翻訳詩の試み（20）

■旧暦3月12日、木曜日、

（写真）いい味のアパート。昭和。

さて、アファナシエフの一次稿もいよいよ佳境。今日は、冷たい春の雨だった。仕事の帰りに、ホームで酔っ払い二人が「ソープいいとこ、一度はおいで」と合唱。一方で、後期近代の超合理的なシステムの運用があり、他方で、システムの酔っ払いが叫ぶ。

われわれの歴史は無意味とも思える
人間性という主題の変奏曲なのだ
それは舞踏という主題なのではないか
ワルツのような　ディアベッリのワルツのような
（シュトラウスは人間性というには輝かしすぎた）
セリーヌの『リゴドン』のような
（セリーヌ自身はハードロックだった）
人生はくりかえす
舞踏がそれを映し舞踏がそれを響かせる
そのくりかえしは
メリーゴーラウンド
和平交渉をもう一ラウンド
レスリングをもう一ラウンド
ゴルフをもう一ラウンド
一斉射撃をもう一度
飲み物を全員にもう一杯
回診にドクターをもう一人
その無意味さは
蟻の忠告にしたがう蝉
（蟻自身は舞踏する
ガヴォットかアルマンドを）
それは虚栄とうぬぼれ
タンゴのようなわれわれの運命

ラップは過去十年間のポピュラーミュージックでは
もっとも重要な進展なのである


POSTSCRIPT



Our history is a number of variations
on a rather inane theme-humanity.
And it’s a dance- theme, I imagine.
Something like a waltz, Diabelli’s waltz.
(Strauss was too magnificent for humanity.)
Something like Celine’s Rigodon.
(And Celine himself was hard rock.)
The repetitive nature of life
is mirrored and echoed by dances.
And the merry-go-round
of its rounds:
another round of peace talks,
another round of a wrestling match,
another round of golf,
another round of ammunition,
another round of drinks,
another doctor on his rounds,
And its futility: the cicada
that follows the ant’s advice.
(The ant itself executes a dance-
a gavotte or an allemande.)
And vanity, and smugness.
And our tango-like destiny.

Rap is the most important development
in popular music in the past decade.
