夏に咲く雑草。朝咲いた花が昼にはしぼむことから「露草」。ケアンズのツユクサは日本よりやや小型。同属のムラサキツユクサは雄蕊の毛を細胞の原形質流動の観察に用います。雄蕊の成長中に放射線を照射すると突然変異を起こし、毛の色が違うものが現れます。放射能漏れから1カ月。日本は花見の季節。

This is a weed that blooms in summer. The flower blooms in the morning and withers by noon so its Japanese name is “dew flower”. The same kind in Cairns is a little smaller than Japanese one. As for a congener - spiderwort, its hair of stamen is used for the observation of protoplasmic streaming. If you radiate while the stamen is growing some individuals will change their hair color by a mutation. One month has passed since the radiation leakage. It’s the best season for cherry blossom viewing in Japan.
