meeting a nice couple in Kyoto

2012-06-19 12:03:00 | ノンジャンル
A nice couple, Mr. and Mrs. A, are now travelling
about the Western part of Japan.

Mrs. A is one of my good old friends.

They said they would stay in Kyoto for three days.
They suggested to me that we meet in Kyoto
and enjoy talking there.

Yes, yes, I'll go there and stay overnight at the hotel.

The day before yesterday they came to Kyoto
from Hiroshima.

I arrived in Kyoto earlier than they did.

The hotel stood on the river 鴨川.
I walked along the river and enjoyed the scenery.
Then I walked across the bridge 賀茂大橋.

I walked straight on and on and came to Kyoto University.

“Oh, my dear daughter studied here at this university!
How happy she was to study science there!”I thought to myself.

Kyoto University reminded me of my own old days too.

Around 6 in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. A arrived at the hotel.

We had a delicious dinner and enjoyed talking.
I was a little bit high on wine.

Yesterday, Mrs. A and I enjoyed strolling through
the streets of Kyoto.

No sightseeing. Only strolling and talking.
What a great time we had!

I came back to Tokyo late at night.

he has come back to us!

As I wrote before, the instructor of our Harmonica Circle
has been struggling with his illness.

The doctor said that the cancer had already spread
thought his body and that his remaining days would
be 90 days.

But today he, our instructor, has come back
to our Harmonica Circle!

He said he'd like to teach us harmonica as ever--
twice a month.

He looked thinner than before.

He wore a black cap, because his hair had fallen out.

"I sometimes stagger, because I stayed in bed so long,"
he said.

His sense of taste was a little strange, he said.

He still goes to the hospital to take anticancer drugs.

Today's lesson was a very active one.

The lesson lasted 2 hours!

How energetic he looked!

We were all so happy to see him again.

walking in Okutama

Yesterday I joined ‘Green Road Walking Club’.

I enjoyed walking along Mitake Valley Riverside Trail.
(御岳渓谷)

We went to Ikusabata Station (軍畑) by train
and started to walk from there.

I was laughed at by others since I read いくさばた
as ぐんばた.

I enjoyed mountain greenery.
I enjoyed early summer greenery.
I enjoyed a clear stream.

I like Mitake Valley so much.

I walked 14206 steps in a day.

We had lunch here.

how busy koharu is!

2012-06-08 21:31:00 | ノンジャンル
What busy days koharu spends at her junior high school!

I hear koharu leaves her house at 7:05 in the morning and
comes home from school around 7:00 in the evening.

On Saturday koharu has no classes but goes to school
to attend the brass band club.

koharu has been tied up learning how to play the oboe.

koharu is crazy about playing the oboe.

koharu is crazy about the brass band club,
because all members like music.

How much do I miss those happy days I spent with koharu---

playing dolls, drawing pictures, making stories, しりとり遊び,
折り紙, walking around here, playing badminton or visiting
Koganei Park, Showa-Kinen Park, Yoshino-baigo, or
sometimes studying English!

I’m glad koharu is getting stronger each day.

It’s only natural for me to get older.

sunset clouds

This is the sky at seven this evening.

I stood watching the signal to change to green.

What do the sunset clouds mean?

Will it be fine tomorrow?
Will I be able to see the rare Transit of Venus?
(金星の太陽面通過)

No.

I’m so sorry the forecast predicts rain tomorrow
here in Tokyo.

The next chance will be December 11, 2117.
