めいちゃんの初日本 vol.20 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 20)

How are you doing today?





さて、今日は日本旅行記第20弾でございます。
Okay, this is vol.20 of the Japan diaries.




この旅行記の中で先日チラッとお話したんですが、Hit-chanがミネソタに引っ越す直前、少しだけレストランのキッチンで働いていた事がありました。
I talked about this here the other day, but I worked at a restaraunt as a kitchen staff for some months before I moved to MN.





当時、フィアンセビザを申請してそれが許可されるまで待っている時間で、いつ許可されるか分からない間に何もしないのも手持無沙汰だったので、実家の近くのイオンモールに入っているレストランのキッチンでのアルバイトを始めたんです。
At the time, I had applied for a fiance visa and was waiting for the approval. Though, you don't know how long it will take to get your visa approval in general, and my case was not an exception either. So, I started the part time job at the restaurant in the mall near my parents' house since I didn't want to wait without doing anything until my visa got approved.




そのアルバイトをしていたのは半年くらいの短い間だったんですが、その時に一緒に働いていたお友達、春日さんとは今でもお付き合いがあります。
It was only for 6 months or so that I worked at the restaurant, but I'm still friends with Kasuga-san who I used to work together with at the time.





前回の帰国の時も一緒にランチをしたんですが、今回も「ぜひぜひ、ランチでもしましょう！」という事になって、日本にいる間に２回ほど一緒に楽しい時間を過ごさせてもらいました。
We had a lunch date when I was in Japan for IVF too, so it was very natural for us to set up another lunch date this time again. So, we ended up hanging out and had a great time together twice while I was in Japan.





でね、最初のランチデートの日なんですが、春日さんが「いやぁ、実は昨日の夜、仕事から帰る途中に自転車でこけてん！！」と言って、手には湿布と包帯が巻かれてあって、それはそれはもう痛々しい姿で可哀そうでした。
When we had the first lunch date, Kasuga-san showed up with a white bandage on her hand and looked so painful. So, I asked her what happened, and she said, "Oh well, I actually fell off my bike on my way home from work last night!" Oh, poor K-san!!!





Hit-chanが「ほんまに大丈夫なん～！？」と聞いたら、「いやぁ、何とかかんとか。こけた時は明日Hit-chanと会わなあかんのに～！って思ったわ。笑」って言ってくれて本当に嬉しかったです。
I was super suprised and asked, "Are you really okay??" Then, she said, "Yeah, I'm hanging in there somehow. When I fell off, I was saying to myself, OMG! I gotta see Hit-chan tomorrow!!!! Haha"





その時のランチデートの時はそんな事もあって写真を撮らずに終わってしまったんですが、２回目のランチデートの時は忘れずにちゃんと写真を撮ってきました。
That's why I didn't take pictures at the time. Though, K-san was recovered pretty well when we had the 2nd lunch date, and I remembered to take some picutres then.





この日のデートの場所も例の実家からすぐ行けるイオンモール。
We met up at the mall near my parents' house again.





Hit-chanはバス一本で行けるので助かるし、春日さんも毎日働いている職場なので無理なく来れるとの事だったので、お互い好都合だったんですねぇ。
It's really convenient for both of us since I could get there by one bus line, and Kasuga-san also works there almost everyday.






この日もめいを連れてのデートだったので、早めに行って以前に妹の彼氏さんに教えてもらったプレイエリアで少し遊ばせることに。。。
Of course, I brought May-chan with me too. So, I decided to get there a little early and let May-chan play at the free kids area.






今回ランチしたのは春日さんが働いている和食屋さん。帰国中２回目です。
Then, we met up with Kasuga-san and went to this Japanese restaurant again. K-san actually works at the restaurant, and it was the 2nd time for me to eat there during the stay in Japan.





前回行った時の様子はこちらで、この時も書いているんですが、このレストランこそがHit-chanがかつて春日さんと一緒に働いていたお店なんです。
I wrote about the lunch date with my twins at the same restaurant on this article and I mentioned this, but Kasuga-san and I used to work together at the restaurant.





が、Hit-chanが辞めた後にお店はリニューアルして、Hit-chanが働いていた時とは全く別物になってしまったんですけどね。
Though, they moved and transformed the restaurant to a completely different style after I quit, so it's pretty much a different restaurant from what I worked at.





「前回はこけた直後で大変やったけど、もう随分マシになったよ～。」と春日さん。「本当良かった～。」とHit-chan。
"I had much pain to walk last time but I'm doing much better today!" by K-san. "Oh, it's really good!" by Hit-chan.





この日はこちらのセットを注文。めいがポテトを食べられるかなぁと思ってのチョイスでもあります。
I ordered this meal lunch. I chose this one because I thought that May-chan might want to eat the fries.





日本にいる時に電車の中などで愚図るといつもHit-chanの時計を渡して遊ばせていました。この時もちょっと愚図ったんだろうねぇ。
When May-chan was fussy in a public area like on a train, I always let her play with my watch. So, I assume that she was a little fussy when I took this picture.





多分、眠たかったんでしょうな。(笑)
Yeah, she must have been sleepy. Haha.




ちょうどこの時に店長さん（女性）が働いていらっしゃって、春日さん曰く、「若いのにしっかりしてて、やり手の店長さんよ。」で、今回初めてお会いしたんですが、見た感じは本当に若くて可愛らしい店長さんでした。
Kasuga-san told me, "Our current manager is still very young, but she's really hardworking and great." and luckily, I could meet the manager for the first time. She looked really young and cute.




Hit-chanも少しの間働いていたので分かるのですが、飲食店チェーンの店長さんと言えば体力的にも精神的にも本当に大変なお仕事なんですが、現在の春日さんのボスであるこのお若い店長さんは大変な素振りを全く見せる事なくいつも明るく元気に働いていらっしゃるそうです。（すごい！）
I used to work at the restaurant for a little bit and know that a restaurant manager in general is required a lot both in mental and physical ways. Thouh, Kasuga-san said that her boss always shared her happy energy and worked hard even without showing tough parts of her position. (That's really amazing!!)




春日さんがHit-chanの話をしていたらしく、店長さんからも「お話を伺ってます～。」と笑顔で声をかけていただきました。
Kasuga-san actually had talked about me to the wonderful manager, and she actually came to the table and greeted me, "Oh, I heard a lot about you!"





しかもしかも、店長さんのポケットマネーで食後のコーヒーまで頂いちゃいました。（感謝！）
And what a happy surprise!! She treated us to after-lunch coffee with her pocket money!! (Thanks!!)





美味しい食事の後、春日さんが「この前はこけた後であちこちが痛くて長居できなかったけど、今日は一緒にめいちゃんの服を買いに行こう。」と言ってくれ、一緒にモール内の子供服コーナーに行きました。
After the wonderful lunch, Kasuga-san said, "I couldn't hang out with you long becuase my legs hurt from the bike fall last time, but I'm doing much better. So, let's go to get some clothes for May-chan today!"




で、この時に可愛い服をいくつか買っていただいて、現在進行形でめいに着せております。
Kasuga-san generously bought May-chan some clothes at the time, and I put them on her very often now.





ちなみに春日さんに買っていただいた服の1つがこちらのデニムパンツ。結構厚い生地で可愛いのでお出かけの時によく着ています。
The pants are the one of the clothes from Kasuga-san. They're pretty thick and warm, so I usually put them on May-chan when we go out.




本当に春日さんとは数ヶ月しか一緒に働いていなかったんですが、こうして今でもご縁を持たせていただいて嬉しいです。
Kasuga-san and I worked together only for some months, but thankfully, our friendship lasts much longer than that.




一緒に働いていた頃から元気で明るく仕事をされていたんですが、今回久しぶりにお会いした時も自転車でのケガは心配しましたが、全く変わらず元気でポジティブな春日さんと楽しい時間を過ごさせてもらい、Hit-chan自身がたくさんの元気を頂きました。
Kasuga-san was always energetic and happy from when we used to work together, but she's just the same as before though I was really worried about the bike fall. Just by having a fun time with such a cheerful lady, I could receive a lot of happy energy from her.





最後に、仕事のできる可愛い店長さんに撮ってもらった春日さんとの3ショット。
At last, the wonderful manager kindly took a picture of us. Thank you!




春日さん曰く仕事の引退まであと2年らしいので、できれば春日さんが引退される前にもう1度日本に帰ってこのレストランで一緒にランチデートしたいなぁと思っています。
Kasuga-san was saying that it's only 2 years left to retire the job, so I do want to go back to Japan before she retires and have a fun lunch at the restaurant again.





という訳で、今日はこの辺で～！！！

めいちゃんの初日本 vol.19 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 19)

How's your day going today?




さて、今日は日本旅行記第18弾でございます。
Okay, this is vol.18 of the Japan trip diaries.




Hit-chanが日本に帰る度にやる事ってある程度決まっているんですが、その中の一つに日本の本を大量に買ってアメリカに送るという作業があります。
So, there are some things that I always want to do when I go back to Japan, and one of them is buying lots of Japanese books and shipping them to MN home.




不思議な事に、日本に住んでいた頃は全く本を読まない人間だったんですが、アメリカに引っ越して来てから日本語が恋しくなったのかほぼ毎日寝る前に本を読むようになりました。
This is kind of weird and interesting, but I didn't read books at all when I lived in Japan. Though, I started craving Japanese letters after I moved to the US, and now I read book in bed every single night.




なので、今回の帰国の間にもネットで自分の欲しい本とめいに読ませたい本を数冊ずつ頼んで段ボール箱に詰めていって、ミネソタに帰ってくる少し前に郵送手続きをしました。
So, I wanted to buy lots of books for my self and also for May-chan this time, so while I was in Japan, I constantly placed orders for a couple of books online at a time and packed them in a box. Then, I decided to ship them about a week beofre the last day in Japan.





青い空が気持ち良いこの日、2つの段ボールに詰めた本を発送しに行きました。
On the beautiful day, I went to ship 2 heavy boxes full of books.




日本からアメリカに大量の書籍を送る場合、特別郵袋印刷物というサービスを使うのが一番安いのですが、このサービスを利用できる郵便局は限られており、Hit-chanの地元京都では3つしかありません。
When you want to ship a lot of books from Japan to the US, there's a paticular service called "Special Mailbags for Printed Matter" and I think it's the ceapest option as far as I know. Tough, the service is available only at certain locations, and there are only 3 post offices available for the service in Kyoto.




幸い、京都駅前の京都中央郵便局でこのサービスを扱っているので、毎回この郵便局から送っています。
Luckily, the post office in front of Kyoto station does the service, and I always ship my books from the post office.




でね、さすがに重たい段ボールを2つ実家から京都駅まで運ぶのにめいを連れての電車移動は無理だと思ったので、とりあえず家族に一緒に来てもらうように頼んで、実家から郵便局までタクシーを使って移動しようと思ってたんです。
So, whatt's the biggest challenge for me to ship those 2 heavy boxes was that how I carry them from my parents house to the post office by Kyoto station. First off, I thought that it'd be impossible to move by train with those 2 heavy boxes and May-chan all by myself. So, I was going to ask my family to come along with us and call a taxi.




が、またまた優しいスカッチとスカッチの彼氏さんNさんがお手伝いしてくれるとの事で、前日にHit-chanの実家からバス一本で京都駅に行けるNさんの家に運び、当日は2人でNさんの家から京都駅までバスで運んでくれました。（いやぁ、ほんまに有難かった～！）
Though, I'm blessed again. My sister, Skatch and her boy friend, N-san offered to carry the 2 boxes to the post office for me. They moved the boxed from my parents house to N-san's house by car on the day before and then on the next day, carried them from his house to the post office by bus which directly ran to Kyoto station from near his house. Yeah, it's a lot of work even for them, and I really appreciate the big help.




ちなみにHit-chanとめい、もう一人の妹スイッチはいつも通り電車で京都駅まで行きました。
So, May-chan, me and my other sister, Switch went to Kyoto station by train as usual on the day.




Hit-chanが郵便局で発送の手続きをしている間も、スイッチ、スカッチ、Nさんは待っていてくれたんですが、ベビーカーに乗せためいを外に連れ出してくれていたので、それも助かりました。
While I was taking care of the shipping stuff at the post offce counter, Switch, Skatch and N-san actually watched May-chan outside, which was very helpful for me too.




無事、発送手続きが終わった後。。。
After I could get everything done well at the post office...,





今度は京都駅近くのイオンモールに行きました。この写真で分かるように、Nさんがベビーカーを押してくれ、その横をスカッチが歩いているので、本当、めいは2人の子供みたいでした。(笑)
we headed to AEON mall near Kyoto station. Just as you can see it in the picture above, N-san was pushing May-chan's stroller and Skatch was walking by him, so they looked like May-chan's dad&mom. LOL




この日、京都駅のイオンモールに行けるという事で、前から行ってみたいなぁと思っていたお店でランチをするのに皆に付き合ってもらいました。
So, we had planned to go to the mall on the day beforehand, so I asked them to have lunch together at the restaurant that I had been interested in.

ミネソタでの生活ではよくYouTube観ているんですが、その中でコメダ珈琲が出てきて「美味しそうだなぁ。」と見ていたんですねぇ。(笑)
I got to know about the cafe restaurant through a YouTube video and thought, "Oh, it looks so delicious!!" Haha











たくさんの種類のサンドイッチがありました。
They had many kinds of sandwiches.




取り合えず、色々頼んで皆で分ける事にしました。
We decided to share some things together.





Hit-chanが食べたかった玉子サンド
This is what I wanted to try.




名物？の味噌カツサンド
One of their featured menu, pork cutlet with Miso sauce.




美味しいと評判の海老カツサンド
Shrimp cutlet sandwich.




スイッチが食べたかったのかな、グラタンも。
I think this is what Swich wanted to try. Gratin.





Hit-chanはもちろんコーヒーも注文しました。
Of course, I ordered their coffee too.




サンドイッチはどれも大きくて、皆で分けても結構量が多かったです。
It might be hard to tell from the pictures, but their sandwiches were pretty big and enough for 4 adults.




こうやって皆も一緒に来てくれると色んな味が楽しめるので有難いです。
It's really nice to eat and share with them since I can try more different kinds at once.





重たい本を運んでくれたり、ランチにも付き合ってくれてありがと～。
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for carrying the heavy boxes and hanging out with us again!!



めいには持って行ったスナックとお店で買った持ち帰り用の食パンをあげました。
I brought some snacks and bought bread for May-chan at the restaurant, so she enjoyed eating them.





しばらくはこうやってベビーカーに座っていられたんですが。。。
May-chan was fine with sitting in the stroller for a while, but...





その後はやっぱり降りたがったので、こんな風に遊ばせました。
she wanted to get out after, so I let her play on the floor like this.





スイッチとスカッチはデザートドリンクも頼んでました。
Switch&Skatch ordered this sweet drink as dessert too.




美味しい食事の後は、皆でイオンモールの中を歩いて回りました。
After we had the delicious lunch, we just walked and browsed in the mall.





途中、こんなライトの付いた鏡を発見。（化粧をほとんどしないHit-chanには全く必要の無い物ですが、妹ツインズは興味津々で見てました。）
At this shop, we found this fancy make-up mirror with LED lights. (I don't do make up and need such a fancy mirror, but my twins were very interested in it.)




この後、スイッチとHit-chan＆めいは実家に帰り、スカッチとNさんはそのまま京都で遊ぶという事だったので、イオンモールでお別れしました。
After we did some window-shopping, May-chan&I and Skatch decided to go home, and Skatch and N-san wanted to keep haning out in downtown Kyoto, so we said good-bye at the mall.




でね、Hit-chan、実家に戻ってからめちゃくちゃ大切な事を忘れた事に気づいたんです。
Okay then, I actually realized that I made a huge mistake after I got back home.




というのも、この日の数日前、ママのクリスマスプレゼントにとユニクロの服をネットで注文したんです。
A couple of days before the day, I ordered a T-shirt for mom (Andy's mom) as a Christmas gift online.




自宅配送も選ぶ事ができたんですが、「数日後にイオンモールに行くからそこの店舗受取にすれば良いか～。」と思って、京都駅のイオンモールに入っているユニクロでの店舗受取にしておいたんです。
I could have chosen an option to ship it home, but I thought, "Oh, I'm gonna go to the mall in a couple of days, so why don't I pick it up at the store in the mall?" and chose to pick up my order at the mall.




で、皆さんもお気づきの通り、すっかりその事を忘れてしまい、ユニクロのユの字も思い出さずに実家に帰ってきてしまったんですよ。（汗）
And then..., as you'd probably know it already, I completely forgot about the order and went back home without anything in my hands.





めいを連れては京都駅まで出るのはなかなか大変なのに、オーマイガー！って感じで、「どうしようどうしよう！」とプチパニック。
It's really a lot of work to go out to Kyoto station with May-chan, so when I remembered about the order at home, I was kind of in a panic like "OMG! What should I do now??"




その事を一緒に帰っていたスイッチに相談したら、すぐにスカッチに電話をかけてくれ、
I talked to Swich about it, and then she called Skatch right away and said,




「なぁなぁ、めっちゃお願いがある。お姉ちゃんがユニクロで服を受け取るの忘れたらしい。取りに行ってくれへん？お礼に何でも奢るし！」
"Hey, I have a huge favor for you. Hit-chan forgot to pick up her order at the store in the mall today. Can you go back there and get it for her?? I'll treat you anything you want!!"




って、まるで自分の失態のヘルプをお願いするかの如く、Hit-chanの大チョンボの尻拭いの手配をしてくれました。
Yup, Switch talked as if it was her own favor and took care of it for me.





その後、京都市内でデートを楽しんでいたスカッチとNさん、わざわざ京都駅のイオンモールまで戻ってくれて、無事Hit-chanのオーダーした品をユニクロで受け取ってくれました。
Even though Skatch and N-san was having a fun date in down town Kyoto, but they generously went back to the mall just for me and picked up my order there.





そんな訳で、この日のデートは最初から最後までスイッチ、スカッチ、Nさんにめちゃくちゃお世話になってしまい、申し訳ないやら有難いやらで気持ちが一杯になりました。
Anyways, I ended up making my sisters and N-san work so much for me on the day. Of course, I really appreciated them but at the same time, felt so bad too.




でもでも、皆にお世話になりつつも楽しい1日を過ごす事ができ、やりたかった用事も片付ける事ができたので良かったです。
Still, I had a great time with my loved ones and could finish a couple of the chores on the day thanks to everyone's big help. So, overall, it was a very fun day for me.






そうそう、この日に送った大量の本ですが、ちょうどクリスマスの日に届いて、まるでクリスマスプレゼントみたいでした。
Oh yeah, the 2 boxes that I shipped on the day were delivered here on Christmas! So, they're like my Christmas gift.




という事で、今日はこの辺で～！！！

お気に入りのサンドイッチ屋さん (Ham's Sandwich Shop)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your life treating you?




さて、皆さんは道を歩いていていつも見かけて気になるけど、実際には入った事のないお店って結構ありませんか？
Well, I assume that you've probably had this experience. You pass by a same store so many times on your commute or something and always think it's interesting but never really steppedn in.




実はAndyっちとHit-chanも、よく走る高速から見えるお店で、「あのお店、美味しいのかな？気になるね。今度行ってみようか？」と話していたお店があり、お店の存在自体は10年くらい知っていたものの、一度もお店の中に足を踏み入れた事はありませんでした。
Andy and I actually had one shop like that. Every time we drive on this highway and see this shop, we were saying, "The shop is interesting. Do you think it's good? We should try them sometime soon!" We actually had known the shop about 10 years or so, but never stepped in until now.

このお店に行ったことのある友人のトムにAndyっちが聞いてみると、「うん、あそこのサンドイッチは美味しいよ～。」という答えが返ってきたので、ある日の週末、機会があったので行ってみる事にしました。
Our friend, Tom, said "They're pretty good!" and the good comment from Tom pushed our backs to finally step in the shop on the weekend.




その時はテイクアウトをして帰って食べたんですが。。。
We took out a couple of sandwiches at the time and thought...




「うん、うまい！」
"Yup, it's really good!"




とAndyっちもHit-chanもお気に入りに。
Both of us really liked their sandwiches.




なので、その後数週間も経たない内にまた週末ランチに寄ってみました。（笑）
So, within a couple weeks after we tried their sandwiches for the first time, we grabbed their sandwiches for a weekend lunch again. Haha.





お店はこんな感じで小さいんですが、テイクアウトの人も多く、たくさんの人が出入りして人気です。
The shop is pretty small, but so many people come and go for a take-out order and make the shop very busy.











こちらはAndyっちのミートボールサンドイッチ。
This is Andy's meatball sandwich.











こちらはHit-chanのカスタマイズラップ。（お気に入りのベーグルサンドのラップ版で、トルティーヤにハム、レタス、トマト、オニオン、アボカド、マヨ、ハニーマスタードが入ってます。）
This is my customized wrap. (It's pretty much same as my favorite bagel sandwich, and I put ham, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, mayo and honey mustard on a tortila.





ちなみにめいはこの時お昼寝しておりました。
May-chan was actually taking a nap at the time.




Hit-chanは最初に食べたのとは違う上の写真の自分好みのラップを今回注文した訳ですが、「うまぁぁぁぁぁい！」と大満足！
My sandwich at this time was different from one that I got for the first time, but the perfectly customized wrap for me was just "Yummy!!!!!"




Andyっちは最初に食べたミートボールサンドイッチを再び注文。2回同じものを注文するくらいなので、もちろん「美味しい！」と大満足。
I think that Andy ordered the same sandwich as his first time, and without a doubt, he really liked it since he had the same kind twice in a row.




前回初めてお店に来た時に、Andyっちがオーナーの方と思われる男性と話をしたんですが、彼曰く、もう何年も前に最初はハムを売る商売を始めて、そのハムがとても人気になったそうです。
When we first visited the shop, Andy had some time to talk to the owner man, and he said that they started the business from selling the ham. Then, a lot of people loved their ham, so they thought,




なので、「このハムを使ってサンドイッチ屋でもやろう。」とこのお店を始められて、今では人気のサンドイッチ屋でございます。
"Why don't we start a sandwich shop with this popular ham?" and opened the sandwich shop.





Hit-chan、家でもお気に入りのベーグルサンドを手作りするんですが、好みの味に仕上げるに、どのハニーマスタードを使うか、どのハムを使うかが重要なのです。
I mentioned that I customized my sandwich order as my favorite bagel sandwich above. I actually sometimes homemade the bagel sandwich, and the key ingredients to make the sandwich just as I like are the honey mustard and the ham. (I do like useing Inglehoffer barnd honey mustard and a sweet honey ham.)

でね、このサンドイッチ屋さんの甘めのハムがHit-chanの好きなベーグルサンドにピッタリのお味なんです。
Anyways, their honey ham is just perfect for my favorite sandwich.




で、聞いてみると、ハム単品でも購入できるそうなんです。
Luckily, you can buy just their ham individually too.




じゃじゃーん！
So, why not?




美味しそう～！って美味しいんです。
They look so delicious, don't they? Yeah they are delicious!



これを書いている時点では、まだこの美味しいハムを使ってベーグルサンドは作っていないんですが、ちゃんと冷凍保存してあるので、この先いつでも好きな時に作れるので楽しみです！
At this point when I'm writing this article, I haven't made my favorite bagel sandwich with their ham yet, but I froze them so that I can make my sandwich anytime I want!



ちなみに、お店の存在を10年くらい知りつつも一度も行った事が無かったのに、この2ヶ月くらいで既に3回くらい行っております。（笑）
BTW, we actually went to enjoy their sandwiches 3 times in the last couple of months already though we hadn't stepped in the shop for about a decade. Haha.





という訳で、今日はAndyっちとHit-chanのお気に入りのサンドイッチ屋さんの紹介でございました！

めいちゃんの初日本 vol.18 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 18)

どもども。

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going today?




さて、今日は日本旅行記第18弾でございます。
So, this is vol.18 of the Japan trip diaries.




日本滞在日数もあと1週間ほどになった10月中旬のこの日、親友あきさんのお家にまた遊びに行かせてもらいました。
In the middle of October when it's about a week before May-chan and I were going to leave Japan, May-chan and I visited my best friend, Aki, again.




本当はこの1週間くらい前に予定していたんですが、あきさんの長女さっちゃんが風邪気味だったので延期する事になったんです。
Aki and I were actually planning to meet up about a week before originally, but we decided to postpone it since her oldest daughter, Sat-chan, was sick a little bit.




この日は平日だったんですが、あきさんの長女、さっちゃんは運動会後の振替休日との事で、ゆっくり家で一緒に遊ぶ事ができました。
It was on a week day, but Sat-chan didn't have kinder since they had a sports festival on the weekend before, which gave us plenty of time to play togehter.





この日はいっぱい一緒に遊べるという事で、さっちゃん楽しみにしていてくれたそうです。
Aki said that Sat-chan was so excited to have the play date.




さっちゃん、めいと遊ぶのをすごく楽しみにしていてくれただけあって、本当に優しいお姉ちゃんでめいの面倒をいっぱいみてくれました。
Aki's right. Sat-chan was such a sweet and kind big sister for May-chan.





めいに色んなオモチャを見せて遊び方を教えてくれたり。。。
She showed bunch of different fun toys to May-chan...,





めいにいっぱい話しかけてくれたり。。。
she talked to May-chan a lot and tried to understand what May-chan was thinking too.





この時少し歩きかけていためいは、この歩行器に入れてもらって嬉しそう。
May-chan at the time was almost starting to walk, so this walker made her so happy.






さっちゃん、運動会で発表した「パプリカ」を歌って踊って見せてくれたんですが、とっても上手で可愛いかった！
Sat-chan entertained us by her cute dance which she performed at the sports festival too.






もちろん、あきさんの次女ななちゃんも一緒で、まだお姉ちゃんたちが遊ぶのを見てるだけですが嬉しそう。
Of course, Aki's 2nd daughter, Nana-chan, was with us and seemed to have much fun to watch the 2 big girls playing though she couldn't do much with them yet.




この日もあきさんがランチを用意してくれていて、近所のパン屋さんで買ってきてくれた美味しいパンを頂きました。
Aki's always great and kindly got us some delicious bread for our luch at a local bakery on the day too.



あきさんも大変なのに、「買い物に行くから、めいちゃんの為に要る物があったら一緒に買っておくよ～。」と言ってくれたので、お言葉に甘えてヨーグルトやパンを買ってもらいました。
（それなのに、めいはあんまり食べなかったのよねぇ。）
Without a doubt, I can tell that Aki's also a super busy mom too, but she generously told me, "I'm gonna go grocery shopping tomorrow, so tell me whatever you want me to get for May-chan or anything." So, I asked to get some yogurt and bread for May-chan too. (Though, May-chan didn't eat them much. Grrr!)





あきさん、ランチの後のおやつにこんな可愛いケーキまで買っておいてくれました。日本のケーキは見た目が可愛いだけじゃなくて、味も美味しかった！
Besides thet nice lunch, Aki also got some pretty cake for our snack time too! The lovely Japanese cake was not only cute but also yummy!





そしてこの日、あきさんが次女のななちゃんに初離乳食をあげてみるという事で。。。
On the day, Aki wanted to try to give Nana-chan her first baby food (rice porridge), so...





Hit-chan、この記念すべき瞬間を無事写真に収める事に成功！

この時も、お姉ちゃんのさっちゃんがななちゃんの口にスプーンを運んで食べさせてあげていました。（優しい～！）
Again, Sat-chan was a big helper and carrying the spoon to her littl sister's mouth very gently. (Aww!!)





初めての離乳食でしたが、ななちゃん、特に嫌がらずにお粥を上手に食べておりました。
It was the very first time for Nana-chan to try something other than mommy's milk, but she seemed to like it.





しばらくしたら、めい、人ん家のリビングの真ん中で爆睡。(笑) いっぱい遊んでもらって疲れたんでしょね。
After a while, May-chan fell asleep in the center of the living room like this. LOL





今がチャンスだという事で、さっちゃん、ななちゃん、めいで記念撮影。めいは寝てますが。(笑)
I thought that it was a perfect chance to take a picture of all the lovely girls together, so I got this. I know May-chan was sleeping though. Haha.




こんな感じで、この日は本当に満足いくまであきさんのお家で遊ばせてもらいました。
This is how May-chan and I had a great time at Aki's house.




正直言うと、滞在中にもっともっと頻繁に遊びに来たかったんですが、さっちゃんの体調やお天気の事もあって、結局今回の帰国では２回だけになっちゃいました。
To be hoenst with you, I wanted to visit them more frequently during the stay, but due to Sat-chan's condition or the weather situation, we ended up being able to have a play date only twice.




帰る度にいつも喜んで迎えてくれるあきさんには本当に感謝しており、遠くに住んでいるので中々お手伝いに行けなかったりするのが辛い所ですが、こうやって今回も皆元気に会う事ができて本当に良かったです。
Though, the 2 precious times with Aki and her lovely girls were enough to remind me that I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful friend in my life. She always welcomes me and loves to enjoy doing things with me whenever I come back to the home country. It's too bad that I can't easily come to help her when she needs a help, but it's still great that all of us were doing well and could have such fun play dates this time again.

めいちゃんの初日本 vol.17 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 17)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going today?




さて、今日は日本旅行記第17弾でございます。
Okay, here's vol.17 of the Japan trip diaries.




日本に帰る度に、いつもお世話になったり応援してもらっている友人たちに出来るだけ会おうと思っているんですが、その中にHit-hcanの母のママ友3人がいます。
So, I have some friends who I want to see whenever I have a chance to go back to Japan, and 3 friends of my mother's are ones of those.




Hit-chanや兄弟がまだ保育園に通っている頃に、同じ保育園に子供を預けているママ達としてHit-chanの母と出会い、その友情が現在まで続いているんです。
Back then, when my siblings and I were going to kindergarten, my mom and the 3 ladies met as mom friends through the same kinder, and they still hang out sometimes now more than 3 decades after.




そして、その母のママ友3人はHit-chanが母のお腹の中にいた時からHit-chanの事を知っており、Hit-chanがどんな風に大きくなってきたかも見守ってきてくれたんですねぇ。
So, the 3 ladies literally have known how I grew up ever since I was in my mom's belly.




今回日本に滞在している時にも、ぜひ皆さんにもめいを紹介したいなぁと思いまして、全員一緒に集まるのは叶わなかったんですが、別々には会う事ができました。
I tried to set up a day to see them during the trip so that I could introduce May-chan to them. Unfortunately, I couldn't see them all together at once, but still could see them individually.




この日、母のママ友の一人、三科さんに会うのに伏見の辺りで待ち合わせする事にしました。
On this day, May-chan, my mom and I went out to Fushimi area to see one of the 3 ladies, Mishina-san.




実は、うちの母も体調が良かったり良くなかったりなんですが、三科さんの方も本調子ではないとの事で、「もしかすると会えないかもねぇ。」と心配していたんですが、何とかタイミングよく予定していた日に２人の体調が良くて会える事になりました。
I was actually worried if we would really make the date happen since my mom physically has had good and bad days due to her medical issues, and Mishina-san wasn't actually in the best condition either at the time. Thankfully, both Mishina-san and my mom were fine, and we could have the date as scheduled.

母も三科さんもあまり食欲が無かったのと、Hit-chanもめいがいるので、「どこか公園ででも座って話そうか？」という事になったのですが、ここら辺の地域に詳しい母が、「この近くの区の施設に休憩所があるから、そこはどう？」と提案してくれたので、そこへ行ってみる事にしました。
Nobody was hungry at the time, and it's more work to do to eat at a restaurant with May-chan, so I suggested, "Why don't we go to a park or somewhere and talk?" Then, my mom said, "There's a free public space in a city facility nearby." and guided us there.

上の写真のように、めいのハイハイやつかまり立ちできるスペースがある程度あったので、めいもいつもより動き回れて嬉しそうでした。
As you can see it in the picture above, there's desent room for May-chan to crawl and stand, which made her more active amd happy.

三科さんとは初めましてでしたが、めいは全然人見知りしてませんでした。
It was the first time meeting with Mishina-san, but May-chan didn't get shy with her at all.





ほら、こんな風に抱っこまでしてもらいました。
Yup, May-chan's comfortable to be held by Mishina-san like this too.




しばらくこの場所でお話して、母と三科さんの体調の事もあるのでこの日は早めにお開きにする事にしました。
We chatted for a while at the free space and then decided to head back home before Mishina-san and my mom got too tired.

帰りに駅前にあるおもちゃ屋さんでアンパンマンのオモチャを買っていただいたんですが、その後ミネソタに持って帰って来て、家族旅行に持って行ったらそこで失くしてしまいました。（汗）
On the way to see Mishina-san leave from the train station, we stopped by a toy store, and she bought a misic toy for May-chan. Of course, I brought the toy back to MN, May-chan loved to play with it for a while. Though, I lost it when we went up north for a family vacation.




もちろん、滞在先のホテルに問い合わせたんですが見つかりませんでした。（三科さん、ごめんなさい！）
Needless to say, we called the hotel that we stayed at the time and asked if they found the toy in the room, but they didn't find it. (Sorry, Mishina-san!)





とにかく、母や三科さんの体調が心配でしたが、何とかうまい具合に２人の体調が良い時に会って、めいを紹介する事ができたので良かったです。
Anyways, I'm so glad that both Mishina-san and my mom were doing fine and I could introduce May-chan to Mishina-san on the trip.
