クイーン・ビクトリア（QV）号

昨日は午前８時にフランスのル・ラペルーズ号（全長１３１ｍ）、午後１時にマルタのアザマラ・パーシュート号（全長１８０ｍ）が入港。そして本日午前8時半にQV（全長２９４ｍ）が入港した。2007年12月にQVのゴッド・マザー（名付け親）をコーンウオール侯爵夫人（現カミラ王妃）が務めたが、シャンパンボトルが割れないというハプニングが発生。これは船乗りの間では不吉なこととされる。あろうことか直後の航海中に、乗客122名、乗務員11名のノロウイルス集団感染が船内で発生。さらに翌年マルタ島に寄港した際は、接岸に失敗して埠頭に衝突した不幸な歴史を持つ船だ。ともかく今朝は大旋回の後ケアンズ港に無事に入港・接岸。英女王の名を冠する旅客船の180度の旋回は「リバー・ダンス｝と呼ばれる。英女王のダンスをラフな格好でテラスから謁見するのは、我がユミ女王である。

Yesterday, the French vessel Le Lapérouse (131 meters long) arrived at 8:00 a.m., followed by the Maltese vessel Azamara Pursuit (180 meters long) at 1:00 p.m. Then at 8:30 a.m. today, the QV (294 meters long) arrived in Cairns port.
