ケアンズにはシネマが3ヶ所。1つは車で10分の郊外のモール、もう1つは徒歩5分のケアンズ駅ビル、残る1つが徒歩30秒のシネマ5。シネマ5には5つのスクリーンがあり、人気のイタリアン・レストランも入っています。豪州では毎週火曜日が「映画の日」。普段$15の入場料が$8になるので、週に1回はシネマ通い。斜陽のシネマはいつも空いています。チケット売り場に1人か2人従業員がいるだけで「もぎり」はいません。たいていのバスや電車も検札はありません。性善説の豪州では普通のことですけど。

There are 3 cinemas in Cairns. The first one is in the shopping mall in a suburb that is 10-minute drive distance away, the second one is in the Cairns station building that is 5-minute distance away on foot, and the last one is Cinema 5 that is 30-second distance away on foot from my place. There are 5 screens and a popular Italian restaurant in Cinema 5. As every Tuesday is Cinema Day in Australia, the entry fee is discounted from $15 to $8 and I go to the cinema once a week. The declining cinemas are always empty. There are 1 or 2 workers at the ticket counter but a ticket examiner. Most buses and trains have no wicket or inspector. It’s common in Australia where people believe human beings originally have good morality.
