さて、今日は、また何てことない私達の日曜日の記録です。
Today, I want to share one of our typical Sundays here again.



この週の日曜日、本当に久しぶりにアジアンスーパーのUnited Noodlesに行ってきました。
That Sunday, Andy and I went to shop at United Noodles which is the biggest Asian grocery store in MN.














夏らしい雲が広がっていました。

到着～。
We got here!



この日は朝10時くらいかなぁ、に着いたんですけど、かなり空いていました。
I think we got there around 10am and it was pretty quiet.




しばらくぶりに来たら、色々な物の配置が変わっておりました。
The layout of the store has been changed a lot since the last time we came here.







で、実は、Hit-chan、ミネソタに来てから数年は日本の食材は全てこのUnited Noodlesで手に入れていたんです。
We actually used to shop all the Japanese food products at United Noodles for some years since I first moved here.



が、数年前にこのオンラインショップを見つけてからは、United Noodlesでは主に冷蔵＆冷凍食品のみを買う事にしています。
Though, I found this online shop in CA a couple of years ago and since then, I've tried to shop only refrigerated and frozen products at United Noodles.



Tokyo Central
このお店では60ドル以上買えば送料が半額、120ドル以上買えば送料が無料になります。
At this online shop, you can get 50% off on the shipping fee when you purchase more than $60 and you can get free shipping when you buy more than $120.



この日、絶対買いたかったのが日本のマヨネーズ。
On that day, we wanted to buy Japanese mayo for sure.



Tokyo Centralで買えば3ドルちょっとで買えるんですが、ストックが完全に無いのと、Tokyo Centralでの買い物は、出産がもう少し近づいてからと考えているので、この日United Noodlesで買う事に。
Tokyo Central sells the same brand for $3 something, but we're completely out of it and I'm planning to make a big order on Tokyo Central when my due date gets closer, so we wanted to buy a couple at United Noodles anyways.

キューピーのマヨネーズ、Tokyo Centralではセールで3ドルちょっとだったんですが、United Noodlesでは6ドル59セント。た、高い。。。
This brand's mayo, it's about $3 at Tokyo Central, but it was $6.59 at United Noodles which was super expensive...



日本のマヨネーズはAndyっちも好きで、高かったんですが2本買いました。
Though, Andy loves this mayo and we got 2 anyways.



この他にも、結構近日中に必要になりそうな、お米とか醤油とか（どちらもTokyo Centralの方が安いけど。）や、豆腐や納豆を買いました。
Besides the mayo, we also bought rice, soy sauce (They're more expensive than Tokyo Central as well.) and some Tofu and Natto too.



抑えめにしようと思ってたんですが、簡単に100ドルを超えてしまったよ。（汗）
I tried not to spend too much here, but the total of the shopping easily got over $100. Oops!



Tokyo Centralの方がやっぱり全体的に安いですね。
Yeah, I should shop as much as possible at Tokyo Central.



この前のクリスマスに、パパママからTokyo Centralのギフトカードをたくさんもらったので、9月くらいになったら、出産に向けていっぱい贅沢注文したいと思ってます！
Last Christmas, Dad&Mom gave me a gift card of Tokyo Central, so I want to make a huge order at Tokyo Central in September so that I can be prepared for my post-delivery life.



で、無事United Noodlesで買い物をした後は、一度家に帰って冷蔵庫や冷凍庫に入れるものは入れてしまいまして、今度は近場にお出かけ。
After we got back home from United Noodles, I put things into the fridge and freezer and then we went out for a small chore again.




近所のホームセンター
True Value



このホームセンターは他のホームセンターに比べるとかなり小さくて、地元密着型なんですが、スタッフの皆さんがめちゃくちゃ親切なので、Andyっちもお気に入りのお店です。
We love this True Value a lot because the staff are always nice and kind and know much about their store and products. It's small and local, so the prices are not the best deal though.




カメラを向けるとピースをしてくれるのが定番になってきたね。(笑)
He makes a peace sign which is a Japanese style for photo shooting.


この日も親切な店員さんのお陰で、必要なものをストレスフリーで買えました。
We got a great service that day as always and could get our stress-free shopping.



で、この日のお使い終了～。
Okay, now we're done with all the shoppings of the day!



ま、こんな感じで、我が家の日曜日は過ぎて行きました。
This is how our usual Sunday went.



考えてみると、赤ちゃんが生まれたら、こういう1日もガラッと変わってしまうんでしょうねぇ。
I think once our baby is born, these ordinary days would change a lot.



あと、5か月弱、夫婦2人だけの生活を楽しんでおきたいと思います。
So, I want to enjoy the life with 2 of us just for 5 months more.

妊娠中の人工甘味料摂取 (Artificial sweetners)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?




さて、こちらのクリニックでの最初の検診の時に、妊娠に関する情報が書かれた本をもらいました。
On my first appointment with the clinic here, they gave me this book.








この本の中には、お腹の中で赤ちゃんがどのように成長していくのか、それに伴ってどのような症状が母体に現れるのか、妊娠中の食生活、運動方法方法などについてのアドバイスも書かれていました。
This book has a lot of information about how a baby grows in your belly, how a mother's body reacts, how you care about your diet, how you want to do exercise and other things helps your pregnant life more comfortable.



その中で、Hit-chanが気に留めたのが、妊娠中に摂取しても良い、しない方が良い、人工甘味料についての情報でした。

One of the information that I really liked was about artificial sweetners that you can take or you shouldn't take during pregnancy.



ここアメリカでは本当に色んな人工甘味料を目にします。
Here in the US, we run into tons of products including artificial sweetners.



Hit-chanが働いているカリブーでも、常時グラニュー糖、粗糖の他に、3種類の人工甘味料を置いています。
At Caribou coffee, we always have 3 kinds of artificial sweetners besides white sugar and raw sugar.



コーヒーや紅茶に入れる甘味料だけでなく、アメリカでは炭酸飲料のダイエットバージョンの種類が、日本と比べ物にならないくらい多く、それにも人工甘味料が使われています。
Here in the US, they use those sweetners not only for coffee or tea but also for a lot of diet soda drinks whcih is way more than in Japan.



Hit-chan、基本的にコーヒーはブラックで飲む事が多いのですが、たまに人工甘味料とクリームを入れて飲む事があったり、ダイエット炭酸飲料も結構飲んでいました。
I personally drink coffee as black most of the time, but I sometimes use a sweetner and cream. Also, I often drank a lot of diet pop before I got pregnant.



なので、この人工甘味料に関しての情報は本当にありがたかったです。
So, this practical information was very helpful to me.



で、Hit-chanがもらった本によりますと。。。

妊娠中でも摂取しても大丈夫と認定されているのが、

スプレンダという商品名で売られている、スクラロースという甘味料。

Splenda (Sucralose)



Hit-chan、実はこの甘味料が一番好きで、コーヒーに入れる時はいつもこれだったので、妊娠中も摂取できると聞いてひと安心。
Splenda is actually my favorite sweetner and I always use this for my coffee, so I was very happy to know that this one was safe also for pregnant women.



次に、摂取しても大丈夫だけれど、取り過ぎない方が良いよと言われているのが、
Then, this one is also approved by the FDA(Food and Drug Administration), but they do recommend you limit your consumption.




イコールという商品名や、

Equal(Aspartame)



ヌトラスイートという商品名で売られている、アスパルティムという甘味料。

こちらの甘味料は、Hit-chanがよく飲んでいる、

ダイエットマウンテンデューには、このアスパルティムという甘味料が使われています。

多分、他のダイエット炭酸飲料にも、このアスパルティムが結構使われているのではないでしょうか。
So, I assume many other diet soda drinks also would contain Aspartame too.




次に、一応安全だとは言われているが、それ以外にもいくつか危険性が認められる研究も上がっているので、できれば避けた方が良いのが、
The next one is deemed safe by the FDA as well, but there are also some questionable studies. So, you might want to stay away from this.




スイート＆ロウという商品名で売られている、サッカリンという甘味料。

Sweet&Low(Saccharin)




で、最後に、まだ研究が十分されていないので、何とも言えないので避けた方が良いというのが、
And the last one is made from a plant leaves in South Amrerica, but there hasn't been enough clear research proves to conclude that it's safe yet. So, you might as well to avoid this too.




トゥルービアという商品名で売られている、ステビアと呼ばれる植物から作られているもの。
Truvia(Stevia)



以上、日本にいるとアメリカほど人工甘味料に出くわす確率は少ないかもしれませんが、Hit-chan、個人的にはこちらの情報はすごく役に立ったので、こちらでシェアさせてもらいました。
This is all the sweetner information that I learned from the book. I guess that in Japan, you might not run into as many artificial sweetners as you do in the US, but I personally liked to get the information a lot and that's why I shared it here with you guys too.

新米ミネソタンさんとデート (Date with my Japanese friend)

Hello!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?



Hit-chanは元気でございます。
I'm doing great.



さて、先日、ミネソタでの数少ない日本人のお友達、新米ミネソタンさん（全然新米じゃないけどね。笑）とお茶をしてきました。
So the other day, I had a date with one of a few Japaense friends of mine here in MN.



新米ミネソタンさんとは、Hit-chanがミネソタに引っ越してすぐくらいに、このブログを通して知り合ったので、もうかれこれ7年のお付き合いです。
I met her through my blog right after I moved to MN from Japan, so we've been friends for 7 years.



最近はしばらく会えてなかったんですが、ちょうどお互いのスケジュールが合ったので、久しぶりにデートしてきたのです。
We hadn't hanged out for a while, but finally we could find time to catch up.



行ったのは、Hit-chanの前のカリブーがある街にあるフレンチレストラン兼ベーカリー。
We went to this new French restaurant and bakery in Wayzata.

実はこのお店の前は、シーフードレストランだったんですが、Hit-chanがカリブーでの初給料で家族の皆とディナーした思い出の場所でもあります。
This building was a seafood restaurant before and it's actually the place where I treated my family a dinner with my very first pay from Caribou.



その時の様子。ようやくご報告♪
I wrote about the memorable dinner here too.








この日、朝の9時半に待ち合わせしたんですが、店内は人で満杯。超人気店みたいです。
I met up with my friend at 9:30am that day, but the shop was already full. They must be so popular.




Hit-chan、お店を異動してから、あまりこの街に遊びにこないので、色々と変わっていてビックリしました。
I don't visit the town after I transferred to the different Caribou store, so I was kind of surprised that a lot of things had been changed in the town.




Hit-chanはデカフのコーヒーと、こちらのレーズンデニッシュ。
I got a cup of decaf coffee and this rasin danish with cheese cream.




新米ミネソタンさんは、ブリオッシュの中にカスタードが入っているパン。
My friend got this Brioche with custard filling inside.



いやぁ、こちらのパンはフランス系という事もあり、甘さもしつこくなく日本人の舌にも合って、かなり美味しいです。

This bakery is French and I think that their breads and pastry are not too sweet and Japanese people would love them.



新米ミネソタンさんには5歳になる息子さんがいるのですが、Hit-chanが出産する予定の病院で出産されたこともあり、色々と為になるお話を聞かせてもらいました。
My friend has a 5 year old son and she actually had the labor at the hospital which I'm going to deliver my baby at too. So, I got a lot of usuful advice from her.



あと、Hit-chan、新米ミネソタンさんからいつも物をいただいてばかりで、普段着ている服も結構新米ミネソタンさんからのお下がりだったりします。(笑)
Also, she always gives me nice things and I wear a lot of clothes which I took over from her.



で、この日も、妊婦用のパンツを2本、一時帰国のお土産のお菓子をいただきました。ありがとー。
On that day, she gave me 2 pairs of maternity pants and also coocikes from Japan. Thank you!!!



実は、妊娠が分かった時も。。。
When I announced my pregnancy here,




こんな本を送っていただいたりもしてました。
she also shipped this book to me!



いやぁ、こうやって改めて書くと、新米ミネソタンさんにお世話になりっぱなしですな。
Oh well, now I'm writing this, I realize how many things she has given to me.



やっぱり、アメリカの友達とは違う感覚、視点からのお話ができて、その上新米ミネソタンさんはしっかりされているので、いつも色々教えていただいて本当に心強いです。
When I talk to her, she always gives me a different perspective from ones that I get from my American friends and I can learn a lot of things from her.



この先、ミネソタでの日本語教育とか、日本人コミュニティとか、子育てに関する事も色々アドバイスをもらえたらなぁと思ってます。
In the future, I think she's going to be a great mentor for me to learn how to educate my baby about my home county and culture here in MN.



この日は、息子さんのサマースクールが11時半までだったので、あまり長い時間話せなかったんですが、それでも久しぶりに楽しいお話がいっぱいできて良かったです！
Unfortunately, we didn't have much time in that morning since she had to pick her son up from a summer school class at 11:30am. Though, we still had a great time again!

ブラッド君の誕生日会 (Brad's BD party)

どもども。
Hi there!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your life going?



Hit-chanはご機嫌で過ごしています。
Mine is full of happiness.



さて、7月22日は我が愛する義弟、ブラッド君のお誕生日でした。
So, July 22nd was my loving brother, Brad's birthday.



まぁ、Andyっち同様、ブラッド君も自分の誕生日に思い入れがなく、特にやりたい事もなかったので、パパママや私達が勝手にお祝いする事にしました。
Well, the BD boy himself is not into his own birthday so much as Andy and he didn't want to do any specific thing for his BD, so we just planned something small anyways.



誕生日前日の金曜日に我が家に家族が集まりまして、まぁ、気楽にBBQでお祝いしました。
The day before his birthday, we invited our family to our house and did BBQ together.









今が旬のコーン。安くて甘くて美味しい！！！
It's the season of corn. They're so cheap and sweet now!




ズッキーニも。
We grilled zucchini too.




もちろんハンバーガーも。普通のバンズと。。。
Of course, burgers are a must. I got some plain buns and...




バースデーボーイが好きなオニオンバンズも
BD boy's favorite, onion buns.




バースデーボーイはベジタリアンなので、ベジタリアンパティを別に用意。
BD boy is a vegetarian, so we got a few vegetarian patty for him on the side.




ケーキは近くのスーパーで買った、チョコケーキとショートケーキ。ここのケーキは美味しいのよ。
I got these cakes at Lunds&Byerly's. Triple chocolate tiger cake and strawberry short cake. I like their cakes.




で、食事の後は、皆リビングに集まってプレゼントタイム。
After the nice dinner, we gathered in the living room for the present time.









ブラッド君の前に、かなり遅れた父の日のプレゼントをパパに。(笑)
Before we handed presents to Brad, we gave Dad a super belated father's day present.




鉄板のゴルフボール。
Yup. You'll never get enough golf balls. LOL




で、バースデーボーイにはパパママ、私達からそれぞれカードと。。。
For the BD boy, both we and Dad&Mom gave him cards and...





AndyっちとHit-chanからは、ユニコーンのおもちゃ。（ブラッド君、ユニコーンが好きなの。）
a couple of small unicorn toys from us. (Brad loves unicorn.)



それと、いつも行っているゴルフ場のギフトカード。
And a gift card of the golf course we usually play at.




パパとママからは新しいゴルフバッグ
From Dad&Mom, a brand new golf bag.





ただ、ブラッド君の表情から見ても分かるように、機能的にあんまり希望の物じゃなかったらしい。
Well, probably as you see it from his face in the pic, he didn't like it in a functional way.
(I personally liked it though.)



まぁ、こういう場合、アメリカではレシートも一緒に渡すので、お店に行って返金してもらい、自分の気に入るゴルフバッグに交換するのです。だから、無問題！
In that case, it's super easy here in the US. You usually get a receipt with the gift so that you can return the item to the store and get a refund or exchange it with one you really like. So, no problem!!



で、パパママが帰った後は。。。
After Dad&Mom left our house...,




この人達は、Hit-chanの妹、スイッチからもらった日本酒を堪能しておりました。
These 2 boys enjoyed the sake which Andy got from one of my sisters, Switch. Thanks, Switch!



この後、Andyっちとブラッド君はしばらく飲み明かしたようですが、Hit-chanは疲れたので一足先にベッドに行きました。
I think the boys were having a fun time with a lot of beer that night, but I was tired and went to bed first.



という訳で、家族だけのこじんまりしたパーティーでしたが、楽しい時間が過ごせました！！！
Okay, this is all about Brad's BD this year. I'm glad we had a great time again!!!

赤ちゃんの性別 (Gender of the baby)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?



さて、前回の記事の続き、19週目での検診とエコー検査の様子です。
Okay, I want to write about the rest of the 19th week check-up and ultrasound.



1か月ぶりに見る我がベイビーちゃん。すっかり大きくなってビックリしました。
It'd been about one month since the last time Andy and I saw our baby and we're so surprised that our baby had grown up so much.




Andyっち、気が早くも、「おでこがHit-chanに似ている。」って言ってました。(笑)
Andy already said, "The forehead looks like yours." haha.



しかも、Hit-chanは分からなかったんですが、エコー検査士のお姉さんが、「赤ちゃん、しゃっくりしてるね。」と教えてくれて、それも何だか嬉しかったです。
I wasn't feeling anything special, but the ultrasound engineer lady said, "Oh, the baby is hiccuping." which made me happy too.



で、エコー検査士のお姉さんに、重要な臓器などをじっくり見てもらって、最後の最後、いよいよ赤ちゃんの性別が分かる時が。。。。
After she looked through some important organs of our baby, the time came, when we found out the gender of our baby.




このエコー検査を始める時、最初の最初にお姉さんが「性別は知りたい？」と聞いてくれました。
In the very beginning of the ultrasound, the engineer lady asked us if we wanted to know the gender.




AndyっちとHit-chan、この件については妊娠してすぐくらいから話しており、結果、産まれる前に性別を教えてもらおうという事になりました。
Andy and I actually have talked about it since the time we first found out that I was pregnant. Then, we reached the conclusion to know the gender before the baby is born.



Andyっちは最初から事前に性別を知りたがっていたんですが、Hit-chanは、別に性別を知るのはいつでも良いかなぁとあまり深く考えていませんでした。
Andy wanted to know the gender beforehand from the beginning of the pregnancy, but I didn't think about it too much.



ですが、赤ちゃんの部屋を準備したり、ベビーシャワーのリストに載せる物を考えていると、やっぱり事前に性別が分かっていた方が色々と楽だなぁという思いに至りました。
Though, as I was getting the baby's room ready and picking up things for the baby shower registry, I came to prefer knowing the gender beforehand.




で、検査士のお姉さんが赤ちゃんのお股を見せてくれて。。。
So, the engineer lady tried to see between the legs of our baby and showed it to us.





分かりますか？

女の子です！！！
It's a baby girl!!!




正直、Hit-chan、女の子が欲しかったので、めちゃくちゃ嬉しいです。
To be honest with you, this news made me super, super happy since I wanted to have a girl!!!




もちろん、男の子でも嬉しいんですが、Hit-chanが女の子が欲しかったのは、単純にアメリカの家族が完全に男家系なんです。
Without a doubt, I would have been so happy even if it was a boy, but the reason why I wanted a girl was quite simple. It's because my family in the US already has so many boys.




Andyっちも3人兄弟の真ん中だし、上のお兄ちゃん所の子供達（AndyっちとHit-chanにとって甥っ子ちゃん達）も3人とも男の子だったんです。
Andy's the middle of 3 boys and Andy's big brother's kids 3 of them are all boys too.




まぁ、ベイビーちゃんが女の子だとしても、どんな性格になるのか分からないので関係ないし、健康で生まれてきてくれれば言う事なしなのですが、そうは言いつつも、少し雰囲気の違った風が我が家に舞い込むかなぁとワクワクしております。

Of course, even if our baby is a girl, the gender doesn't matter since we don't know what our girl is going to be like yet and we just want her to be healthy and happy. Still, I can't help being excited to see how she'll inspire our family.



、
性別が分かったところで、この日のエコー検査は終了し、そのまま担当看護師さんとの19週目の検診に行きました。
After we're donw with all the ultrasound precedure, we headed to see our nurse for a check-up at 19th week.




その場で、さっきやったエコー検査の結果を一緒に確認して、特に大きな問題はない事が分かりました。
We checked all the results of the ultrasound which I just finished together with our nurse and found out that there was no big problem about our baby.




実はHit-chan、19週目の子の時点でもあまり胎動を感じる事が無かったんですが、担当看護師さん曰く、胎盤がお腹側についているので、それがクッションになって赤ちゃんの動きを感じにくいらしいです。
I hear a lot of wemen start feeling the babys' kick around the 16th to 20th week, but I hadn't felt anything specific yet. Our nurse said that my placenta was located on the front side (Belly side) and that absorbs the motion of baby's kick. That's why it's harder for me to feel the baby's kick.




でも、あと1、2週間もすれば、赤ちゃんが大きくなって胎動も感じるようになるとの事でした。
Though, our nurse said that I'm going to start feeling the kick in a couple of weeks for sure when our baby got bigger.




あと、気になっていた予定日ですが、エコー検査で測った赤ちゃんの色々な部位から計算して、12月6日辺りだろうとの事でした。
As for the big question about the due date, from all the calculations of our baby's body parts' sizes, the computer said it's going to be aroud Dec.6th.




それに、赤ちゃんの頭と胴体の比率が、平均よりちょっとだけ小さい事が分かったのですが、これは母親のHit-chanが小さいので、あまり心配する事はなく、このまま成長を見守りましょうとの事でした。
From the ration of our baby's head and body, our baby is a little smaller than the average. Though, our nurse said that the mother (I) am small too, so we'll just see how the baby will grow more.




と、こんな感じで、19週目でのエコー検査、検診、そして赤ちゃんの性別判明の様子でございました！！！
So, this is all about our 19th week check-up and ultrasound. Plus, the gender of our baby. Thanks for reading again!!
