Yesterday it was ten years
since Christchurch Earthquake.

185 people including 28 Japanese were killed
in the earthquake.

How is Christchurch, NZ, now?
I hope Christchurch rebuilt after the big earthquake.

In 2001, when I was 59 years old, I had an exciting
adventure in my life.

I went abroad for the first time in my life.

Yes, I went to Christchurch in New Zealand
by myself and stayed with an English couple
for one month.

I like visiting places of note in the world but----
I like talking to local people much more.

I shall never forget those happy days
with an English couple in Christchurch, NZ.

What a sunny day!



I was slightly sweaty while walking.
It's too warm for February, isn't it?

It is St. Valentine's Day.

Did you give some Valentine gift
to your family or friends?

To tell the truth, I didn't remember
today is Valentine's Day.

But, to my surprise, a dear friend of mine
sent me a Valentine gift!

She sent me chocolates, tea bags
and a lovely hand-towel.

How thoughtful of her!
I was so glad to receive the Valentine gift.

Thank you so much, IK-san.
I shall never forget
your kindness!

I have a lot of time to spare
under this state of emergency.

How are you getting along, Karin?

Today I happened to look at my wrinkled hand,
which reminded me of my days gone by.

When I was a high school student,
we had a lecture meeting in the gym.

A famous scholar came and spoke on the subject
of 「人生五十年」.

What did he mean by 「人生五十年」?

Oh, I don't remember what he spoke to us.
I remember just the title of the lecture.

Anyway, 60 years have passed since the lecture
and now I am 78 years old!

Time really flies.

I'm grateful for everything.
