日本では台風や雪で電車が止まると、出勤をあせるサラリーマンに駅員が殴られたりなんて馬鹿な事件が発生します。豪州は洪水でも市民は庭にゴムボートを浮かべたり、窓から釣りをしたり。僕の住むヨーキーズ・ノブも１－２年に１度は洪水で孤立するそうですが、住人は仕事が休めるので大喜び。朝からサイクロン・パーティーが繰り広げられます。我が家のワインラックは4ダース収納可能です。

In Japan some foolish incidents, such as an irritated and impatient businessperson punches the train master, could happen when the trains are stopped by the typhoon or snow storm. In Australia when there’s a flood people enjoy floating their gum-boats in the garden or fishing at the window. In Yorkeys Knob where I live becomes isolated caused by the flood in every 1-2 years. Then people are very glad to have some day offs. They have the cyclone parties from morning.
