ママの還暦誕生日・序章(Mary's 60th BD, the prolgue...)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




さて、クリスマスの記事が無事終わりましたが、今度はお正月の様子を書いていきたいと思います。
So, I finally finished telling the Christmas story and now want to write about the new year's day.




お正月と言えば、1月1日が新年を迎えるおめでたい日ですが、うちの家族の場合、1月1日はAndyっちのママ、メアリーのお誕生日でもあるので、ダブルでおめでたいのです。
Speaking of new year's day, everybody celebrates and welcomes the coming new year, but our family celebrates Andy's mom, Mary's birthday which is new's years day as well in addition to the common new year's celebration, so it's a double happy day for us.




なので、1月1月のお昼過ぎから、ママにお祝いを言いに行きました。
Andy and I went over to Andy's parents house on new year's day.





さて、風船を見てお分かりの通り、ママ、今回還暦でございました！！！
As the balloon says, yeah, it's her 60th birthday!!






ケーキはチョコレートたっぷりのアメリカンケーキ。（味は美味しいけど、Hit-chanは3口くらいで満足できます。笑)
We got a very chocolaty cake.

Andyっち＆Hit-chanからは、カリブーのコーヒーと年一回しかない宝くじ。
We gave her K-cup reindeer blend and Minnesota raffle tickets.






で、パパからはミステリーツアーへのご招待状。（これが、これからの序章になっております。）
Ray gave her an invitation to a mystery tour. (This is just the prologue for this entire story.)

そんでもって、パパとの２ショット。

で、この後皆でWiiをして遊んで過ごしました。
After that, we all played Wii together and had fun.





ちなみに、「カードをもらえたら、私はそれで幸せ。」と毎年言っているママなので、いつもこんな感じでささやかにお誕生日を祝っています。
We usually celebrate Mary's birthday in the low-key way like this because she always says "I just want a card."





でも、今年は還暦、これはまだまだ序章に過ぎなかったのです。
Though, this year's her 60th birthday, so it's just the beginning of the big big surprise.

クリスマス・その3 (Christmas, vol.3)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




さて、今日もクリスマスイヴの様子を書いて行きます。
I'll still write about my Christmas eve today.




前回紹介したように、クリスマスは本当に盛大にプレゼントを交換し合う我が家では、Hit-chanもたくさんのプレゼントをもらいました。
Like I talked on the last article, my family gets a lot of presents for Christmas and I got so many presents.




そんな盛大なプレゼント交換会なので、皆がプレゼントを開けていくのに毎年結構な時間がかかりまして、今年も4時間かかって全部のプレゼントを開け終えました。
Since it's such a big event for us, it always takes a lot of time to finish opening all the presents every year and we took 4 hours this year.




という訳で、皆のプレゼントを紹介するのは大変なので、今回はHit-chanが一番感動したプレゼントを紹介したいと思います。
So, I can't show you every single present here, but I want to show you the best present that I got this time.






これが最初に振り分けられたプレゼントの数。(笑)
Yeah, these are the presents I got.




Andyっちからのプレゼントの中、最初に開けた箱の中にこんなものが入っていました。
In the box from Andy I opened first, I found this in it.











これは、Hit-chanの好きなクイズ番組、Wheel Of Fortuneをもじったパズルクイズが入っていました。
There was a piece of paper printed a board of Wheel Of Fortune which is one of my favorite quiz shows.
（クイズ番組では、大きなルーレットを回しながら、大きなボードにある空欄の中にアルファベットを順番に当てはめていき、何の文章や言葉が書いてあるかを当てていきます。）






プレゼントに入っていたのは、番組内で使われている大きなボードが印刷された紙と「ここには回せる大きなルーレットは無いけど、泣かないで、文字を当てはめていってみて。そしたら何がもらえるか分かるよ！」というメモが入っていました。
The note said "There is no wheel here, but dry your eyes. Just put the letters together and you will reveal the prize!"





で、その後、Andyっちからのプレゼントを開けていくと、アルファベットが書かれた小さな紙片がいっぱい出てきました。
After that, each box from Andy had some little pieces of paper with a few different letters on.




全ての紙片が集まったところで、早速パズル開始。
When I gathered all the pieces, I started solving the puzzle.





（ちなみに「転送中」っていう紙は、ブラッド君からもらったプレゼントに貼ってあったもので、まだ届いてないので待ってねって意味です。笑)





ヒントも無しで結構難しかったので、Andyっちに助けてもらって完成させたのがこちら。
With Andy's help, I finished it like this.






「Hit-chanがとっても欲しいもの」って書いてあります。





パズルは解いたものの、この時点で全く何のことか皆目見当がついていませんでした。だって、欲しい物いっぱいあるし。。。(笑)
Even though the puzzle completed, I totally had no idea what the prize was. Yeah, because I really want tons of things. Haha.




で、ぽかーんとしていたら、Andyっちとブラッド君が二人で申し合わせ地下室へ。。。
I was just like "What are you talking about?" and couldn't come up with anything. Then, Andy and Brad went downstairs together...





で、戻って来た二人の手には巨大なプレゼントが！！
and came back with a huge present with their hands.





Hit-chanと比べると分かるように、かなり巨大です。
Compared to me, yeah, you could tell how big it is.




Hit-chan、この時点でも何か分からず、とりあえず、開けてみる事に。
Even at the time, I still didn't have any clue, so I started opening it anyways.





ただ、開けるといっても結構大変で、ナイフ使用許可を得ました。
It was harder to open it than I expected.





ナイフを使っても大変で、ブラッド君に手伝ってもらいながらの作業。
Even with a knife, I was having a hard time to open it, so Brad helped me.





で、出てきたのはこちら！！
And Ta-da!!!






キーボード！！！！
Yes, it's piano keyboard!!!





実はHit-chan、小さい頃から実家にピアノがあり、下手なんですが、大きくなってからもストレス発散でよくピアノを弾いていたんです。
Actually, there used to be a piano in my parents house in Japan and I really liked playing it since I was little even though I wasn't a good player at all.





アメリカに来てから、ピアノが恋しくなって、やっすいキーボードを買ってもらったんですが、それはやっぱりやっすい音しかしなくて、中々欲求不満が解消されずにいたんです。
Since I moved here, I've often miss playing piano and I got a cheap keyboard, but it's a really cheap one and the sound is also cheap as well, so that never couldn't satisfy me at all.




で、事あるごとに「いつか、ピアノが欲しいなぁ。ピアノじゃなくても良いから、質の良いキーボードが欲しいなぁ。」とAndyっちに漏らしていたんです。
So, I was always telling Andy, "Hon, I want a piano sometime in the future. It doesn't have to be a piano, but I want a better keyboard at least."





それを聞いていたAndyっち、新品には手は出せないけど、少し古い型で中古だけど、質の良いキーボードをネットで発見して、フロリダのお店から取り寄せてくれたそうなんです。
For my wish to come true, Andy tried so hard to find this certain brand and found a used one in a good shape since the brand new one is not affordable for us. Also, the shop is in Florida, so he had them ship all the way over here.




で、さっき話したブラッド君からもらった「転送中」と書いてある箱はキーボード用のイスで、転送中でまだ届いてないのはこのキーボードが載せられるスタンドの事だったんです。
By the way, Brad gave me a stand and a chair for the keyboard too.





最初ブラッド君から、キーボード用のイスとスタンドをもらった時、「今持ってるキーボードは安物やし、もっと良いのを買う為に貯金しなあかんなぁ。」と思ってたんですよ。
When I got the stand and chair from Brad, I was thinking like "Oh, this is cool, but my keyboard is so cheap, so I gotta save up money to get a better one."




なので、このキーボードを見た時は、あのブラッド君のスタンドとイスはこのキーボードの為やったんや～と全てが繋がっていた事に気づきました。
So, when I saw this keyboard, my brain finally understood that the chair and the stand were also related to this big present.





それに、この巨大なキーボード、パパが運送屋まで一人で取りに行ってくれて、雨の降る中頑張って車に積んで持って帰ってきてくれたそうなんです。
Also, Ray went to pick up this huge keyboard on a rainy day and brought it back home for me.





なんかねぇ、Hit-chan、皆の優しさが心に沁みて、泣きましたよ。ほんと、涙を流しました。
Oh my...I totally got touched by everybody's sweetness and love and I got happy tears in my eyes.





こんなに愛されて、甘やかされて、本当、世界一の幸せ者だと思いました。
I really felt that I'm quite loved and spoiled and the luckiest and happiest person in the world.





まぁ、そんな訳で、今回のクリスマス、Hit-chanの一番の思い出はこのキーボードのプレゼントでございました！
So anyways, this is the present I loved and touched.

クリスマス・その2 (Christmas, vol.2)

皆さん、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going so far?




さて、クリスマスイブの続きの様子を書いていきたいと思います。
Okay, I'll still keep writing about my Christmas eve today.




今年のクリスマスは、まず、クリスマスイブにママ＆パパ、Hit-chan＆Andyっち、そしてブラッド君の5人だけで、プレゼントを開ける事になっていました。
We were planning to open presents just with Andy's parents, Ray&Mary and Brad and us on Christmas eve this time.





いつものように、ママが色々と用意してくれていました。
As every Christmas, Mary got most of the things ready for us.





ハムに。。。
A big chunk of ham and...




ローストビーフ。
roast beef.





そんでもって、たくさんのクッキー。
And lots of cookies!!!




で、これは結構毎年恒例になってきてるんですが、Hit-chanがクリスマスにする唯一と言ってもいいお手伝い？
This is kind of becoming my annual tradition and the only thing I could help for Christmas.






ママが焼いてくれたクッキーに、これまたママが作っておいてくれたアイシング。
With cookies Mary baked and icing Mary also made already,




で、Hit-chanはただただ好きにクッキーにアイシングでデコレーションしていくのです。
I put decoration on the cookies just I like.





Andyっちも途中でちょっと手伝ってくれて、これが作品の数々。(笑)
Andy helped me a little bit and these are our artistic works.




で、ご飯を食べた後は。。。
After we ate the dinner...





プレゼント交換会！
It's time for opening presents!!
（ちなみに、我が家のクリスマスは大イベントでして、ツリーの下を見てもらったら分かると思いますが、5人に対してプレゼントの数が半端ないのです。）
(FYI, Christmas is a very big event for my family in particular and as you can see the presents under the tree, we always get so many presents every year. )





まず最初にツリーの下に置いてあったプレゼントを、それぞれに振り分けて行きます。
First, we put each one's presents in front of the person.





で、さっきも言ったみたいに、我が家のクリスマスは凄いので、皆にプレゼントを振り分けるとこんな感じになります。
Like I said, we get a lot of presents for Christmas, so even after we sorted them out, it still looks like this.

アメリカに来て最初のクリスマスで驚いたのが、一人に対して一つだけじゃなくていくつもプレゼントを買う事なんです。
When I first spent Christmas with Andy's family, I was so surprised to see that we get multiple presents for one person.




もうそれが当たり前になっちゃってますが、特に我が家は、本当に贅沢させてもらってます。
I'm getting used to it, but especially in my family, I get so blessed and spoiled.





という訳で、長くなるので、今日はこの辺で。
Anyways, it'll be long, so I want to end here today.

クリスマス・その１ (Christmas, vol.1)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




Hit-chanは元気です。
I'm doing well.




今日もお仕事してきたんですが、やっぱり寒すぎる為か、お客さんが少なかったです。
I worked this morning, but the business was really slow and maybe it's because people didn't want to get into the freezing world.




さて、イベント盛りだくさんだったクリスマス＆お正月の様子を書いていきたいと思います。
So, I want to start writing about all the Christmas and new year's day events from today.




今日はクリスマスイブの午前中のお話。
This is about the morning of Christmas eve.




クリスマスイブは、Hit-chan、朝3時間だけのシフトをこなし、その後そのまま一緒に働いていたステイシーとその日お休みだったキャットと合流して、軽いランチをしました。
On Christmas eve, I worked only 3 hours and hanged out for a lunch with Stacy and Kat after work.









普段はお酒を飲まないHit-chanも、この日はホリデー気分満開だったので、キャットに薦められてサングリアを。
I usually don't drink, but I had a glass of sangria because I was in the holiday mood and Kat said I would like it.





大好きな二人。
I love them.






キャットはチキンテンダー。
Kat had chicken tenders.





ステイシーはサイコロステーキとサラダ。
Stacy got diced steak and salad.




Hit-chanは骨なしチキンウィングを頼んだんだけど、なぜか写真を紛失。美味しかったよ。
I ordered boneless wings, but I lost the picture. It was pretty good anyways.




さて、何故にこの日3人で集まったかというと、クリスマスのプレゼント交換をしたかったからです。
So, why we gathered on Christmas day though we all were so busy was because we wanted exchange Christmas gifts for sure.




ステイシーへのプレゼントは、キャットとお金を出し合ってNorth Faceのジャケット。
Kat and I got a North Face Jacket for Stacy.




実はステイシー、前に持っていたこれと色違いのジャケットを何週間か前に盗まれちゃってたんですよ。
In fact, Stacy got her North Face jacket stolen some weeks before at work.




プレゼントを見たステイシーは、「これはもらい過ぎやわ～。」って言ってたんですが、キャットと選んだ色もすっごく気に入ってくれたので、本当にこれを選んで良かったです。
So, she was so pleased to get it even though she said "This is too much, guys!!" We're so glad that she loved the color too!





Hit-chan、キャットからはキャンドルに大好きなお風呂の時間をより贅沢に過ごせるように、バスソルトや石鹸をいただきました。
I got a candle, bath time goods like soap and bath salt because I love taking a bath.





ステイシーからも、キャンドル、可愛いメモ帖、部屋ばきソックス、手作りクッキーをいただきました。
Stacy gave me a candle, a cute notepad, a pair of comfy socks and homemade cookies.






ステイシーからキャットへのプレゼントは、Hit-chanがもらったのとは香り違いのキャンドル、色違いの部屋ばきソックス、メモ帖でした。
Kat also got a candle, notepad, comfy socks from Stacy too.




Hit-chan＆Andyっちからキャットへのプレゼントは、キャットの彼氏のトムへのプレゼントと併せて、キッチンナイフを贈りました。
From me and Andy to Kat and Kat's boyfriend, Tom, we gave them a kitchen knife.





トムと一緒に家でプレゼントを開けてくれたんですが、かなり喜んでくれたみたいで良かったです。
They opened the present at home afterword, but I heard that they really liked it.





いやぁ、本当に、アメリカに来た時は友達一人もいなかったのに、申し合わせる事なく、自然とお互いの為にプレゼントを用意するような友達ができましたよ。
To be honest, I didn't have any friend when I moved here, but now I have such precious friends that I can exchange presents for Christmas even though we didn't tell each other that we're going to get a present at all.





本当に感謝の気持ちで一杯です。
I'm deeply grateful for that.





クリスチャンではないHit-chanですが、クリスマスのお陰で、こうして普段は忘れてしまっている、素敵な人との素晴らしいご縁に改めて感謝する事ができました。
I'm not a Christian, but thanks to Christmas, I could remind myself of something that I tend to forget in my daily life, which are blessed connections with a lot of wonderful people.





という訳で、クリスマスイブの午前中の様子でした！！

Katie, Kat and Hit-chan

Hello!




皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




ミネソタは相変わらず寒い日が続いております。
Here in MN, it's been freezing weather as usual lately.




さて、これもクリスマス前のお話、カリブー友達のケイティとキャットとディナーに行きました。
So this is also about what I enjoyed before Christmas and I had a dinner date with my friends, Katie and Kat.











キャットのん。
Kat's mac&cheese.

Hit-chanのん。
My fish and chips.




二人の写真を撮ろうと言ったら。。。
I asked them to take a picture and then they let me to take one





普通バージョンと。。。
in a normal version and






おちゃらけバージョンを撮らしてくれました。(笑)
in a silly version. Haha.





二人とも、カリブーの店長なんですが、人手不足で色々と大変みたいで、二人の会話をHit-chanは「大変やなぁ。」と思って聞いていました。(笑)
They both are store managers and having a hard time to deal with labor shortage, so I was just listening to them as thinking "Oh, that's tough."





Hit-chanもちょっと愚痴らせてもらって、Hit-chanの不満に共感してもらって、ストレス発散になりましたよ。
I also vented about some job things and got rid of my stress so much.





ほんと、カリブーの仕事を通して、同僚という関係以上の、友達と呼べる仲間に会えて、改めて感謝、感謝です。
Again, I really appreciate for meeting them not only as wonderful co-workers but also as great friends through my caribou job.





この後、ケイティとはバイバイして、キャットとクリスマスショッピングをしました。
After the dinner, Katie went back home and Kat and I went to Christmas shopping.





この時行ったMacy'sはセールしていて、Hit-chan、お目当てのものを75％OFFで購入できて、ウハウハでございました。
We shopped at Macy's and they did a big sale that day, so I could get what I wanted with 75% off discount and was so pleased with it.





という訳で、今日はこの辺で！
So, here's another great time with my friends!
