How are you doing today?
先日、友達のあゆみちゃんが、愛犬を日本へ連れて帰る為の手続きの説明を聞こうと、お役所に英語で電話をかけたという話を聞きました。
The other day, I heard that my friend, Ayumi-chan, called an office for a question about taking her dog back to Japan from the US.
あゆみちゃんも電話をする前にシュミレーションを紙に書いて練習したみたいですが、Hit-chan、それを聞いて大いに尊敬したのと、その様子を自分と重ね合わせてしまいました。
She said she wrote down some phrases on a paper beforehand, but that made me proud her so much and gave me a big empathy.
アメリカに来て今年で4年が経って、普段はコーヒーショップで働いてはいますが、やっぱりまだまだ英語でのやりとりはネイティブ並とはいきません。
I've been here for 4 years and working at coffee shop for 3 years, but I still can't speak English as good as American speakers.
特に電話対応なんて、日本語でも電話は苦手なのに、英語となると余計に緊張します。
Especially, I don't like talking on the phone even in Japanese, so I get so nervous when I have to make a phone call.
先日も、予想外の電話をかけなくちゃいけない状況になって、あたふたしながら何とか乗り越えましたよ。(笑)
The other day, I unexpectedly had to make a phone call and barely got it done by myself.
もうちょっと頑張って経験値を増やして、この先、日本語並に英語でも電話対応できる人になりたいと思います。
I'm going to try to have more experiences and be confident to speak even on the phone as good as I can do in Japanese.
さて、話題は変わりますが、このブログにも頻繁に登場するHit-chanの友達のキャットが、この度めでたく昇級しまして、Hit-chanが働いているカリブーのお店を離れる事になりました。
So, she's getting familiar on my blog, but my friend, Kat, got promoted and would leave the Caribou.
店長さんというポジションから、新規開店のお店の立ち上げをサポートしていくポジションになり、今回はアイオワに3か月滞在するそうです。
She's promoted from the store manager to a training manager for new stores and going to Iowa to train people at a new store there.
キャットが昇級したのは嬉しい反面、この2年間、一緒に働いていたのが当たり前だったのが、そうでなくなってしまうという事実は結構悲しいものですねぇ。
Of course, I'm happy and excited for her promotion, but it's also a little bit sad that we don't work in the same store because it was just same old comfortable days to me.
で、先日、キャットの送別会を開きました。
On her last day at our store, we had a farewell dinner.

テラス席だったんですが、楽しく食事をしようとした時、ちょっとしたハプニングが！
In the patio space and when we're about to eat, Kat got a surprise!
何故かどこからか鳥のフンがキャットの服に！
We don't know why, but she got a bird poop on her shirt!
Hit-chan、ちゃんと「日本では運がつくって言うから、良いねんで～。」とフォローしときました。
I said "We say it means a good luck, so it's so nice!' and tried to make her feel better. Haha.
でも、写真撮ってたら「これ、ブログのネタにするんやろ～。」としっかりバレてました。(笑)
Though, when I was taking a picture of it, she goes "You're going to put the picture on your blog, right?" Yeah, how smart she is. Haha.
現在、キャットが去って2日目でまだまだ実感が沸かないんですが、この先働いている時の何気ない瞬間に寂しく感じたりするんでしょうねぇ。
For now, it's been only 2 days since she left and not felt real yet, but I bet that I'll have some lonely moments at work later.
この2年間、Hit-chanの直近のボスとしては本当にお世話になり、個人的な友人としてもたくさんのインスピレーションをもらいました。
The last 2 years, she really supported me a lot as my boss and gave me many inspirations as my friend.
一緒のお店で働く機会はめっきり減るとは思いますが、一友人としての関係は変わらず続いていくので、改めてこの出会いに感謝したいと思います。
We're not going to work together in a same store so much, but we'll still keep sharing many things as friends. Again, I want to thank for having this wonderful friendship in my life.
という訳で、キャットの今後の活躍と幸せを願っております！！！
