はNisswaという町に寄って。。。
After mini golf, we stopped at Nisswa and...






Chocolate Oxっていうお菓子屋さんでお買い物
shopped at a candy shop called Chocolate Ox.






買ったのはこちら。
I got these.






色々な味のトリュフチョコレート。ある方へのお土産に。（詳しい事は明日の記事で。）
Yeah, truffle chocolates with different flavors. This is for someone special. (I'll talk about it on the next article.)





もちろん、自分たち用にもいくつか買いました。
Of course, I got some for us too.





で、ランチを食べに行きました。
After the quick shopping, we went to have a lunch.

The restaurant, Bar Harbor.



































素敵な内装です。
Their very nice interior.






テーブルからの景色も湖が綺麗です。
The lake view from the table was so nice too.






オーダーしたのは、クラムチャウダーと。。。
We ordered the clam chowder and...






Andyっちはステーキサンドイッチに
Andy had the steak sandwich.





Hit-chanはウォールアイサンドイッチ
I ordered the walleye sandwich.





Andyっち、このレストランが好きだったんですが、何度か行ってサービスが良くなかったので行かなくなってたんです。
Actually, Andy used like this restaurant, but he quit going here after he had a bad service some times.





でも、オーナーさんが変わったという話を聞いたので、今回行ってみる事にしたんですが、サービスも食べ物もとっても良かったんで、今度はディナータイムに行ってみようと思います。
Though, we heard that they got a new owner, so we decided to give it a try. Then, we really liked their food and service this time and now want to try their dinner menu next time.





という訳で、今回のプチバケーションは短いながらも色々ありましたが、最後は素敵なランチで締めくくる事ができました。
So, we had some dramatic moments on this short vacation, but we could end it with a delicious lunch.

プチバケーション2日目 (The 2nd Day Of The Vacation)

どもども。
Hello.





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's everything going in your life?




Hit-chanは相変わらず元気です。
Everything is going pretty good in my life.





さて、プチバケーション2日目の様子です。
So, I want to write about 2nd day of our short vacation.





この日、少し曇り空で寒かったんですが、パパママと約束していたゴルフをしに行きました。
The 2nd day was a little cloudy and chilly, but we were going to play golf with Ray and Mary.





ゴルフはプレイが始まったら写真は撮りにくくなるので、プレイをする前に。。。
It's harder to take pictures once I start playing, so before we started...




















もちろん、新しいドライバーを持参
Of course, I brought my new driver!!







パパママも準備オッケー
Ray&Mary got ready too!





でね、少し寒かったんですが、順調にプレイを続けてました、9ホール目までは。
So, it was a little bit chilly, but we enjoyed playing until the end of the 9th hole...





9ホール目が終わり、10ホール目に入った頃、Andyっちに異変が。。。
After the 9th hole, we got to the 10 hole and I found that something bad was going on Andy.




凄い苦しそうな顔をして、ゴルフカートに寄りかかって、「う～ん。」と息をするのも辛そうな感じ。
He looked pained and even hard to breathe as leaning on the golf cart.





一体何が起こったのか分からず、こっちも「どうしたん？？」と聞くことしかできず。。。
I didn't know what happened to him at all and all I could do was asking him "What's wrong??"





で、ようやく本人が話せるようになって言うには、どうもぎっくり腰をやったようなのです。
He barely could speak and told us that he got a crick in his back.





もちろんプレイ続行は不可能なので、そのままホテルの部屋に帰る事に。
Without a doubt, we couldn't keep playing, so we decided to go back to our hotel room.





とはいえ、車に乗るのも大変、車から降りてホテルの部屋に行くのも大変。
Even though, it's pretty painful for him to get in and off from my car and walk to our hotel room.





Andyっち、痛みに耐えながら、何とかホテルにたどり着きました。
He barely reached to inside the room.




で、その後はAndyっちの腰を冷やしたり、温めたり、痛みどめを飲んだり、とにかく痛みが治まるのを待ちました。
After he got back in the room, he took Advil and I put ice or heating pouch on his back and we just waited until the pain got less.





そうこうしている間、Hit-chanも疲れて眠たくなって、ソファで寝てしまいました。
In the meantime, I also got tired and eventually fell asleep on the couch.





目を覚ました頃には、Andyっち、歩けるくらいに回復しており、夕食も食べに行くことができました。
When I woke up after a couple of hours, Andy was recovered enough to walk, so we went out to eat.






夕食の後は、またまた持ってきた宮崎駿作品、「風立ちぬ」を一緒に観て過ごしました。
After the dinner, we watched another Japanese movie again.





まぁ、そういう訳で、2日目は途中までゴルフを楽しみ、途中からはAndyっちのぎっくり腰の手当で終わりました。(笑)
So, like this, we half enjoyed golf in the morning and spent the afternoon mostly for taking care of Andy's back on the 2nd day.

プチバケーション1日目 (The 1st Day Of The Vacation)

どもども。
Hello!





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?





昨日、バケーションから帰ってきて、今日は幸運にもHit-chanはお休み。
Andy and I came back home from vacation yesterday and I'm luckily off today.




Andyっちはお仕事で、何だか悪いので、Andyっちの仕事用シャツにアイロンかけて過ごしました。
Andy's working and I felt a little bit bad for him, so I did ironing on his work shirts for him.





さて、プチバケーションの様子を書いていきたいと思います。
I'd like to write about our short vacation today.




金曜日の午前中、Andyっちは家で仕事をして、午後から家を出ました。
Last Friday, Andy worked from home in the morning and we left home in the afternoon.






行きは生憎の雨。
Unfortunately, it was raining hard on the way up north.





本当は行きにどこか自然公園に寄り道して、ハイキングでもして行こうかと話していたんですが、ちょっと寒いのもあって断念しました。
We were originally planning to stop by a park and do hiking on the way up north, but we gave up because of the rain and the cold temperature.





で、クロスレイクのホテルに着いたのは3時前。
We got to the hotel in Cross Lake before 3 pm.





今回の部屋はこちら。
Here's the room.





部屋の窓の外にはゴルフコースがすぐ見えます。
The view from our room was a golf course.





暖炉も付いています。
There was a fireplace in the room.





ホテルはキングサイズで。。。
The bed was king size and...





我が家のベイビーちゃん達も、もちろん連れてきました。
we brought our babies with us, of course.




で、お腹が空いていたので、ホテルから歩いて3分、いつも行くピザ屋さんに行く事に。。。
We were so hungry then, so we headed to a pizza place which is located 3 mins walk away from the hotel.













Andyっちはもちろんビール。
Without a doubt, he ordered beer.






Hit-chanはもちろん、コーヒー。
I had coffee again for sure.






Andyっちはミニサイズと・・・
Andy had a mini sized and...





スモールサイズのピザ
small sized pizza.





Hit-chanはいつも同じ、カシュ―チキンサラダ
I ordered cashew chicken salad as always.





で、その後、パパママとも合流。
After a while, Ray and Mary gathered too.











この日は、これでホテルの部屋に戻り、持ってきていたDVD、三谷幸喜さんの「みんなのいえ」を観て、のんびり過ごしました。
After we just had a light dinner on the day, Andy and I watched a Japanese movie which we brought from home.






という訳で、一日目はこんな感じでした。
This is how the 1st day went.

Helium

どもども。







皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？






今さっき、プチバケーションから戻ってきました。






今回もちょっとしたハプニングはありましたが、楽しく過ごす事ができました。






バケーションの様子はまた後で書くとして、今日のところはなるほど英語でいきたいと思います。






カリブーコーヒーでは、毎日トリビアクイズボードなるものがメニュー横に出されて、それに正解すると10セントOFFになるんです。





で、毎日のトリビアクイズから新しい発見も多く、今日はその中の一つ。





早速、タイトルのHeliumですが、どう読みます？






日本でもよく聞く、吸い込むと声が変わるガス、ヘリウムの事なんですが、英語の発音はちょっと違うんですよ。






英語での発音は。。。






ヒリアムなんですよ！！
（注、Hit-chanの耳で聞くと。）






いやぁ、これを初めて聞いた時は、「へぇ～！」とえらく驚きました。






という事で、皆さんも英語でヘリウムの事をいう時はヒリアムって言ってみましょう！
