朝4時に起きてエベレスト観光飛行の後、カトマンズの東40kmにある標高2200mの山頂の村・ナガルコットでトレッキング。ネパールでは土曜日が休日。元旦を派手に祝う習慣はないようですが、今年は元旦が土曜日とあって大勢のカトマンズ市民がピクニックに来ていました。

Mt. Everest on New Year’s Day

We got up at 4:00am to go on an Everest flying tour and then went trekking to Nagarkot, the hill top village that is located 40km east of Kathmandu with the altitude of 2,200m. Saturday is a holiday in Nepal. I hear there’s no custom to have a big celebration on New Year’s Day, however, as New Year’s Day is Saturday this year lots of people were having picnics there.
