つい先日、今年一番のがっかりニュースとして、日系スーパーのTokyo Centralのオンラインサービスが無くなるという話をしました。
About a couple of the articles before, I wrote here that a Japanese grocery store in CA, Tokyo Central, announced the closure of their online shop.
その時は10月末を持っての終了という事だったんですが、その後新たなメールが来まして、最終日が10月18日と早まる事になったようです。
They were originally saying that the last day was going to be the end of October, but after that, I received another email from them saying that they changed the last date to October 18th.
注文は10月18日の午後11時59分までらしいです。Tokyo Central
They're going to accept orders made by 11:59pm on October 18th.
消費期限などを考えて、Hit-chanはこのニュースを知った日に早速注文し、10月末近くにもう一度注文する予定だったんですが、Andyっちにこの終了が早まった事を話したら、「もう今注文しておいた方が良いと思うよ。」というアドバイスをくれたので、昨日、本当に本当の最後の注文をしました。（涙）
Considering about the expiration dates on products, I actually placed an order on the day I first heard about the news a week ago and also was going to make another order when it got closer to the last day. Though, when I talked to Andy about that they changed the last date 2 weeks earlier, he gave me a reasonable advice, "You should make another order now." So, I made my 2nd order yesterday.
もし、注文を考えられている方がいらっしゃったら早めにされる事をお勧めします！
実際、Hit-chanが注文した時も商品の種類が何となくいつもより少なくなっている気がしました。
I'd definitely recommend you to place an order as soon as possible if you're considering to buy something from them. In fact, when I placed my final order last night, I could tell that the selection of the items was smaller than usual already.
さて、我が家では先日Andyっちが、「今日、となりのトトロでも観ようか？」と提案してくれて、晩御飯の後に皆で観る事にしました。
The other day Andy brought up this brilliant idea, "Why don't we watch "My Neighbor Totoro" with May-chan tonight?" and we did a movie night after dinner that night.
めいは集中力持たないだろうなぁと思ったんですが、思ったよりもお話を楽しんでくれて、いつも遊んでいるぬいぐるみのトトロが画面に出てきて「トーロ！（トトロ！）」と喜んでいました。
I actually didn't expect that May-chan would sit still and concentrate on the movie so much, but it was a good surprise that she actually enjoyed the story pretty well by pointing and calling, "To-ro! (Totoro!)" probably because she had played with stuffed Totoro everyday and got see him on the screen.
このブログをずっと読んでくださっている方はご存知だと思いますが、我が家のめいの名前の由来は英語でも日本語でも発音しやすい名前という事と、AndyっちとHit-chanが「となりのトトロ」が好きで、そこに出てくるめいちゃんからインスピレーションを頂いたという事です。
If you've kindly been reading my blog for a while, you would probably know what we named May-chan's name after. One of the 2 reasons was that we wanted to name her something easy to be pronounced by both Japanese and American. And the other reason was that Andy and I were fans of "My Neighbor Totoro" and got inspired by the cute girl, "May" in the movie.
そんな訳で、我が家のめいにとって、2020年9月25日は初「となりのトトロ」記念日になりました！
So, September 25th, 2020 became May-chan's first "My Neightbor Totoro" anniversary!
さて、話題は変わり、タイトルの通り、先日初めてめいと一緒にお弁当を持ってピクニックに行ってきました。
Okay now, I want to start talking about today's title. May-chan and I went to our favorite park with bento box for the first time the other day.
行ったのは9月中旬で、木々も少し色づき始めていました。
It was the middle of September and the trees started turning red.
この公園に来たら必ずこうしてピクニックテーブルの椅子に座ります。というか、これがここの公園来る一番の目的だったりして。(笑)
Every time we visit this park, May-chan wants to sit down at a picnic table like this for sure. I guess, it's the main purpose to go to the park. Haha.
相変わらず人も少なくのびのび歩き回れます。
There are almost no people around, so we could walk around just as we liked.
ほらね、またテーブルの椅子に座ろうとしてます。(笑)
See? She's trying to climb up on the chair again. Haha.
お散歩コースにベンチもあるから、それにもやっぱり座るよね。めっちゃ嬉しそう。こんなに喜んでくれると出不精の母ちゃんも嬉しいよ。
There were some benches by the trail too, so she wanted to sit down on it too, of course. Look how happy she was! This smile was worth more than my hustle to get out of the house.
しばらく遊んでからお弁当タイム！
It's lunch time now!
お弁当と言っても日本の手の込んだお弁当じゃなくって、おにぎり、ソーセージ、枝豆のシンプルな物。どれもめいが好きで食べ慣れている物です。
The first bento box for May-chan was not something neat, and I just put some rice balls, sausages and edamame beans which were all May-chan's favorites.
めいも初めてのお弁当を「おいし！グッ！」って言いながら食べてくれました。
I was wondering if she would like her first bento box lunch, but she loved and ate it as saying, "Oishi! (Yummy!) Good!"
ダブル美味し～！サインもやってくれました。
She also gave me "Double yummy!!" sign too.
実はこの週のミネソタは結構寒くて、この初お弁当ピクニックも「ちょっと寒いねぇ。」と言いながら食べて、この後ササっと家に帰りました。
Actually, the week was pretty chilly in MN, so I kept telling May-chan, "It's so chilly, isn't it??" while she was eating the bento box. When she's done with her lunch, we left the park and went back home right away. Haha.
初お弁当持ちのピクニックはちょっと寒かったんですが、これ以降何度かお弁当を持って公園に行ってピクニックを楽しんでおります。
It's was a little bit cold for a picnic lunch that day, but we have enjoyed doing picnic at a couple of different parks some times since then.
何で今までやらなかったのかなぁと思うほど、お弁当を持って行くと外にいる時間も長くなるし、帰りの車の中で寝てくれる事も多いし、結構良い事がいっぱいです。
I don't know why I didn't do it earlier, but I realized that there were a couple of advantages by bringing a bento lunch to a park, which makes us stay outside longer without being bored or makes May-chan easily fall asleep in the car on the way back home.
これからのミネソタはちょっとピクニックをするには寒くなり過ぎますが、これから暖かい季節はこうやってお弁当を持ってたくさん公園にいきたいなぁと思っています。
Unfortunately it's going to be too cold to do a picnic in MN winter, but I'd love to do a picnic more often when it gets warmer again.
