インコの踊り食い

熱帯雨林を歩くと直径2m以上もある立派な蜘蛛の巣が見られます。大型の蝶や蛾や蝉などを捕食しているのですが、時には小型の鳥や蝙蝠やカエルやトカゲやヘビも犠牲になります。蜘蛛は昆虫でも鳥類でも哺乳類でも両生類でも爬虫類でも、偏食のない健啖家。だけどハムやスモークサーモンを投げてやっても見向きもしない。生餌以外は興味がない様子。

Thu. February 12 : fine after rain

You can often see spider nests that are over 2m in their diameters when you walk around in the tropical rain forest. Those spiders catch and eat big butterflies, moths, cicadas, and sometimes small birds, bats, lizards, and snakes. They are not fussy but have so strong stomachs that they even eat birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles. I tried throwing some ham and smoked salmon to them but they totally ignored them. They seem to be interested in only living animals.
