巨大コウモリ

1月12日（土）快晴

僕のアパートのすぐ前は映画館と市営駐車場。駐車場の向こうに図書館があり、ヤシの木の向こうは珊瑚海。図書館にはガジュマルとマンゴの大木があり、その大木がフルーツ・バットのねぐらなのです。その数1万匹。彼らは日没後の午後7時ごろ一斉に出陣。草食性で花や果物を食べ、午前1時ごろには戻ります。朝帰りはしません。東南アジアやアフリカでは高級食材でスープにされます。多分フルーティーで美味しいのでしょうね。

Huge bats
Sat. January 12 : fine

There are the theatre and the council parking space in front of my apartment. There is a library behind the parking space and the Coral Sea farther on. There are big banyans and fig trees in the garden of the library and those trees are the lairs of fruit bats. The number of the bats is around 10,000. They fly away simultaneously at around 7 o’clock in the evening, eat flowers and fruits as they are herbivorous and come home at 1 o’clock at midnight. They never come home in the morning. They are the high class gradient in South East Asia and cooked as soup. It must be fruity and tasty.
