■友人のスイスの詩人、ロミー・リーが、Covid-19をモチーフにした新しい詩を書いて送ってくれた。とても平易な英語で書かれているが、内容は深く、一読すると、心の奥の深いところから励まされる。日本語に直さず、このまま味読した方がいいと思うので、翻訳はしない。ぜひお読みいただきたい。
SOCIAL SPACE by romie lie
come now.
sit with me.
it is raining
on empty squares
and streets.
memories are lost
in the mists
of nowhere.
come now.
take my hand
in yours.
do not be afraid
of death.
there is a soft tune
in the air.
sit with me
on razor's edge.
we are not
going to die.
see those buildings.
how empty they seem.
and the trees and
the bushes.
how lonely
they are.
as is this
old woman
in her room.
we are
lost.
we are not
lost.
in the spaces we've
learned to perceive
there are souls and
worlds. prayers and
condemnations.
what do we know
about this new entity.
nothing.
so come now
sit with me.
hold my hands.
i will embrace
you
fearless.
rain is falling.
night has come.
without moon nor
stars.
our empty beds
our empty plates
either stay empty
or
we fill them with
what was known
as hope.
