空港のマングローブ林にはワニが生息しているのでシティーの海は遊泳禁止ですが魚を採るのは自由。波打ち際のすぐ近くでも大きな魚が次々ジャンプします。マングローブの幼木に根掛かりするので投げ釣りは不適。投網が向いています。こちらの釣り人は釣竿だけではなく、投網とカニ採りの籠とモリも使用します。小船で来る人もいますが、ワニが怖くなければ膝まで水に漬かって網を投げてもかなりの収穫。日本では網と籠とモリは使用禁止ですが、豪州ではワニとペリカンと鯨とジュゴンは捕獲禁止です。

As there are crocodiles in the mangrove forest at Cairns Airport swimming is prohibited in the sea near City but anyone can go fishing. Big fish jump one by one quite near the coast. Angling is not appropriate because your hooks can easily be caught by young mangrove trees. Casting net is better. Anglers in Cairns don’t use rods only but also casting nets, crab pots, and lances. Some anglers use boats but if you are not afraid of crocodiles, you can use casting nets soaking your legs. You can get a nice bag. Nets, pots and lances are prohibited to use in Japan, meanwhile, catching crocodiles, pelicans, whales, and dugongs are prohibited in Australia.
