初代ランドローバーシリーズⅠが1948年のアムステルダムモーターショウでベールを脱いでから今年の春で70周年を迎えた。それを記念して宣布されたのが World Land Rover Day! という記念日で、今年から毎年4月30日をランドローバーの祝日として定められた。今年はその宣布の年であった為にエクスポにおいても威勢が良く例年に比べてサービスが旺盛であった事を知った。会場に集ったランドローバーはディフェンダー或いは旧式のモデルばかりであった。新車のランドローバーを持ち込んでいたのはメーカーだけであったと思う。以下は会場で見かけたランドローバーの一部。

2016年にディフェンダーの生産が終了した時にランドローバーの歴史は終焉したと思っている。70周年を迎えてオーバーランダー達から今も愛され続けているデイフェンダーの存在がより強く心に引っかかる。これからまだランドローバーは進化し続けるであろうが、果たして前代を超える事が出来るであろうか？（それは機能や性能の事では無い）それが今後のランドローバーの大きな課題である。これから毎年ランドローバーディを迎える度に個人的にはこの課題が頭を横切る事になると思う。
