今日はまず最初にホットでコールドな我が家の今日のニュースから。
Okay, I want to start from this hot and cold news today.
初雪降りました～！今年もこれから本格的に冬に突入しそうです。
We got first snow of the season! The MN winter has started!
昨年は10月には結構降った日があったんですが、今年は遅かったですねぇ。
I remember that we got first snow in October last year, so it was a little late this year.
さて、少し前にコロナでちょっと困っている事という記事を書きました。
So, I shared this article about some difficulties that I've got in the pandemic.
この記事の中で書いたんですが、Hit-chanのパスポートが11月に切れるので、その更新の為にシカゴ領事館まで行く事になりました。
I mentioned this on the article above, but my passport was going to expire in November and I had to renew it at the consulate of Japan in Chicago.
Andyっちと相談して、パパママにめいを見てもらって、夫婦のみで片道7時間ちょっとかけて1泊2日の弾丸旅行をする事にしました。
I talked to Andy and we decided to drive there and stay in downtown overnight. The drive from our hoes to downtown Chicago would take about 7 hours, so we asked Dad&Mom to watch May-chan overnight at our house.
出発の日、8時前に家を出ました。
We left our house a little before 8am.
もちろん、Andyっちが運転してくれました。
Of course, Andy was the driver for the entire road trip.
途中、何度かトイレ休憩でガソリンスタンドに立ち寄りました。
We stopped at a gas station for a bathroom break a few times on the way.
お天気はくもり。
The weather was cloudy.
トイレが近くなると嫌だったのでコーヒーを我慢していたんですが、シカゴまであと2時間ほどの所で立ち寄ったガソリンスタンドで我慢できず買いに行く事に。。。
I tried not to have coffee because it might make me want to pee often, but I couldn't hold on it anymore when we reached this gas station about 2 hours away from Chicago, so I went in the store to get a cup of coffee there.
でね、このガソリンスタンドでコーヒーをカップに入れてレジに並ぼうとしたら、レジのお姉さんが、
I poured some coffee in a cup and was about to wait in the line to the register, and then the casher lady looked at me and said,
「あ、大丈夫よ。うちはコーヒーのお金取ってないから。」
"You're good! We don't charge for coffee."
って。
Wow!
Hit-chan、ちゃっかり無料でコーヒーを手に入れてしまいました。
So, I got a cup of coffee for free!
いくつかのガソリンスタンドに立ち寄ったのに、このタイミングでコーヒーを買おうと思って、結果、タダで手に入れるという。すっごい運を使ってしまった気がしないでもないですが、感謝です。
Like I said, Andy and I stopped by a few different gas stations by the time, but how could I know that I should have got a cup of coffee at this specific gas station?? That sort of made me feel that I used a big luck there, but I really appreciated it anyways.
シカゴに近づいてきて、雨が降り出しました。
When we're getting closer to Chicago, it started raining.
無事、ダウンタウンシカゴに到着し、予約していたホテルにチェックイン。
We safely got to a hotel in downtown which we had booked and checked in.
Andyっち、折角だからとシカゴ領事館に近いホテルの中、結構ランクの高いホテルを予約してくれたんですが、入り口に入るところから、ドアボーイさんなどが至れり尽くせりで、どこかの映画スターになった気分でした。(笑)
Andy booked this fancy hotel near the consulate of Japan in Chicago so that we could make the trop more comfortable and special. So, when we're entering the hotel, the door boys and valet parking staff treated us so nicely and made me feel like a movie star. LOL
で、こちらが今回泊った部屋。
This is the room that we stayed in.
ちゃんとバスタブがありました。お風呂好きのHit-chanにはこれがあるのと無いのとでは大きな違いです。
There's a bathtub! It's a huge difference for me as a bath lover that a hotel room has a bathtub or not.
外の景色はこんな感じ。雨はずーっと降り続いていました。
The view from the room was like this. It was still raining.
でね、こんな雨の中だったんですけど、行列の出来ているお店がありました。
In such a rainy day, I found a store where people were making a long line in the front.
これね。ここ、スタバなんですけど、世界で6軒目にオープンした焙煎所などがある、世界最大の敷地面積を持つ支店らしいです。
This is it. It's a Starbucks coffee, but it's one of the special stores with a roastery inside. It's the 6th Starbucks roastery shop which has the biggest space in the world.
これ、あとになって知りました。皆、雨の中傘を差して並んででも入りたいお店だったんですねぇ。
I actually got to know about all the information of the store after the trip. Now, it kind of makes sense to me why so many people wanted to see the store even after waiting for a while in the rain.
と、こんな感じで約7時間のドライブを無事終えて、目的地のシカゴに到着する事ができました。運転してくれたAndyっちに感謝です。
Okay, this is how Andy and I did the almost 7-hour-drive from our house to Chicago. Thanks to Andy's safe driving, the road trip turned out to be pretty good.
