drastic changes in temperature

Yesterday it was very warm here in Tokyo.

I started to sweat when I walked quickly.

Today it is so cold !

I walked to my daughter's house trembling
with piercing cold this morning.

I think I will wear my down jacket
when I go to my daughter's
in the evening.

I'll take care not to have a cold.

========

An Italian lady whom I met
at Lake Kawaguchiko
sent me a birthday email from Italy.

What a happy surprise!

She still remembers me.

I met her and her husband 5 years ago.

They asked me to walk with them
around the lake.

We really had a wonderful day!

===========

My old pen pal in America sent me
a birthday card.

She has been my pen pal for 64 years,
as I often write here.

Thank you so much, Anne!

Sorry to say, she writes she is not
in good condition.

She can't take any sleeping pill
because of side effects.

She can't sleep.
She has no appetite.
She ha no energy.
She finds it difficult to write.

Cheer up, Anne!

on my 77th birthday

It's a lovely autumn day.

It's my 77th birthday today.

I got up at seven this morning
and listened to the program
音楽の泉 on the radio.

I enjoyed the 5th Symphony
composed by J. Sibelius.(シベリウス)

Oh, Sibelius reminds me of my travel
to 北欧!

I remember visiting シベリウス公園
in Helsinki, Finland.

==========

My daughter's family celebrated
my 77th birthday this evening.

My granddaughter koharu, who lives
in Sapporo, joined my birthday party
by LINE!

The four of them sang the song
“Happy Birthday”in their beautiful
harmony.

I had a lovely peaceful time
with them.

=========

In our Friday English Class,
my classmates sang the song
“Happy Birthday” for me.

And our American teacher said to me,
“Let me give you a birthday hug.”

She gave me a big affectionate hug.

Thank you for a friendly hug,
Ms. CW!

On Nov.10 Mrs. M gave me a call
saying our friend Mrs.Yama came
to Tokyo from Niigata.

“Oh, I'd like to see both of you!

Would you come to see me
at Kokubunji Station?

Sorry to say, going to the midtown area
is still a bit tough for me.“

We met at the exit of Kokubunji Station.

I took them to 都立殿ヶ谷戸庭園
just a few minutes' walk
from Kokubunji Station.

The garden was not crowded.
We enjoyed talking and the autumn colors.

Thank you for coming to Kokubunji, Ladies.
I was very happy to see you both!

What a lovely day!

What a lovely day!

We've been enjoying fine clear autumn
days since the first day of November—
we had a slight rain on Nov. 3, though.

On the way to my daughter's,
how many times did I stop
to look up at the sky!

And I prayed for people
who suffered disasters
from those powerful typhoons—
No.15, No.20 and N0.21.

I'd like to ask each of them----

How is everything going with you?
Do you have a house to live in?
Do you have a good appetite?
Do you have a good sleep?

I'm afraid you say, “No!.”

I hope you all survive the disasters!

The 32nd Amaryllis Autumn Concert
was held at

府中の森芸術劇場ウイーンホール

yesterday.

‘Amaryllis’is a chamber music ensemble.
My daughter and her husband belong to
‘Amaryllis’for many years.

They make a group of 5 people and enjoy
playing the saxophone.

Yesterday they played the following
two music on the saxophone.

★ニムロッド
作曲 E. エルガー 編曲 D.バシック

★ボヘミアン・ラプソディ
作曲 F.マーキュリー 編曲 W.ニールソン

I enjoyed every member's performance
on the stage.

What a peaceful time I had!

On Nov.2, koharu, my granddaughter,
came home from Sapporo!

How glad I was to see her!

We talked a lot and had a wonderful time.

She was no more a high school girl.

She has grown into a nice young lady.

She lives by herself in an apartment
in Sapporo.

She said to me, "Come and see me in Sapporo,
Grandma. I'll cook meals for you.
Oh, I'd like to take you to my extensive
university campus. ”

She has gone back to Sapporo this evening.

What time will she arrive at her apartment,
I wonder?

I miss her so much.
