ハリーの「聴いて食べて呑んで」

Pure... 80s / Various Artists　（2012）

4枚組というヴォリュームのわりに（中古が）安く手に入るので時々購入している「Pure...」シリーズ。今回購入したのは”80s”。自分がMTVなどにどっぷりだったポップ全盛の前期から、それらに見切りをつけてパンクやポストパンクに走った時代なので思い入れも強い。人は”中学生頃の年代に聴いた音楽に生涯影響を受ける”なんている話もあるが、オッサンになった今でもこの時代の音楽を聴き続けているので間違っていないだろう（笑）。収録された曲とアーティストは以下の通り。

見て分かる通り、ちょっとヒット曲やポップなナンバーが多い軟派な（笑）選曲。なので自分はしっかり聴いたことのない曲も沢山あった。でもあの時代は確かにそんなポップな時代だったし、色々混ざって元気な時代だった。ここにもう少しヘアー・メタル的な曲が入っていたら、もっと時代の空気感が出たんじゃないかな。正直こっぱずかしい曲も多いがこの値段だもの、充分楽しめた。

こういうコンピ盤はどうしたって誰もが満足する完璧な編集なんて不可能。今回のように的が広すぎるテーマだと尚更だ。幼い頃だったので中後半しかリアル・タイムで聴いておらず、後は後追いの自分には、聴いてもピンと来なかった曲は12曲ほどあったが、なかなかの選曲で上手くまとまっていると思うがどうだろうか。全てが超のつく有名曲だと飽きてしまうし、マイナー過ぎるとテーマを見失ってしまう。ここには自分なら選ばないだろうロック畑以外のジャンルの曲もちゃんと選ばれていて、70年代の空気はしっかりパックされている。80年代にヒットした曲の元曲（4-01，4-18 etc...）が聴けるのもいい。ここにパンクやヘヴィー・メタルを入れてしまうとまとまりが無くなってしまうだろうから、外したのは英断。

Pure... Alternative 80s / Various Artists　（2011）

以前に「Pure...Psychedelic Rock」という4枚組CDを買ってとても気に入った「Pure...」シリーズ。他にもないかと調べてみると、ネット上に自分の好みが引っ掛かりそうな「Pure... Alternative 80s」というタイトルを、これまた安価で見付けたので入手した。”Alternative”というどのようにでも解釈出来る言葉だが、音楽界ではチャートを主体としたメイン・ストリーム以外のという意味合いで使われることが多い気がする。気になる収録アーティストと曲は以下の通り。

当時チャート常連のアーティストや大物アーティストも含む68曲という素晴らしいヴォリューム。もちろんメジャー・レーベルが出している廉価版なので音質も全く問題なし。これがなるほど興味深い選曲で、チャート上位に達した曲も含んでいたり、80年代洋楽といって日本人がイメージするアーティストじゃないのも含まれていて、選者の趣向も垣間見れて面白い。有名どころでも「お、その曲選びますか」っていう、ちょっとマイナーな曲が選ばれていたりするので楽しい。個人的には当時もバンド名、アーティスト名は知っていたものの、聴いたことがない曲が多く収録されていてとても良かった。”聴いたことがない”というのは、正確には”聴きたくても聴けなかった”というのが正しい。当時は今のようにネットでサクッと聴けるような環境はなく、思い切って（自分にとっての）大枚叩いてレコードを買うか、深夜のテレビ音楽番組やFM番組の番組表を眺めては、いつ放送されるかも分からないPVやオンエアを待って観たり聴いたりする程度。今とは全然情報量が違った。でも楽しい時代だったなァ。

Sony Musicから出ている「Pure...」という4枚組廉価コンピレーション・シリーズ。そのうちのひとつ「Pure... Psychedelic Rock」がネット上で激安だったので購入してみた。こういうコンピ盤は玉石混交だが、そこはさすが大手ソニーだけあって収録アーティストも豪華。アーティストと収録曲は以下の通り。

”サイケデリック”という振り幅の大きくなるお題だが、しっかりと要所は押さえられている。他にもサイケで代表的な曲はあるだろうに、初っ端がディランっていうのもえらくカッコイイ。自分が編集したら、このお題の中にディランやデラニー＆ボニー、ルー・リードやマイルス・デイヴィスは入れなかったろう。廉価シリーズなので詳しい選者とかは載っていないようだが、なかなか興味深い内容。こういうのってきっちりと編集されていると、いかにもっていう当たり前な選曲になって逆に面白味がなくなるので、この盤みたいにレーベルの事情で選んだような曲や、自分の不明でテーマに合ってる？っていうような曲が入っていると意外性があって面白いのかも。この「Pure...」シリーズ、今は既に廃番になっているのが多そうだが、他のタイトルも試したくなってきた。
