This afternoon I took the one o'clock train for Takao on Chuo Line. When the train arrived at Tachikawa Station, the train suddenly jolted and stopped. So suddenly !
I felt as if the train driver put on the emergency brake ! Passengers who were standing were almost falling down.
Then I heard an announcement. It said, "Passengers, the train has just stopped. But the doors will not open. We will start the train again."
I thought they should have said "We are very sorry to have stopped the train very suddenly," first.
The train moved slowly, advanced about 30 meters (two cars) and stopped again.
The train did not overrun the stop line but stopped many meters short of the stop line.
The train drivers are so nervous about the overrunning that they seem to be feeling dismay. I'm afraid something is breaking.
