日本人ワーホリの慰霊碑

1月15日（火）快晴

僕のアパートから100m離れたケアンズ市民劇場の庭にこの慰霊碑があります。碑文は次の通り。『奥山美智子はダイバーとしてグレート・バリア・リーフにあこがれ、1997年9月14日ケアンズに渡りました。1997年9月20日殺害され、若き乙女の夢を絶たれました。この記念碑はこのような惨事が二度と起きないよう美智子さんの願いをこめて建立されました。（ケアンズ市議会、ケアンズ日本人会、ケアンズ市役所）』

This memorial locates in the garden of Cairns Civic Theatre that is 100m away from my apartment. The inscription there says “Ms. Michiko Okuyama was longing for the Great Barrier Reef as a diver and came to Cairns on September 14th in 1997. She was killed on September 20th in 1997 and her young dream was defeated. This memorial was founded for her wishing that kind of miserable accident will never repeat.
