レッジョエミリアに触れる

エクスプロラトリアムでレッジョエミリアの幼児教育実践に出会うとは思っていなかった。でもカレンが研修で紹介していたので思わず「わー！」と反応。これも、それも、ぜんぶ日本で読んだよ！いくつかは日本語で、いくつかは英語で。

レッジョエミリア研究はハーバード大学のプロジェクトゼロチームが長年行っていることは知っていたものの、西海岸の、しかもこんな身近に興味を持っている仲間がいたということは驚きでした。日本にいた頃に教えてもらったいろいろな本やエピソードは、今では遠い記憶の彼方に消えそうだったけれど、ここで鮮やかにフラッシュバック。


こども達の創造性に限りがないこと。それを「本当に」信じているかどうか、がとても大切だということ。モノとの対話、場所や空間との対話、仲間との対話。５歳以下のこども達がひとつのプロジェクト（やトピック）について、飽きがくるまで何ヶ月も持続して取り組めること。はたしてこども達にとって「理解」とはなにか、どこに成立するのか。それから、ドキュメンテーションが果たす役割について。カレンが話していた内容は私にとってどれもなじみのあるものでした。日本からアメリカに来たとき、ほとんどの書籍を日本に置いてきた自分を少し後悔しつつ。こうしてまた自分の興味関心ワールドがエクスプロラトリアムの仲間達とずんずんクロスしていくのを目の当たりにすると、「ぜんぶ本もってくればよかった」なんて。でも嬉しい発見は、言語が日本語から英語になるだけで、コンテンツは存在するということ。もちろん単にレッジョという切り口で切ったら興味ある人はたくさんいるのだろうけど、インフォーマルエデュケーションでコンストラクティビズムではなくコンストラクショニズムを実践し、テクノロジーやアートを用いて創造的な学びについて追求したい人達のなかで、レッジョについても精通しているという存在がうれしかった。

これらの本のタイトルも素敵です。
他にも、
"Dialogue with Places"
"Children in Dialogue between Color and Light"
"LIGHT: Children's thoughts, images, and exploration"など、
とてもうつくしいタイトルだと思う。

最後に、久しぶりに聞いたレッジョエミリアの詩。
前も引用したけれど、カレンがBeautiful poem!と言いながら言及していたのでここでまた紹介。良い実践って、世界共通に響くんだな。

The Hundred Language

No way. The hundred is there.

The child
is made of one hundred.
The child has
a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking

もちろんレッジョエミリアの実践は、イタリアのその都市の社会と文化に深く根付いているもので、これをそのままアメリカに持ってきても成立するはずはないのだけど、それをふまえた上でアメリカの研究者、実践者達がこれをどうアレンジして取り込んでいくのかとても興味があります。
