グラニー・スミスとピンク・レディー

色々のリンゴが店頭に並ぶ季節になりました。僕は酸味の強い硬いリンゴが好き。日本ではもっぱらフジを食べていましたが、豪州フジは甘過ぎます。和製フジに似ているのはピンク・レディー。黄色でもっと酸味の強いのがグラニー・スミス。タスマニア産のリンゴの食べかすをスミス婆ちゃんが窓から放り投げたら、突然変異株が翌年発芽したのが名前の由来。どちらも長期保存が可能。写真中央は豪州リンゴではなく中国ダンゴ。

Granny Smith and Pink Lady

The season you can see various kinds of apple in the shop has come. I love sour and firm-fleshed apples. I used to eat Fuji in Japan but Australian Fuji is too sweet for me. It is Pink Lady that is similar to Japanese Fuji. Yellow and sourer kind is Granny Smith. It is named after grandma Smith who threw out an apple core through the window and a mutation came sprouted from the garden next year. Both species can be stored for a long term. What you see in the middle of the picture is not Australian apple but Chinese dumpling.
