work as a volunteer waitress, today

2015-12-24 22:06:00 | ノンジャンル
One year has passed
since I started working as a volunteer waitress
once a week---
at a one-coin (100yen) café in the community.

The café is run only by volunteers, as I wrote before.

About 40 to 70 people a day come to this café.

Most of them are elderly persons.

Some live by themselves.

They all say they are thankful for this café.

They would stay at home all day but for this café.

They see other people, talk with them and laugh a lot
here in the café.
.
They say they are not lonely when they are
here in the café.

I say hello in a loud voice.
I smile at everybody.
I learn how to serve coffee, English tea
and Japanese tea.
I like washing dishes.

I am happy to work
as a volunteer waitress
in the community café.

Stollen, シュトレン

Today a friend of mine made Stollen, シュトレン,
and brought one for me.

She told me Stollen is traditional German bread.
It is a cake like fruit bread.

They eat Stollen during this Christmas season
in Germany.

I knew nothing of Stollen.
It was my first time to see and eat Stollen.

How delicious!
I do love Stollen.
You are a very good baker, I-san!

a pleasant chat over lunch

Today a friend of mine invited us, three ladies,
to her house for an early Christmas lunch.

How nice!

The table was covered with a Christmas tablecloth.

A pot of lovely poinsettia and Christmas napkins
were on the table.

She is good at baking bread and her freshly baked bread
was delicious.

Bon appetit!

I'm glad my appetite is increasing.

I had a very pleasant time with you, ladies.

to Tonogayato Gardens in the neighborhood

Last month my friends and I promised to go up
Mt. Takao on December 5. It was yesterday.

But sorry to say, I was still physically weak
and we, three ladies and I, cancelled Mt. Takao.

We went to Tonogayato Gardens, 殿ヶ谷戸庭園,
which is located near Kokubunji Station.

Wow! How beautiful!
Blue skies and trees with red and yellow leaves!

We saw two young nice Filipinas, spoke to them
in English and enjoyed English conversation.

One was a college student studying science,
and the other was an assistant teacher of English
in Japanese junior high school.

All of us had a nice time communicating in English.

We stayed on the terrace of 紅葉亭 for a long time,
looking down splendid tinted Japanese maples.

I spent a most agreeable time with you,
ladies.
Your kindness cheered me greatly.
I'm getting better.
Thank you so much, Ladies!
