Hit-chanは元気ですよ～。
I'm doing pretty well.
Andyっちは学校の秋学期が始まりまして、またまた忙しい日々が始まりました。
Andy's back to school and his busy days just started again.
Hit-chanがAndyっちに何かできることは限られているんですが、学校と仕事以外のストレスを最小限に抑えられるように、頑張っていきたいと思います。
There's not much that I can do for him, but I'll try to maintain his things other than work and school as stress-free as possible.
さて、話は変わりますが、Hit-chan、運転する時はいつも主に日本の歌を聴いたりしているんですが、今までずっとiPodを使っていたんです。
Okay, the topic is changed and I want to talk about my iPod today. I always listen to Japanese music when I drive and I've used my iPod then.
これね、懐かしいiPod Touchです。
This is it. iPod Touch
実はこのiPod、日本にいる時に母がサプライズでプレゼントしてくれたんです。
Actually, this was a surprise present from my mom in Japan.
その時の様子をこのブログで書いていたんで調べてみると、もらったのは、2009年4月くらいだったんです。
I wrote about the day on this blog and it was April, 2009.
このiPod、母がHit-chanの為にカスタマイズしてくれまして、裏面にはオリジナルのメッセージが書かれています。
She customized it a little bit and put an original message on the back for me.
ウォルトディズニーの言葉とスタートレック好きの母らしい、バルカンの挨拶「長寿と繁栄を！」
Walt Disney's and Vulcan's. Yup, my mom is a huge fan of Star Trek.
夢を追いかけて頑張っていた当時のHit-chanにピッタリの言葉でした。
At that time, I was pursuing my big dream and these words perfectly fit my heart.
母からもらって以来、このiPodを持って色んな所に行きました。
Since I got this amazing present, I traveled to many places with it.
Andyっちと初めてカナダ旅行した時も、初めてミネソタでAndyっちの家族と会った時も、このiPodを持って移動してました。
When I first met Andy in Canada and also when I first met Andy's family in MN, I had this iPod with me.
ミネソタに移住した後も車に乗せて、色んな所に行きました。
Even after I moved to MN, I drove everywhere with this iPod.
途中、2度ほどこちらで修理に出したりして大事に使っていたんですが、先日、とうとう壊れてしまいました。
I actually had to repair it twice in MN, but it's finally broken some days ago.
もう1度修理に出すことも考えたんですが、やっぱりもう7年以上使ってきたので寿命のような気がして、とうとうリタイアしてもらうことにしました。
I once thought about turning it in a repair shop again, but it's been more than 7 years and I thought I'd rather let it retired this time.
もちろん、使えなくなったiPodですが、思い出が一杯詰まっていますので大切に取っておきたいと思ってます。
It's not usable anymore, but it still has tons of my precious memories and love, so I'll keep it for the rest of my life for sure.
お母さん、改めて素敵なプレゼントありがとうね。
