僕の住むケアンズのビーチから車で20分山道を登ると熱帯雨林に囲まれた人口700人のキュランダ。僕たちは月に1－2回ここにランチに行きます。鳥のさえずりを聞き、蝶の飛ぶのを眺めながら、涼しい風が吹き抜けるテラスで食事をします。キュランダには車以外にもロープウエイでも行けるし、列車を利用する方法もあります。列車はシティーから1日2往復。キュランダ駅は鬱蒼とした森の中にたたずんでいます。

Driving for 20 minutes on the mountain road from the beach where I live is Kuranda, the town with 700 people surrounded with the tropical rain forest. We go there to have lunch once or twice a month. We have our meals on the terrace where the wind brows through hearing the birds singing and looking at the butterflies fluttering. You can get to Kuranda by the ropeway or the train if you are not driving. The trains run between City and Kuranda twice a day. Kuranda Station stands right in the middle of the thick forest.
