How's everything going today?
Hit-chanもうちのグリルマン、Andyっちも元気ですが、最近愛用しているお気に入りのBBQ用炭が手に入らなくなってきていると言い、先日、近くのホームセンターと交渉して大量に取り寄せてもらったそうです。
I'm doing well and my grill man Andy's also doing pretty good, but lately he's realized that it's been harder to find his favorite charcoal, Kamado Joe, so he negotiated with our neighbor True Value store to order a certain number of bags for us.
で、おととい、二人で受け取りに行ってきました。
So, we went to pick them up last Saturday.
購入したのは26袋。
We asked them to get 26 bags.
Hit-chanの愛車、銀ちゃんに載りきるか心配でしたが。。。
We were a little bit worried if my car, Gin-chan could carry them all, but...
よくやった銀ちゃん、何とかギリギリ積めました。
Great job, Gin-chan!! We barely could fit them in my car.
ブラッド君が7袋、パパママも8袋買ってくれて、この先家族そろってしばらく炭には困らなさそうでございます。(笑)
Brad took 7 bags and Ray&Mary took 8 bags out of 26, so our entire family won't have to worry about charcoal for a while.
さて、BBQと言えばですねぇ、Andyっちの同僚の方が主催しているリブコンテストが先月開かれました。
Speaking of BBQ, one of Andy's co-workers annually hosts a rib competition and they had it last month this year.
Andyは今年で3度目の出場になるんですが、実は昨年、2013年のチャンピオンになったんですよ～。（AndyっちのイニシャルがA.Zなので、A to Zってのが、Andyっちのことです。）
This year's actually the 3rd time for Andy to attend the contest and he actually won the last year. (Andy's initials are A.Z, so A to M means him.)
妻のHit-chan、夫が頑張っていたのに、初出場の一昨年、優勝の昨年共に、「面倒くさい～。」との理由で参加してませんでした。（爆）
Me? Even though my husband was working on it so hard, I even didn't show up neither for his first year nor his champion year just because "I want to be lazy at home." Haha.
今年は、一人で運転するのにも随分慣れてきたのと、やっぱり頑張る夫を側で応援してあげたいなぁとの思いから、Hit-chanも行ってきましたよ。
However, I've been used to driving farther by myself and also wanted to be by him on the competition this year, so I finally showed up there.

あと、Andyっちの親友でもあり、同僚にもなったショーンと奥さんのベッキー、それから生まれたばかりのマデリンも来てました。
Also, Andy's best friend and a co-worker, Shawn, his wife Becky and their first baby, Madeline showed up too.
リブのジャッジが済むと、バイキング形式で好きなものを選んでお皿に載せて行きます。
After the judging time, we served ourselves at the tent. There were lots of foods besides the ribs.

全部で15グループのコンテスト参加者があったので、リブも15種類。
15 groups attended the competition for total, so there were 15 different flavors of ribs.
さすがに全部食べられないので、見た目が好みなのと、チャンピオンになったものを取りました。
Still, 15 different ribs were kind of too much food for me, so I just picked up a few which looked nice to me and one which got the 1st place.
ジャッジは4人いて、結構な時間をかけて審議してましたが、残念ながらAndyっちのリブはランクインしませんでした。
4 judges took quite a time to decide the winner, but unfortunately, Andy's ribs didn't get any place. (Oh, no...)
でもねぇ、身内びいきかもしれませんが、正直言って、Hit-chanはAndyっちのリブが今回食べた中では一番好きでしたねぇ。
Oh well, to be honest, even if you say it's because I'm his wife, I thought Andy's ribs were the best among ones I ate there.
トムもキャットもAndyっちのが美味しいって言ってくれてましたし。
Also, Tom&Kat kindly said Andy's were really good.
今回、こうやって他の方が作るリブを食べる機会があって、改めてAndyっちのお陰で家にいながら美味しいリブが食べられる事が幸せな事なんだと感じさせてもらいました。
I'd never tried others home-made ribs before, but thanks to the opportunity, I really felt how lucky I am that I can eat delicious ribs at home.
マイグリルマン、優勝できなかったけど、妻はグリルマンのリブが一番好きだよ！（はい、惚気です。笑)
Dear my grill man, you didn't win this time, but I love your ribs the best in the world!!!
という訳で、週末の楽しいひと時でした！
