　トヨタスポーツ800は1965年から1969年までの5年間に渡り生産された。

　希少な1967年のトヨタスポーツ800（UP15）左ハンドルが E-BAY (米) のオークションに出品されている。総生産台数は3131台であった。以下の出品者の記述によるが、現在生存している車は約10％程。左ハンドル車は約300台程沖縄に納品された様子、その内の一台である。車体はドンガラではあるが、夢と希望とサムマネー、そして時間と情熱の維持によって充分に再生の可能性を秘めている。

 

軽量化をとことん追及したモノコック構造である。

The Toyota Sports 800 was the very first sports car produced by Toyota Motor Corporation. The prototype was introduced at the 1962 Tokyo Auto Show. The production car was intended exclusively for the Japanese market and went into production in 1965. The chassis designation for the Toyota Sport 800 was UP15. The engine was an air cooled 2 cylinder unit displacing 790cc and producing 45 HP. Top speed was reported at 100 MPH. The aerodynamic styling was penned by the well-known designer Shozo Sato. The lift off targa top predated that of Porsche. It is believed that between 1965 and 1969 approximately 3,131 Toyota Sports 800 automobiles were produced.   It is also believed that perhaps as few as 10% of these cars survive today. Most cars were built as right hand drive with perhaps 300 being left hand drive for the Okinawa market. With a survival rate of 10% of all cars, it is likely that very few left hand drive cars have survived.   The car currently for sale is chassis # UP15-12298. The manufacture date of this car is August of 1967. # UP15-12298 is an extremely rare left hand drive example which is highly prized by JDM collectors.. This is a major project with serious modifications but is a realistic restoration candidate. This car can be restored for concours, street use, or as a vintage racing weapon…your choice. The car comes with many parts, some NOS, as shown in the photos. Everything that comes with this car is shown in the photos. If you don’t see it, I don’t have it. Toyota Sports 800 cars are coveted by collectors and a nice restoration candidate like # UP15-12298 is becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially one originally manufactured in left hand drive configuration. The car is sold as is where is without any warranty whatsoever. The car is a restoration project and does not run or drive.
