自分の中では結構久しぶりな感のある「ふと思い立っちゃったので作っちゃった」系セレクト集。今回の題材は僕らと同世代であれば、音楽好きのみならず誰でも知っている歌姫マライア・キャリーです。全世界で2500万枚を売り上げた彼女の5thアルバム"Fantasy"が発売されたのが僕が小学6年生のときで、実は当時めざましテレビの特集で見て以来ずっと好きなんですよね。今思えば初めて意識的に触れた洋楽が彼女の作品かもしれません。さて、そんなわけで今回選曲したトラックリストがこちら。

何枚か出ている公式ベストはどれも90年代Columbia在籍時のコンサバ系楽曲中心で面白味にかけるので、今回も自分好みなフリーソウル系ナンバーで固めてみました。選曲してみて感じたのですが、メロウ系R&B楽曲中心と言うことで、なんとなくMuroさんのTaste Of Chocolateシリーズに雰囲気が似ています。Mobb DeepやNasなど各種ストリート系ラッパーとの絡みや大ヒット曲HoneyのBad Boy Remixも良い雰囲気ですが、個人的には疑似ライブ的な雰囲気で録音されたI Wish You Knewが一番フリーソウル寄りで好み。いつもの通りMixcloudに挙げているので良かったら是非きいてみてください。特に同世代の人ならば多分ハマるはず。

ディズニー楽曲に関しては邦題で紹介されることも多いため、今回は普段は書かない邦題についても併記してみました。20年近く前に橋本徹さんが選曲したCafe Apres Midi meets Disneyみたいな雰囲気のマイセレクトを作ってみたいという思いが以前からずっとあったので、今回はそれを具現化した形。リビングルームで聴くディズニー、みたいなコンセプトなので派手さはないものの、なかなか悪くないかと。内容が内容なので、なんとなく直リンクは避けますがMixcloudには挙げているので良かったら聴いてみてください。ではでは。
