さて、今日も京都滞在記の続きでございます。
Okay, this is another article of my Kyoto diaries.
7月4日のこの日、アメリカでは独立記念日ですが、日本でも何でもない月曜日。
On July 4th, people celebrated Independence day in the US, but it was just an ordinary Monday in Japan.
Hit-chanは朝から検診へ行っておりました。
I had a check-up appointment and went to the clinic by myself in the morning.
なので、この日も父やスカッチに来てもらって、めいを見てもらってました。
My dad and sister, Skutch, kindly came to watch May-chan again so that I could go to the clinic without her.
もうこの頃にはすっかり父やスカッチに懐いているので、マミー無しのお留守番も問題なし！
By the time, May-chan had opened her heart to my dad and Skutch, so there's no drama when I was leaving the Airbnb.
無事検診も終わって、父は家に戻り、スカッチはそのままHit-chan達と夕方まで過ごして、夕方になったらいつものように車を出してくれました。（感謝）
After I finished the appointment and returned the Airbnb, my dad went home and Skutch stayed with May-chan and me. In the evening we had a place to go togehter and Skutch gave May-chan and me a ride again. (Thanks!)
めいさん、この日初めてのお出かけでご機嫌さん。そして、ねこじゃらしが好きで、見つけると取らずにはいられないみたい。(笑)
It was the first time for May-chan to get out of the house, so she seemed very happy. She always loves picking up this plant (foxtail) and can't pass them whenever she finds them on the road. Haha
で、向かったのが実家近くのレストランで、この日は久しぶりにN家（Hit-chanの日本の家族）が集合してご飯を一緒に食べる予定だったんです。
We headed to a restaurant near my parents house for a family reunion dinner which was held for the first time in the last couple of years.
じゃじゃーん！さすがにN家全員の予定を合わせるのは難しくて、何人かは来られなかったんですが、それでも9人が集合できました。
Ta-da!! It's very challenging for us to find a day available for everybody while May-chan and I were in Japan and some members couldn't make it. Still, 9 of the N family could get together.
Hit-chanは5人兄弟の2番目で、この日来てくれたのは、両親、兄と娘のふうちゃん、妹のスカッチ、弟と息子のはる君で、もし両親と5人兄弟の家族が全員集合できていたなら、総勢15名になります。
I'm the 2nd of 5 siblings BTW. The members could make it to this reunion dinner were my parents, my big brother and his daughter, Fu-chan, one of my younger sisters, Skutch, and my younger brother and one of his sons, Haru-kun. If all the families of my siblings can get together, it's 15 for total including my parents.
この日予約していたレストランは、2018年の帰国の時に母のお誕生日をお祝いした所と一緒。
This restaurant was where we celebrated my mom's BD together in 2018.
N家にとってはお馴染みの場所。ロケーションも便利だし、値段もお手頃だし、料理も美味しいし、スペースにも余裕があるしという事で、集合を掛ける時はいつもこのレストランに集まります。
This restaurant is very familiar with the N family. The location is very convenient to everybody, the prices are reasonable and also the table spaces are roomy too. So, we use this place often for our family events.
人数が多い食事の良い所は、色んな種類の料理が食べられる所！皆、好きなものを色々オーダーしました。
What I really like about eating in a big group is that I can try more kinds of food at once!! We randomly ordered whatever we wanted to try at this time too.
この他にもいっぱい注文したけど、写真は撮り忘れ～。というか、食べるのに忙しかったよ。
I was too busy eating to remember to take pictures of other dishes, but we ordered a lot.
隣通しのテーブル2台に分かれて座ったんですが、めいとHit-chanは兄と娘のふうちゃんと一緒のテーブルに座りました。
We sat at 2 tables next to each other and May-chan and I sat at the same table with my big brother and his daughter, Fu-chan.
めいと年の近いいとこのふうちゃんは5歳。今回の帰国では、めいと一杯遊んでくれました。
Fu-chan and May-chan are cousins and I shared the article the other day about the day when we visited them. Fu-chan's 5 now.
Hit-chanの弟とその次男、はる君！3年振りかな？はる君が大きくなってたー。弟はわざわざ以前お土産に渡したTシャツを着てきてくれたよ。
My younger brother and his younger son, Haru-kun! It'd been about 3 years since I saw them last. Haru-kun had grown up a lot!! My brother kindly wore the MN T-shirt that I had given him before.
Hit-chan、兄や弟とは普段連絡は取り合わないんですが、こうやって帰る度に声をかけると時間をかけて来てくれるので、本当に有難いし嬉しいです。
I usually don't talk to my brothers on a daily basis, but both of them are always happy to come and see us when I get a chance to go back to Japan whether with Andy or May-chan or by myself. I really appreciate that.
はる君、小さい頃は恥ずかしくて話しかけても全然答えてくれなかったのに、この日は色々とお話してくれて、Hit-chan伯母さん嬉しかったよ～！
Haru-ku was too shy to talk to me much when we hung out before, but he was still quiet this time, but still shared some stories of his life with me this time, which made me so happy!
もちろん、めいとふうちゃんはデザートにパフェを食べました。（このレストラン、ミニサイズのパフェがあるので有難いです。）
May-chan and Fu-chan ordered dessert too. Yeah, why not? (This restaurant had mini-size parfaits which were perfect for the little girls.)
そんなこんなで楽しい時間はあっという間に過ぎていきまして、N家久しぶりにプチ集合ディナーはお開きになりました。
Anyways, the fun time flew so quickly and we had to say good-bye again.
弟家族は伊丹に住んでいて、京都に来るのにも時間がかかるのにわざわざ来てくれて感謝です。高卒から生え抜きで同じ会社で頑張ってる弟、尊敬してます。
（今回は来られなかったけど、弟をしっかり支えてくれてる奥さんのMちゃんにもいつも感謝してます。）
Cheese! with my younger brother. He lives in Itami, Hyogo prefecture, so he always takes about one hour drive to come see me. I really appreciate that too. He's worked for a same company ever since he's in high school, which is one of what I respect him most in.
(She couldn't make it this time, but I also thank his wife for supporting my brother really well too.)
ふうちゃんとはギューってハグをしてお別れ。
（兄とは、「もう一回くらいプレイデートしよう！」って話をしてたんですが、タイミングが合わず、今回の帰国ではこれがふうちゃんと会えた最後の時間になりました。）
Fu-chan gave May-chan a big good-bye hug. My big brother and I were talking, "Let's have another play date!" but I ended up being busy for other stuff during this stay and this dinner was the last time when we hung out.
普段はそれぞれが好きな事をして互いに干渉せずに生きているN家なんですが、こんな風にHit-chanが帰国する時には時間を割いて会いに来てくれるので、ちゃーんと家族の絆は結ばれているんですよね。
My family members are all individually doing what each one wants to do most of the time, but that doesn't mean that we aren't interested in each other at all. Every time I get a chance to go back to Japan and tell that to everyone, they're pleased to take their time and energy to come and see me. So, they always remind me that we surely have a strong bond in my family and I have home to return in Japan too.
今回のプチ集合を通しても、改めてそんなN家の一員に生まれて良かったなぁと感じたHit-chanでございました。
This reunion dinner also made me feel that I was so lucky to be born to a member of the N family again.
