Hit-chanは相変わらず元気にしております。
I'm doing pretty well as usual.
さて、先日クリスマスプレゼントにもらった高価なホームベーカリーを使い始めたというお話をしました。
So, the other day, I talked that I finally started using the fancy bread maker which Andy gave me for a Christmas present.
で、使い始めて以来定期的に食パン(パン・ド・ミ)を焼いているんですが、先日、ついに食パン以外のパンを焼いてみました。
Since I started using the bread maker, I baked sandwich bread (Pain de mie) with it several times so far, and finally tried to bake a different kind of bread the other day.
焼いたのはハンバーガーのバンズなんですが、コロナの影響で出来るだけスーパーに買い物に行くのを控えているので、「折角やし、あのホームベーカリーを使って焼いてみよう!」と思った訳です。
Andy and I kind of wanted to make hamburgers one day but didn't have any buns at home. So, I thought, "Oh, why don't I bake homemade buns with the bread maker? " because we had tried to minimize the number of trips to a grocery store in the quarantined life.
さぁて、めいさんを背中に背負って準備万端。(笑)
Okay, I get May-chan on my back and am ready to cook! Haha.
レシピは初めての挑戦だったので、ホームベーカリーについて来たレシピ通りにしました。
It was my first time to bake homemade hamburger buns, so I followed the recipe book came along with the bread maker.
材料を量ってホームベーカリーに一次発酵までしてもらってから、生地を6等分に。
I weighed all the ingredients and put them in the bread maker, and then the machine did everything including the first fermentation. Then, I cut the dough in 6 pieces.
ガス抜きをしたりして、丸めなおして形を作成。
I slightly punched down the dough and made a bun shape with it.
で、濡れふきんを被せて第二発酵
I covered the doughs with a wet cloth and let them sit for the second fermentation.
待っている間、良いお天気だったのでめいと一緒にお庭で遊んで過ごしました。
While I waited for the dough to rise, May-chan and I played in the back yard.
でね、二次発酵している時に生地を日の差している窓際の床に置いていたんですが、めいちゃん、ご近所さんと愛犬が我が家の庭でAndyっちとお話しているのに気を取られて、生地をちょっと踏んじゃったっていうね。(笑)
In the meantime, there was a little accident with the doughs. I actually put the cookie sheet with the doughs on the floor by the glass door in the dining room so that the doughs could rise more in the warm sunshine. At the time, Andy was talking with his neighbor friend and his dog in the yard, and then May-chan got so excited by the neighbor and his dog, walked toward the glass door and then accidentally stepped on the doughs!! Oops!!!
めいが踏んじゃったのは左下のやつですが、ちょちょっと形を直したので大丈夫!(笑)
May-chan stepped on the one on the left bottom, but I fixed the shape quick and no problem!! Haha.
二次発酵が終わって、生地に溶き卵を塗りごまを振って下準備は完了。
When the second fermentation was done, I put some egg wash and some sesame seeds.
いざオーブンへ。
Now, into the oven!
完成!下の真ん中のやつ、ちゃんとガスが抜けて無くて変な形になっちゃった。(笑)
Done! The middle one in the bottom became a weird shape because I didn't pushed all the gas out. LOL
上手く焼けたんですが、二次発酵が上手く進まなかったのか、そもそもの分量が少な目なのか、結構小さめになりました。
The baking time was perfect, but the size of the buns was much smaller than I expected. I don't know if it's because the second fermentation was not enough or the amount of ingredient itself was not enough.
早速焼き立てをパン好きのめいにあげると、こんなに美味しそうに食べてくれました。
I gave May-chan a piece of the freshly baked bun, and she really enjoyed it.
その後、Andyっちがグリルでパティも焼いてくれて。。。
Later that afternoon, Andy grilled some hamburger patties for us.
この日の晩御飯が完成!
Dinner was ready!!
前日に作ったコールスローの残りと冷凍食品のフライドポテトも作って完成。やっぱりバンズのサイズはミニサイズでした。(笑)
I put some leftover coleslaw that I made the night before and some fries on my plate too. Yeah, the bun's size was a slider size. Haha.
久しぶりにハンバーガーを食べたんですが、美味しかったです!
I hadn't had a hamburger for a while, so I really enjoyed it!
ただ、このバンズのレシピで作ると少し甘めに仕上がったのと、Hit-chanが思っていた味とは少し違ったので、今度は違うレシピでも試してみたいと思います。
My first homemade hamburger buns turned out to be pretty delicious, but they were sweeter and somehow different than what I expected, so I'd love to try a different recipe next time.
