雨が多い今年は砂漠に湖が出現して乾いた大地が緑化。色々の植物や動物が大発生。飛蝗（トビバッタ）は個体群密度が高まると相変異を起こし翅の長くなり、毎日体重と同じ量の草を食べながら集団移動を繰り返します。豪州では他の大陸とは逆に、雨の多い年は蝗害が発生しやすいそうです。カンガルー、エミュー、セキセイインコの大軍の目撃情報も。豪州の動物は食糧が多くなると出生率が急激に高まるとか。

Greenery Day
Tue. May 4 : cloudy occasionally rainy

As it rained a lot this year hundreds of lakes appeared in the desert and the dry land became full of greenery. Different kinds of plants and animals have increased their numbers explosively. Desert locusts show a phase variation that makes their wings longer and they repeat mass migration eating the same weight of grass as their body weights every day. Being opposite other continents Australia suffers damage from the locusts more in the year with more rain. There are several eye-witnesses of massive swarm of kangaroos, emus or grass parakeets. Generally speaking, the birthrate of Australian wild animals gets higher rapidly when they have a lot of food.
