今週から治療が本格的に始まって、Hit-chanはクリニックに毎日通っているので、少し忙しくなりました。
Our treatment has started this week and I've been visiting the clinic everyday which makes me a little busier.
とは言え、やはりカリブーで働いている時と比べると、自由な時間がめちゃくちゃあり、それを謳歌しております。
Still, compared to working at Caribou 5days a week, there's plenty of free time and I've really enjoyed it. Lucky me!
今日は今回の日本滞在にあたって、実際来てみて思ったアパート＆携帯電話についてです。
So, I want to share my feedbacks about our apartment and my Japanese phone.
日本での滞在、快適に過ごしておりますが、今回Andyっちが夜に働くという事で、生活の部屋とは別に仕事用の部屋も借りました。
We originally rented 2 apartment rooms since Andy has to work from midnight through 8am in Japan time.
生活用は少し大きめの部屋なんですが、いざ住んでみると、この大き目の部屋一つで事足りる事が分かりました。(笑)
Though, once we moved in and started our life here, we found out that we didn't need the smaller room for Andy's work.
実際、入居の日に一度だけ部屋を確認しただけで、それ以来一歩も部屋に入っていないのです。
We actually checked the smaller room on the day we moved in and since then, we haven't stepped in the room at all.
で、賃貸契約を見たら、色々と条件はありますが、途中契約ができてお金も少し返ってくることが分かりました。
So, I read through the apartment contract and found out that we can cancel the small room and get some refund too.
そんなんなので、今回、小さめの仕事用に借りた部屋は途中解約する事にしました。
Yeah, it's pretty much just wasting money, so we decided to cancel the smaller room.
やっぱり、実際に住んでみないと分からない事もあるのです。
There are some things you never know until you actually do it.
あとね、ちょっとややこしかったのが日本で使える携帯を準備する事でした。
Oh, I actually had a hard time to get a Japanese phone this time.
あ、費用を気にしないのなら別ですけど、できるだけ安く済ませたいHit-chanだったので、色々とありました。
If you don't mind the cost, it would be a little easier, but I didn't want to spend too much money on a phone because I'm not a phone lover at all.
まず、ミネソタにいる時点で色々と調べておりまして、妹1のスイッチとも相談をしていました。
Anyways, I started researching about phones when I was still in MN and one of my twin sisters, Switch helped me a lot to find out what the best way is too.
で、最終的に中古の携帯本体とSIMカードを別々に購入する事に。
My final conclusion was purchasing a used phone and a SIM card separately.
SIMカード契約は色々な会社で取り扱っているのですが、やっかいなのがその契約期間の縛り。
（1年以内に解約すると、違約金を取られるってやつです。）
Even though so many companies offer SIM card contracts, but there's one big restriction on them which you have to pay penalty fee if you cancel the contract before 1 year.
調べてみると、Mineoという会社なら、契約期間の縛りがなくSIMカードを契約できるとの事だったので、そこに申し込む事にしました。
But my sister, Switch, let me know that this company called Mineo doesn't have the restriction, so I decided to apply for a SIM card with them.

最初、私の名前で申し込み、身分証明書も画像ファイルをアップロードしたりしたんですが、何故か身分証明書に不備があって契約保留で電話をかけないといけない事に。。。
Oh well, I filled an application online and uploaded my ID document as well, but a couple days after, they said that my ID document was not good enough or something and held my application until I make a call with them.
その時点でまだミネソタにいたので、色々と面倒だったので、妹スイッチが自分名義でSIMカードを申し込んでくれることになりました。
At that point, I was still in MN and it was kind of pain in a butt to make an international call, so my sister, Switch, filled an application form under her name and took care of all the procedures for me.
で、携帯本体は事前に楽天のお店で、新品未使用というものを8,000円くらいで見つけたので、購入して実家に送っておきました。
Speaking of a phone itself, I found an unused one for about 8,000yen online, so I ordered it and had them ship it to my parents house beforehand.
無事、スイッチ名義でSIMカードの契約もでき、注文した携帯も実家に届いたのですが、一つ問題が発生。
Thanks to my sister, Switch, the application for a SIM card went through and the phone was delivered to my parents house too. But, there's one problem.
携帯が届いた時点、妹スイッチに色んな設定をお願いしていたんですが、その中で不具合を発見したのです。
After the phone got delivered, I had Switch open the box and do some settings for me, but she found that the battery didn't work correctly.
というのも、携帯の電池、100％充電をしても、そのまま置いておいたら次の日に一気に0％になるんです。（がビーん！）
She charged the phone to 100% at night, but right in the next morning, the charge scale dropped to 0%. Oh No!!
妹スイッチが各種設定などを確認して、変に電力を消費してないかも調べてくれたんですが、特に問題もなく、何より、電池の減り具合が徐々に減るのではなく、一気にガクッと減っているので、やはり電池不良ではないかという結果になりました。
Swtich checked if there's some apps spending a lot of energy or something as well, but nothing was wrong and we concluded that it's a battery problem.
でね、日本の電話番号を持っていないと色々不便で、宅配寿司を頼むのにも一苦労。(笑)
BTW, without a Japanese phone number, it's kind of hard to do things here. I even had a hard time to order delivery sushi!!
特にお世話になるクリニックとの連絡手段を早く持ちたかったので、これも妹スイッチの提案で京都駅のヨドバシカメラまで携帯を見に行きました。
I didn't care about not being able to order delivery sushi, but I really wanted to have a way to get a contact with my infertility clinic here. So, we ended up going to a huge electric store right by Kyoto station.

いやぁ、京都滞在まだ1週間ですけど、このヨドバシさんにはかなりお世話になっております。
Oh well, it's only 1 week in Japan so far, but Andy and I already have been to this shop several times. They're so nice.
で、予算より少し高めでしたが、無事に新品の携帯電話を手に入れ、携帯電話の件はやっと一件落着しました。
I raised the budget for my phone and got a new phone about for $200 at the store. Oh well, I was so relieved that I could get this phone problem solved.
長くなりましたが、こんな感じで3か月滞在するとなると色んな準備が必要だったんですが、いざ日本に来てみないと分からない事も多くて、本当、家族の助けを借りながら何とかかんとか生活をスタートする事ができています。
Sorry about this long article, but there were some things that we wouldn't know until we actually came here. Though, we could make all the issues fixed thanks to my family's support.
ちなみに、不備があった携帯電話は返品して、返金手続きもしてもらいました。
BTW, I could return the bad phone to the shop and they got me refund too.
