熱帯雨林の植物の多くは実をつけます。この実を動物や鳥が食べて、種を排泄することにより植物はより生存に適した地へ移動します。鳥は木に止まらないと排泄できません。つまり日当たりの良い場所に鳥はなかなか種を撒いてくれません。しかしコウモリは飛びながら糞をします。果実栽培者から目の敵にされているコウモリは、熱帯雨林の庇護者なのです。

Most plants in the tropical rain forest have seeds. As animals and birds eat the seeds and excrete them plants can move to better places to grow. Birds can’t excrete unless stopping on the branches. It means birds seldom scatter the seeds onto the sunny lands. In the contrast bats excrete while they are flying. Although fruits farmer detest bats, they are the protectors in the tropical rain forest.
